Great HOT Chicken – I have loved hot chicken for many years. I have morned the loss of Hot Chicken Dot Com and others. Prince's is to rude and slow. Now Finally great hot chicken and great friendly service. I wish they would give you a few more pickles but the chicken is moist and fresh. I recommend you call ahead and they will have it ready for you. This is some of the BEST Hot Chicken I have ever had.

I think a new king of the hot chicken hill – I like it hot, but still haven't made it past 200 degrees yet. I do think it's better than Prince's, which doesn't come easy to say. Maybe it's the deep frying vs the skillet, but I like the breading better. Whew, Soon shall I get the 400, will have plenty of milk and cheese on hand.

400 degrees my new favorite chicken in the world – My first experience with this chicken was in Arizona after it had been frozen for a number of day's. My Father in law found this wonderful place on a trip home to Nashville. i absolutely fell in love.... two years later i have moved my family and i back to nashville and wanted to try it fresh........ i went back on wednesday of this week and its already friday and i have made a second trip this time with enough chicken brought home to feed a small army. i haven't ever found a hot chicken that has tasted this good.... i used to drive to memphis once a month for guss's fried chicken. now just down the street a little slice of heaven. i hope you all get to experience this awesome place. i know you will enjoy it as much as i do.

Best fried pork chop – Had a fried pork chop as big as my head and it was delicious! great fries and ranch too. If you haven't been you need to go. Choose your temperature, I chickened out at 100 degrees (no pun intended!)

Who is the Hot Chicken Champ? – ok, so nashville is the hot chicken capital of the world according to several internet sites. my boyfriend and i kept reading conflicting reviews about these various hot chicken joints in nashville. so we decided to try them ourselves.

being from new orleans (pre-katrina) we LOVE hot food. so we tried bolton's, prince's and 400 degrees (the top 3 chicken places in tn according to most people you ask). prince's was about a 60 on a scale from 1 to 100. bolton's was about a 65. 400 degrees is a 98!!! oh my gosh! this place has the best recipe for hot fried chicken i've ever tasted. and they're nice too.

keep up the good work. you are the hot chicken champ in tennessee!!!

400 Degrees IS the best and the lady that owns it is a sweetheart – 400 degrees is great and the neighborhood adds to the ambiance. The chicken is amazing and the heat lasts for days. davis is a whimp. The lady that owns the place is a real sweetheart and treats everyone great. When I take my white butt down in the hood for this chicken, I feel it a privelage to be there and to eat and leave safe. I have never had a problem there or Princes for that matter...it's like a visitor to another country. The best "real" food is in the hood in any town you go to...and 400 degrees is the best. It's addicting and were are there at least once a week.

Unbelievable hot chicken!!! – Wow! Wow! Wow!

As a food critic, I'm supposed to try a different restaurant every week. I'm not supposed to keep going back to the same restaurant every weekend. Twelve visits later (in the span of 2 months), I still can't get enough of 400 Degrees. I pick up chicken almost every Friday and Saturday night here. Prince's Hot Chicken Shack, which used to be my favorite, wishes they could be HALF as good as 400 Degrees. Bolton's Spicy Chicken and Fish comes close but STILL can't dethrone Tennessee's newly crowned Queen of Chicken!!!!! And the ladies at 400 are nice to you (unlike at Prince's and Bolton's).

I've searched New Orleans, Memphis, Houston and Miami for the best hot chicken in the world. All of a sudden, I found it right under my nose in Nashville. Go today!!! Right now!!!

P.S. Poor Mr. Davis in his review. What a misguided soul. He can't handle a little grease in his chicken. He wouldn't know good food if it sat in his lap. And he obviously doesn't travel through the less affluent communities of Nashville very often. It's really not that bad, even on Friday nights. Please Mr. Davis. Spew your propoganda somewhere else.

Bad Neighborhood and SICK – First off, I've never been so sick in my life, and not from the heat but from the grease. It was the greasiest mess I've ever put in my mouth. It was plenty hot, the reason I was scoping out a hot chicken lunch, but the grease overpowered any flavor from the chicken. My food took over an hour and did I mention I was sick?

Secondly, I was scared for my life in that area. I witnessed drunks, homeless and crackheads during the middle of the afternoon swarming around 'used tire row'. I was stared down by every patron in this establishment. (For reference, I attended inner city schools from middle through college in a neighboring city 3 hours north, but this area is one of the worse I've seen) The owner is sweet, but she MUST get out of that area.

Besides the neighborhood the restaurant itself is extremely undesirable The floor was stained black from patron's spilled grease on the way out (literally a trail from the door to the register). The air choked you with smoking grease, the two tables were held by loiterers. I have no clue how they pass health inspections.

All in all, a bad experience and definitely my last until they relocate into a half-way viable restaurant location and learn not to saturate the chicken with grease. The owner bragged about the money she was making (tacky); please reinvest some of your retained earnings into a new location.

Best Hot Chicken in Town! – I was hesitant to try this new 400 thang. I read the newpaper article when they first opened. Still didn't try it. I live right down the street and pass it everyday. However I heard some peeps talking about it in the bottom and I decided to try it. I could kick myself for not trying it sooner. Do you know how many times I could have had a fresh ungreasy chicken breast? I could just kick myself. Im hooked now and so is my family. The atmosphere is very friendly, service is prompt, food is good and fresh (always). I highly recommend 400. Once you try this no other chicken can compare (not even Princess). Keep up the good work.

The best hot chicken! – This place is better than Prince's, and that is saying something. I think the flavor at 400 Degrees is better, the chicken is less greasy, and their service is much better too. Call your order in if you can since hot chicken takes a while to make. Anyone who loves spicy food should try the 200 degree flavor. I could not handle the 400 Degree, and I eat Hot at Prince's. I hope you enjoy 400 Degrees often so they can continue to grow!
