Heart Felt and Delicious !!!!! – What a great experienece---this was our third time and each as comfortable and delicious as the next! The service from the owner welcoming us to the hostess greating and seating us was first class in an environment cozy and cool !!!! We were four and could enjoy our conversation while a mix of music soothed our souls and opened our palates. I had the most yummy branzino as an entre and a crab cake to start that I am craving again now! My husband and friends had an array of cod fish, short ribs and pasta with appetizers being a special fish soup and salads . The owner spent time at our table full of positive energy and enthusiasm while helping us choose two dynamite wines to match ! The service and rythym was terrific yet gave us just enough time to have a full experince. The environment is probably the most authentic I have seen in New York. One of the owners created either by hand painting and woodwork or hand picked from around the world each item giving the vibe a homelike yet classy feel! This lends to why we were comfortable once coming from a black tie and dressed and the next in casual attire . This restaraunt is for anyone in the neighborhood as a 2x a week regular fix as it's very reasonable as well as worth the travel to meet friends for a quality night with a bit of everything....and the long oak bar and high ceilings is perfect for a drink and oysters or whatever the mood ----Soleil Satisfies! LOVE THIS SPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unjustly Accusatory Hostess and mediocre food – Our party of three ate here this past weekend for what we hoped would be a nice neighborhood meal. As we were outside looking at the menu, deliberating, the owner came out and told us that our first round would be on the house... now that would have been nice, if they ever followed through with it. We should have known that this place was a mistake when we walked in at 8:00 on a Saturday night and there was only one table being occupied. But we decided to give it a shot. The waitress was very nice, although when she was "pushing" the fish special, she couldn't even tell us what the sauce was made of or tasted like... a little strange. Then, my salad came out wilted and brown and looked as if the only other ingredient was a can of beans. Additionally I ordered a side of broccoli, which never came out until the others had finished their main course and I had to ask two more times. It tasted like it had been steamed in dirty sink water. Yuck!! But, I was willing to write off my bad meal because the other two people I was with didn?t mind their main courses; even though the bill was a bit hefty for the mediocre food we had just been served. However, the real problem occurred as we were leaving the restaurant. After we were out the door, the hostess began hollering after us and told us to come back inside. Instead of politely asking if we had been downstairs (I assume to the bathroom), she accused us of shattering the mirror downstairs and wanted to interrogate us. Then, as we came back inside to understand what the problem was, the coat check attendant assured the hostess it wasn't our party who she saw go downstairs. However, the hostess continued yelling at us until we walked out and vowed never to return again!!

This place is a keeper – Went there for a casual dinner on a Wednesday night. Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Food was great. The service was superb. They paid attention to the little things - making sure your glass was always full, the owner personally saying goodbye as we were leaving, great wait staff, etc. All in all, this one is a keeper.

THE BEST MIDTOWN EAST HAS TO OFFER! A CLASS ACT IN EVERY WAY!!! – I am not usually big on writing reviews, but I just had to say something about this wonderful place I happened to stumble upon as I passed by with a friend one evening. The food was delicious and I don't mean that lightly. Midtown East has needed a place like this and it's here!!! Great variety in the menu. Beautifully presented dishes, great service and a warm, friendly staff all wrapped in one. I then decided to try their brunch last weekend as per another reviewer's recommendation, and it was indeed GREAT! I had the eggs benedict and my friend had the pancakes topped with strawberries and bananas and they were both cooked perfectly and tasted even better. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!

LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!!!! WOULD DINE THERE EVERY NIGHT. GREAT BRUNCH TOO! – I absolutely LOVED Soleil. I have been so impressed each and every time I have dined there. The owners go out of their way to greet all of their customers, make them feel special and ensure that they are happy. That means a lot. The service is always great. I cannot say enough about how wonderful the food is. I have been there so many times since discovering it, that I think I have tried just about everything on their menu and each dish has been outstanding! You must try their brunch also. The menu has a very nice variety and the prices are great. They are always having special events like live music on different nights so there is something for everyone! Check it out. You won't be disappointed. Soleil...I am a Big Fan!

Most delicious Short Ribs I've ever had!!!!!!!! I cut them with my fork! – Great atmosphere, terrific service and the food was superb!

Brought friends there from another restaurant down the street for a try having heard a great buz about Soliel. We were all extremely pleased with the whole "experience" of the restaurant. The owner checked on us (10 of us) many times, offered us complimentary after dinner drinks and desserts.

Overall I can't wait to go back and try the other dishes like the pasta's that a few of my friends had which they said were delicious!

Oh - there was also entertainment - which was a pleasant surprise!

Go Soliel!!!

Give it a try @ lunch time: nice, cozy + quiet – My fiance and I just came back from this restaurant. Lunch time on Wednesday afternoon: fairly quiet so quick service and lot of attention. That was a good start!

Menu: USD 17 for a 3 course meal... not bad. You'd better like fish as they do quite of lot here but that was good for us. I wouldn't say the food was super exquisite but for USD 17, it was more than acceptable, honestly. The owner of the restaurant stopped by once to check if we were enjoying our meal and wine, which was nice.

Only little pb: at the end, we had ordered the chocolate marquise as a dessert (among 3 possible choices) and this one was not available today.... BIG disappointment! The waiter, very nice and concerned offered a discount on our bill as we didn't want any other desserts (almond tart or bread pudding).

As per the atmosphere, we really liked it: cozy and charming, colorful and fresh (with green plants at the back of the restaurant), music in the back ground, not too loud though.

We'll definitively go back not only because we liked the place but also to taste the chocolate marquise!

Give it a try: it's good money value!

Do not have it together yet – Went recently when we found out it was a Bouterin restaurant (French chef who own Bouterin in the same neighborhood). The waiter explained to us as we sat down that they were experiencing lots of problems so he apologized off the bat. The service was not great, but again, this had been explained to us. The food was good. Nothing to rave about, just good. We were waiting a long time to be served and waiting 20 mins to get our glasses of wine, and the owner saw that we were a bit displeased. He treated us to a dessert sampler on the house, which was also just good. I think this place will be much better once it has been open for a while, but my expectations were not met (they could have been too high though).
