This place rivals Prince's for the hot chicken crown – So I must admit I was leary to try this place having been a dedicated Prince's fan for a year now. However, decided to give it a try. Wow! You can get the chicken 0 degrees, 100 degrees, 200 degrees, or 400 degrees. I haven't tried the 400 degrees yet but the 200 degree will light you up pretty good. The chicken is served the standard hot chicken way as a breast or thigh quarter with two slices of white bread and pickles. However, where this place varies from Prince's is that they deep fry their chicken as opposed to skillet frying it.
The real draw to 400 degrees for me is the service. The owner and her staff are always VERY friendly and helpful and always make sure the chicken is cooked to your liking. That is a far cry different than the borderline rude service you reeceive at Prince's.
This north Nashville meat-and-three joint with a neighborhood vibe cranks up the spicy heat for chicken and pork chops. – In Short
Red flames painted on the windows set the tone and are echoed inside the small, wood-paneled room. Regulars who stop in after work or after church on Sundays occupy seats at the counter and two colorful tables. The restaurant's name is code for ordering meat at the spiciest level, but those with milder palates ask for 100 or 200 degrees. The most popular dishes are the pork chop sandwich and hot chicken wings.
