Sushi Supremacy – The vivid oriental ambiance was felt instantaneously from the moment I set myself inside to this atmosphere. The service was excellent in regards to the exigence hunger situation I was in. Oh~ the food! The food was just IMPECCABLE~ I tasted the perfection in every bite.

PS: You get a free 1 hour parking too~

Can't go wrong with Shima sushi! – Let me tell you... after a bite, I wanted MORE. It is absolutely divine! I love the sushi there. Other places doesn't compare to their taste. I love the rolls. My favorite are the ninja and heavenly roll and spicy tuna! The service is prompt and friendly. The ambiance is good too! My roommate and I go here all the time and it's also great because the sushi man conversates with you when you are sitting at the bar. The next time you go, they recognize you. That's is such a fabulous thing! What more can I say? I LOVE SHIMA!!

super scrumptious sushi – i wasn't a huge sushi buff before i found shima sushi...but after i ate at the restaurant once i was hooked. all the rolls taste fresh and downright delicious. my favorite is definitely the ninja roll (i think i originally ordered it because i thought the name was really cool...) it's packed with delicious crab and shrimp tempura and then smothered in shima's special cream sauce. My other favorites are the island roll, the northstar role, and the spicy bomb (but it is reallllly spicy!)

Friendly Staff, Great Value, Delicious Special Rolls! – I just watched the video for Shima Sushi in the Opera Plaza, and then read the reviews (especially the one by jane007...), and it sounds like an isolated incident to me. I have been to Shima at least two dozen times, and the fish is always VERY FRESH, the staff is courteous and takes care of their customers when they get busy with the lunch rush, and I have enjoyed many of the sushi menu items (their specialty rolls) but have not had much from the kitchen. I would recommend this restaurant to any of my friends, but I would tell them to avoid mid-lunch when nearby offices pop in for a 45 minute lunch break. Shima is NOT a food court. Check it out for yourself.

great original rolls - great twist on classics. – this place is great for their rolls. try the dynamite, crunch or poki. you can't get them better anywhere else. i went here last night and my wife and i were wondering why we go anywhere else. you will not be disappointed here.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE – I've been here a few times and my co-workers have been here as well so this is not based off of one, bad, personal experience. Almost always, if not, the service is extremely bad (and I'm honestly not exaggerating on the times below):

-Waiters don't approach and greet you early enough once you are seated. It's like they just seat you and forget you. Took 15 min. I've been a waiter and you absolutely DO NOT take that long before going to the table. UNACCEPTABLE. They should be fired and should have walked out.

-Talk about forgetting, after you finally order, you have to wait almost 30 minutes on just a couple sushi rolls and a miso soup.

-You have to remind them on what you ordered. For example, one time I ordered ONE appetizer (gyoza) and ONE 6 piece roll. It took 35-40 minutes. Two different servers came to ask what i ordered and said it was coming. After the second server came, it THEN was made. Ridiculous.

-They do not serve your party at the same time. They served the other person i was with 20 min before me which was a bento box. How do you figure that?

-I had to ask twice to two different people to bring more tea within a 20 min period.

-It is extremely hard to get their attention. You are freakin invisible.

So basically, to sum it up, DO NOT GO THERE. SERVICE IS BAD. Food is mediocre and not worth waiting for. THEY HAVE NO ATTETION TO DETAIL AND NO BASIC SERVING SKILLS. DEFINITELY NOT GOING THERE ANYMORE. I MEAN REALLY, GET SOME FREAKIN TRAINING ON CUSTOMER SERVICE ALREADY!!! OK. DONE.

I love Monster Crunch – I've always loved sushi and have been to numerous places in the city. This place was absolutely remarkable. Excellent services and excellent foods. The sushi was so fresh. The Monster Crunch and Lion King rolls were just amazing. Most of the rolls that I've tried was very delicious and creative. I would highly recommend to eat sushi with the sake(it's in the blue bottle. I don't remember the name of the sake). It tastes very clear and perfect harmony with the sushi.

Great food! – Last night, my roommate and I went to one of our favorite restaurants. We love this place because of the affordable prices and the fresh fish. I personally love the Island roll because I love salmon. It's so good, I had to ask for seconds. Spicy Killer was also very good because of the spicy tuna. The spicy tuna roll is very different compared to other sushi restaurant. It's so flavorful, I love it. The service was also very good. Our server was on top of everything. She was quick and prompt with everything. She was so sweet. She even offered us green tea ice cream at no charge. One of my favorite Japanese restaurant because of its affordable prices, fresh fish, and great service.

Love the Capitol Roll! – Recommended by a friend before a jazz concert at the Herbst Theater (one block down), and my girlfriend is a sashimi fanatic, and commented on the generosity of portion, and the cut of the sashimi is "excellent." I like the Special rolls, Capitol Roll, Poki Roll, and Kani Dynamite Hand Roll. Our waitress kept the sake coming, and was friendly. Go there while they still have affordable prices, because I can't imagine they will stay so low for long.
