Dorothi = AMAZING HAIRSTYLIST – I wanted a different look for the summer so Dorothi was the one who gave me an AMAZING transformation. She put in a few highlights and low lights and gave me a hair cut. Dorothi knows what she's doing the minute she sees your hair. She does an AMAZING JOB every single time. I LOVE GOING THERE. =)
Nightmare – I paid over $200 for cut and highlights....My cut was uneven....Highlights were either too thin on the top.....or too chunky mid layer.....Dorthy should resign....She is by far the worst stylist in Chicago.....When I was doing my highlights, the solution was dripping all over.....I went back and got it fixed.....Which is all cool....but it is totally not what I wanted for the summer.....They toned it down, but I still can see the thin and thick highlights....Which made me look like I did my on color.....HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!....I will never go back since kasandra left this place.....I'll take my money to else where n be more satisfy......
worst rudest receptionist ever!!!!! – The hairdressers and beauticians are great but the service, the fact that the customer is always wrong, the fact that after the most horrible experience I ever have had with the receptionist and then the owner emails you and says essentially "the receptionist was right but sorry want a gift card?" I'll never return even if it was free
Overcharged for the poor service provided – I was looking for a salon closer to home and decided to give this one a try. I saw Toni and on my first visit, she touched up color, which was fine. On the second visit I decided to get highlights and a cut....both were a disaster. She didn't listen to what I wanted. I don't normally write these sort of reviews since sometimes people just have bad days....but in this case, I feel I should warn people. I would not recommend anyone going to see Toni. She gave me a very basic cut......but I paid a salon price. When you pay for a salon cut, you should get some texturizing and not just basic layering that can be found at Supercuts. Also, the highlights were not subtle as I requested. Additionally the highlights were two toned...and not on purpose. My previously color treated hair had a different color than the untreated roots....resulting in a very noticeable difference. Since it's dark in the salon (especially at night) this was hard to tell until the next morning. I went back so she could try to fix the highlights, which were improved, but not fixed. My biggest complaint is that I was overcharged for the service. $120 for partial highlights......that was in addition to what I paid for the cut and touch up color. I ended up shelling out about $300 for a mediocre service. I was shocked by how much the bill was....and later even more angry when I saw how screwed up my hair looked. I would not recommend you even going to the salon.....but if you so choose, don't see Toni and by all means ask how much before you have the service!!
My hair's never looked better! – I am a student and a busy girl, so I wanted to stop driving 30 minutes each way to go to the self-proclaimed "best" hair salons in the city. I did that. I was not impressed by them at all. Then I decided I wanted to chop off 5+ inches of my hair, and wanted to go try out Sean Patrick's, which is in my neighborhood. I booked with the most experienced stylist they have -- Shannon King. He listened to me, we looked at pictures, and had a grea ttime. I got an awesome haircut and so many compliments, it's unbelievable! The way he cut my hair has made it manageable for me for the first time in years... possibly the first time ever! I can style my hair now! I have a style! I am hooked and can't wait to go back for my next appointment! And like the review below states -- he was in charge of design for a major salon chain. He comes from NYC, and first worked at one of the "best" salons in the Gold Coast but got tired of the "same people" coming in and out, wanting the same hair. He also teaches people how to do what he does, and he's been on Oprah! I know I sound like an ad, but he is really that good. Try him -- you won't be disappointed!
Best Haircut Ever – My first visit to the salon and luck was on my side. I was booked with a stylist who gave me the best haircut ever, really. He took time to really listen, gave me a realistic expectation, and delivered. When I returned for my second haircut, he asks how did it grow out. Frankly, that was the best part. I never had a bad hair day. Shannon rocks!!!!
Definately Not a Spa EXperience – I arrived at 9:45 my appointment was at 10:00. When I got there the doors were locked, there were stylists standing outside. At 10:00 customers were waiting but no one had the keys to open the shop. Stylists were calling on their cell phones trying to determine who was supposed to open. At 10:15 a car pulls up and an employee jumps out of the car with a key and opens the door. We all go in. The clients are seated, music is turned on, and the stylists prepare their stations. Then some items fall and a stylists yells ?Mother F_ _ K? I can?t type the profanity because my review will not be accepted. The client next to me is called. I wait. Then I am called. My stylist Toni discusses what I want done. She gets me a gown and I am hopeful that things will get back on track. She walks me over to the shampoo bowl and tells me Dana will shampoo me. I wait, and wait some more. My stylist returns to find me sitting there. Oh No ? Dana is the girl with the keys to the shop. She had to go and park her car. Toni decides she will shampoo me herself. She tells me to slide down and put my head in the bowl. I am 5?9 and the seats are supposed to recline. Toni is unaware or isn?t concerned. In order to get my head in the bowl my butt is hanging off the seat. The shampoo was very quick. There was no scalp message like I usually get in a finer salon. I am moved to the chair and Toni cuts my hair. The cut turned out very nice. I was on my way within 30 minutes. The disappointment was it was not the relaxing, spa like environment I expected. For what I paid I am used to getting pampered at the Salon. Toni cut my hair professionally. However, due to getting in the store late and waiting for the shampoo person who never came, she was behind schedule. So it was a quick cut. I could have got the cut elsewhere for half as much as I was charged. My decision to spend a little extra for a spa like experience was a poor one because Sean Patrick?s did not provide that experience.
Fabulous Facials & Waxing – I was very happy with my service. The staff was friendly and offered me something to drink when I got there. The woman who did my facial, Carolina, listened to my needs, made great suggestions and did a fabulous job on my facial and waxing! I look forward to going back to her again! I have many facials over the years and I was very pleased with her work!
Don't bother – As a resident of University Village I was thrilled when a salon opened up. Tried it twice and will never go back! Sean Patrick's is overpriced for their services and to top it off they were rude on both occasions. Why be a patrone to a salon who doesn't display manners to its customers and does not offer anything beyond average? There are tons of true gems in the city of Chiacgo and this is definately not it!
