Great service, Great food, priced right – The people of the Hot Dish are friendly. You get a definite sense of a local place. The lunch was served fast and it was excellent. Make sure you take a little extra time to find parking.

Kid Friendly – I took my mother and little sibilings to Hot Dish for Mother's Day. The ambiance of the restraunt was nice and they were understanding when we had to change our reservation to a later time. They only make so much of each dish and when they run out they take it off the menu. I had the vanilla apricot pork chips and it was okay.. I also had a bite of the fried chicken which was amazing. The kids had fun drawing in the bathrooms with chalk and on the table cloths with crayons. Parking could be difficult if you go at the wrong time . Overall I would recommend it for a family dinner.. but again go early so you are not left three menu items to choose from.

A great place to be – A friend recommended me to Hot Dish when it had just opened. It wasn't until an evening last winter, lost in Ravenna, when my partner and I actually stumbled upon it. We couldn't find a place to eat that seemed appetizing, or that we agreed on. We saw Hot Dish's cheery sign and thought it must be time to try it. I found the atmosphere to be really comfortable; hip and clean while still accessible and family friendly. After happily noshing on Central Bakery's Rosemary Soudrough, we were ready to order. I had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and my parther had the Vanilla Glazed Pork Chop, which he has ordered (and devoured) every time since! For a while, we were going every other Saturday (even though we live in Bellevue). I have tried other things on the dinner menu, including their breakfast menu. While I personally wouldn't recommend the Pot-Roast, I would highly recommend the Gingerbread Pancakes, Pork Chop, Buttermilk Chicken, and Carrot Cake. My overall impression is that the food is always good--maybe not exactly how i would've done it--but consistently integrous, wholesome, and interesting. Plus, I've never left hungry; the portions are more than enough! And don't miss out on daily the $3 drink special.

Good food with a twist, will try again – I went with my husband for breakfast this morning after reading the reviews on citysearch. We were not disappointed. We shared a meaty breakfast boat with some pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. The eggs were good, slightly cheesy for my taste, but the sausage in it was really tasty. Their dinner and lunch menu looked interesting, so will definitely be back to try it out. Service was amazingly fast and they were quite attentive as well. Good coffee too (I am very picky about my coffee).

I'm telling my friends about Buttermilk Fried Chicken! – I really like Hot Dish. It's informal, squeaky clean, has fun art on the walls, and you get to make your own fun art on the tablecloths. I tried the Buttermilk Fried Chicken because a friend recommended it. It was crisp, tender, juicy, and amazingly delicious. I told a friend about it, and really bragged it up. Then I took her there to have some, and when she tasted it, she said my description had fallen short. She couldn't believe how good it was, and now she's going to take her family in for some. It comes with mashed potatoes, melted butter and gravy, and zuccini spears. It is SUBLIME, I'm not kidding. My friend and I had our meals under the aegis of their new chef, and the BFC was even better than when I had had it before. Wow.

Crazy good comfort food – We got there pretty early on a Saturday morning, which meant that we got there in time for "Grumpy Hour". They sell all their breakfast items for half price. Half price bloody marys too. Place was cheerful and homey. GREAT art on the walls. I had the pork chop which is smokey and vanilla-glazed, served with applesauce. My wife had the oatmeal. She won't stop talking about the oatmeal. It's a slab of cooked oatmeal baked somehow on lemon curd then they put raisins and creme fraiche all over it. I had a bite & it was pretty good. My mother-in-law had the gingerbread pancakes which were served with a custard sauce and we all agreed they were the best thing at the table. Our kids both had regular pancakes which they liked a lot. Bacon's pretty good. Service was fast and nice. The bloody marys are spicy and strong. Great value. We'll be back for dinner.

A huge disapointment – I had seen great reviews for Hot Dish, so when my girlfriend wanted some "comfort food" I suggested we try Hot Dish. Big Mistake. After we had ordered we were informed that the chef had gone home sick (!) and we would have an extended wait for our food. After 45 minutes my girlfriend received her Yam Chips, which were not so bad, but cold. After another 15 minutes our food was brought out, at least the part that they remembered that we had ordered. The tomato soup was horrible, it was acidic and tasted like nothing more than raw tomatoes and water. My omelette was dry and very salty, along with the burnt to a crisp hashbrowns. They remembered to bring my english muffin, after I was done eating, and the side of bacon never did show up, even though they charged me for it. I would steer clear of this place, the prices are outrageous, the service tepid, and the food beyond bland. McDonalds would be a better choice.

Good service, decent food, but... – Maybe I'm just not that into comfort food, but my husband and I were not overwhelmed here. We both had salads (which were falling off their too-small plates) and the shepherd's pie, which was nicely spiced and quite tasty. It came with a small dish of fruit and a side vegetable (grilled zucchini). The rosemary sourdough bread was cold and a bit too salty. The dessert menu had NO chocolate on it of any kind (and I'd love to know how many deep-fried rhubarb dishes they sell). Certainly the service was fast and pleasant, and it was a pretty good value overall. But the ambiance is just OK, not that special--so many cafes have gone out of business here that I think the location just has the whiff of failure about it.

FABULOUS Restaurant for Great down home cooking with a twist. – My wife found Hot Dish on City Search and brought me down after work. I was starved. I was grumpy. I was not into trying a new place. Wow did my attitude change by the end of our teriffic meal! The service was friendly and fast and the bread was delicious, soft and flavorful with a crisp crust. I "tasted" so much of my wifes fresh tomato soup appitizer that she had to order a second cup. Then dinner. Ah.. pork chops. I'm a big fan of pork chops and the vinilla glazed rosted chop was just heavenly. It was moist and savory with a bavarian twist that reminded me or real good german food. The mashed potatoes were hot and fresh with just the right amount of butter and cream. We finished off with a delicious bowl of short cake whipped cream and fresh strawberrys. Every thing was just perfect and fast too which is great if you work late like I do. The breakfast menu looks pretty insane too. Oh... lastly the price. Very reasonable. We will definately be back... soon.

You have to try the appetizers! – We had a family celebration dinner at Hot Dish recently and everyone seemed pleased with their food. Since a couple family members were vegan, it was nice to have menu choices for them (even desserts). The Yam Chips are the best, the Spreads and bread appetizer plate is tasty also. I had Shepard's Pie that was very good. And for dessert -- caramel-filled carrot cake, good stuff. Having the bar doesn't hurt either! We all had a great time and the staff was very accommodating. Close enough to the UW to be convenient for taking your student out to dinner.
