College Football, Sake and Sushi – Piranha just saved my Saturday. My girlfriend made plans for us to meet her friends and when I wanted to watch college football. Piranha had the game on and the girls were able to talk. Food amazing and drinks too. We
consistant – I was impressed with the Piranha in Ft Worth a few weeks ago so I decided to try the one closer to my house. I have to say the food is just as good at both locations and I am happy to find a new place to grab lunch.
Excellent service! – I eat at Piranha about once a week so I had to give these locations a review. Really I love sushi so I would be easy to please anyway, but the service is also really good at Piranha and the drinks are perfect for an "after work" stop.
I am definitely a fan!
Try the boat!! – We went for our anniversary, and the food was really good. They actually brought out warm towels before which was refreshing. The waiter seemed a big unfriendly, but always did his job promptly. We ordered the boat and requested more sashimi and that is what we got. It was so much food. The yellow tail was amazing!!
If you can get past the not so friendly staff, you'll enjoy it!!
Expensive Disappointed – Recently on August the 10th, I went to eat in south Arlington Piranha. Perhaps because my friend and I are both Japanese and we know real Japanese food, we expected a treat. We ordered Agedashi Tofu, Spicy Tuna Roll and Tuna Nigiri. However, with our very first bite, we both looked at each other and wondered what in the world we were eating. The food was very distasteful. And I love Tofu, but I just didn't like it at all and could hardly eat it. It wasn't just a matter of sending it back and ordering something else. Something in the way the dishes were prepared just wasn't right. As my friend and I spoke to each other in Japanese, we wondered why this place is so popular when the food is so terrible. We were so disappointed that we decided that we would not eat at Piranha's again. It's certainly not worth it for the money we paid.
To be fair, we are Japanese and understand the delicateness of preparing real Japanese food. We hate to give Piranha's a bad review and a thumb's down, but truthfully, we did not like the food at all. It could be that I am misunderstanding Piranha's philosophy in that they are merely trying to imitate real Japanese food and their aim in preparing their dishes is for an American public with purely American tastes. That may work for some. However, imitating real Japanese food doesn't work for me. I have eaten at several mom and pop restaurants across the metroplex that serve far better food than this.
Loved the sushi but hated the service – The sushi was great, especially the volcano roll! Our waiter was very attentive sometimes and couldn't be found when we needed to go. The biggest disappointment though were the stuck up hostesses when we walked in. How do they keep their jobs being rude?? I thought hostesses were supposed to be nice and helpful??
Does Good Sushi Overrule Bad Music and Service without a smile????? – Food's excellent..BUT THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!! It takes forever to get your order and good luck finding the waitress after your first round of sushi. The first time I went the waitress was so friendly with my boyfriend, she grazed his arm as she poured his beer. And they don't mind reaching over you to grab a small piece of trash (i.e. a straw wrapper. At that point--I asked for another server. There's also a few too many employees who don't work and just stare at you while you eat. On top of that...they play, HANDS DOWN the WORST music to eat to. It's techno, but not good techno. It sounds like a techno cd someone bought at the Dollar Store. I guess they want you to eat really fast and get out of there sooner. The music alone is a reason not to return. But, the sushi is really good. So, to recap...if you can get a booth by the wall or bring earplugs you will probably make it through....the sushi is really good.
YUMMMMMY! – I LOVE this place!! Even my boyfriend (who's from california) says this is the best sushi he's had since he's been in Texas! Seriously...have not found a place YET that compares!
Good Food, Okay Service – This was my first time visiting this restaurant and there's nothing in particular about it that makes me want to go back. My date and I shared a California Roll (I've had much better) and the Wasabi Crusted Salmon Roll. I definitely recommend that roll. Besides that the menu was cute but didn't explain much about your entree/appetizer, it listed the name of the platter but not what comes on it. Our waitress was nice when we saw her but that wasn't very often, though she did have good recommendations about the type of sushi we might want to try. All in all it was okay but I don't plan on going back.
Great Food! Horrible Service! – I LOVE the Sushi here. The wasabi crusted salmon roll is to die for. The only thing that makes this place bad is that they have the worst service possible. It takes way too long to get your food and the hostess and waitresses are the complete opposite of helpful. I would only recommend this place if you are a very patient person and have plenty of time to spend. A better alternative is to go a few doors down and eat the same food at My Martini where the service is much better.
