THE WORST!! – Old food was splattered on the wall next to our booth, the staff was very unenthusiastic and we had to send the cold coffee back. The "artwork" on the walls consist of lousy poster art that they probably bought on the Venice Boardwalk. Don't go here...YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!
Horrible Breakfast – Food took 45 minutes to be served with excuses every few minutes.
Got hit by the sun because they don't have enough umbrellas. Awful tables.
The food was not properly cooked.
The should learn how to do an oatmeal.
The manager was rude side to say the least.
I would not go back
Terrible Service – After waiting 25 minutes outside, We were sit close to the door and It was frustrating because the only available table was that awful table. We did not have any other choice because we did waste our time for 25 minutes to get a table. Therefore, We decided to sit over there. We ordered our foods and It came to our table right away. I did find that our foods were somebody else foods and It was prepared several hours ago. When I started eating my food, I did understand the whole food was cold and not fresh. Pasta Should be hot and It must has its own sauce. However, the sauce was white on it. I did not order fetuchini with Alfredo sauce. I ordered meatball Spaghtei. The Chef made mistake and he made another recipe instead of my order recipe. It was terrible experence for me because the chef screwed up.
I will never go there again.
Italian in Downtown Culver City – In Downtown Culver City, there are a lot of options for dining. So, I knew eventually I'd get to Ugo. I find its name a bit funny. An Italian Cafe?
Do the prices match a cafe? Sure, I thought my orecchiette pasta was reasonably priced at $11.50 though of course my eye wandered to the $22 seafood dish. My friend had the shrimp salad which looked fresh and bonus, the salad also had some luscious looking scallops. Not bad for $15.
I love gelato but most of their gelato was covered with ribbons of chocolate syrup. Yech, I want fresh chocolate syrup when the gelato is served. Oh well, maybe I'll try the yummy looking hazelnut that didn't have chocolate all over it next time.
AWFUL SERVICE! – I bought a client here for a lunch and we were seated at a table inside by the way to the restroom when there were plenty of other tables available. when asked if we could switch we were told the other tables were reserved. we ordered our food and some wine. When the wine came the server spilled it all over us. RED WINE! He apologized and offered us complementary glasses on the house for the spill. We finished our meal and our wine and when the bill came, NO COMP. When I asked, I was told only one glass would be comped. When the bill was corrected only a few bucks were taken off even though the glass of wine was 12 bucks. Not wanting to look like a jerk in front of my client, I paid the bill.
I WILL NEVER EAT HERE. AWFUL UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE.
I coudln't even get all the stains out of my scarf and skirt. had to retire those pieces.
I NEVER TELL ANYONE ABOUT THIS PLACE EXCEPT TO TELL THEM THIS STORY AND IF FRIENDS SAY THEY'RE GOING HERE I TELL THEM NOT TO.
terrible food – I've been here a few times...not by choice..and EVERY single time I've been here the pasta dishes have come out cold. Was there last night, same thing. The service is slow which I guess explains the temperature of the food. Not only that but my date ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese and it was completely tasteless. I like pasta al dente but some of the noodles were just plain hard. I had the chopped salad which was ok. It's not very expensive .. the only redeeming quality.. but really not a good place. So many other places in culver city on the same street. NEVER again
self serve frozen yougurt in the wine world – This is a perfect gimmicky wine bar. It reminded me of an upscale serve yourself fro'yo'. A casual classy setting with very little attitude. Not exactly best "bing" (wanted to use a word than rhymes with "sang" but ctysrch won't let me) for your buck but great idea and something different for a night out in Culver City.
Skip It – I ordered a filet mignon and it tasted like liver, salted to the nines. It was inedible. The vegetable medley was cooked in a hurry, it seems, with carrots so hard no fork would penetrate, broccoli overdone and asparagus spears not peeled. When the waitress came over to see if all was OK, I told her about the steak, said I would eat the vegetables. She said she would "take care of it." When the bill
came, she had taken off the filet, but charged $7.50 for the vegetables (my husband called this "cheesy"). The dessert was excellent, but that will not compel me to come back. And let me add that the music and noise was deafening. Skip it.
Great Social Spot – Highly recommend Ugo as a spot for a casual night out where you want more than the typical bar scene. Sit and chat with friends and other customers as you choose different wine to taste. We kept asking the bartender which were the best to try, the staff was so knowledgeable and really went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Go hungry! Ugo has THE BEST CHEESE PIZZA in LA. Their quatro fromage pizza has a sweet soft crust, the perfect amount of cheese and best of all is drizzled with a white truffle infused honey. A-MA-ZING.
Editorial Review – After gobbling up their adjoined sister bar, Vinum Populi, this casual Italian eatery now has it all, including one of the best wine-by-the-glass selections in Culver City.
