Expensive and dress code very tastless – Took my wife to Del Frisco's for a nice, classy night out on the town. Wanted to treat her right, let her dress up and shine on her night out. The dress code at Del Frisco's is "business casual" and that's fine with us. I wore nice slacks, and a button down shirt. My wife wore a really beautiful dress. Boy were we overdressed. The dress code at Del Frisco's is really, "whoever has money." We sat next to a guy in shorts. A few tables away, there was a guy in jeans and a t-shirt. When I asked about it, I was told, "we dress business casual" at Del Frisco's. Really? Shorts? T-shirts? Business casual? It was very disheartening trying to have a nice "classy" dinner out on the town while eating next to Jimmy Buffet.
The food was decent, but for $170 for two of us, we were not wowed by any means. The waiters really try and sell you on their food. It's kind of like a car lot at Del Frisco's.
Needless to say, the whole classy atmosphere business dress code thing really spoiled it for us. It's kind of ironic, as we were leaving, there was a guy entering the restaurant with an AC/DC t-shirt on and jeans. As he entered the restaurant, I noticed the sign by the front door, "Proper attire required."
It was our first time to visit Del Frisco's. It was also our last.
really good food – Love, love, love the oysters on the half shell. I cannot eat them anywhere else but here, which is great because I live across the street at Villa Piana! Soooo close! I made the mistake of ordering a well-done prime ribeye... but they did warn me before hand. I went back for lunch a few weeks later and their filet mignon, although a bit much for lunch (again my fault) it was extremely good and more than made up for my poor choice on the ribeye.
Would not recommend the dessert, you will probably be stuffed anyway, but the cheesecake just didn't do it for me. Over all, I have been back and will continue to go back.
This is the place to be for great food – I absolutely just love this place! I have been there several times and will go back. Just love it! I've had almost everything on the menu there. It's so good. Check this place out for sure.
Food tasted good, but 2 in our party got sick – Our party of 3 dined on 8/16/08. Two of us ordered the exact same menu item and happened to get sick. We called the restaurant and were given a reply of "I'm sorry you're not feeling well". It is just curious how my husband ordered something different and did not get sick. I would have expected more concern, especially after we shelled out over $200 for the 3 of us, only to feel ill the next day.
In addition to this, our bread had what looked to be a hair in it. The supervisor told us it was a bristle from a brush, but I would have expected better from one of the finer dining establishments in Dallas.
Some good elements, but overall disappointed – 4 of us had dinner for first time at this restaurant that had been highly recommended. Martinis were great. Appetizers - shrimp and crab cakes were excellent. Sommelier helped select a wine we thoroughly enjoyed - Frias Cab - at a reasonable price point from the restaurants great wine list.
But, we were all disappointed in our entrees. All had some form of beef, and all thought steaks were overly seasoned, and either a bit tough and/or fatty. My Strip steak was way too salty and lacked flavor, which seemed to be the consensus of the group. I ordered the vanilla/chocolate mousse for dessert, and was also disappointed. I believe it had been sitting in the fridge for some time, as it was a bit dry and just not up to the quality I would expect from a good steak house.
Waitstaff was okay. It seemed we were very hurried. There was a large crowd on a Friday night, and it seemed waiter was interested in moving us along. My disappointment was compounded by waiter dropping a knife on my shirt producing a stain, and splattering peppercorns on the table and in our water, with little more than a "sorry".
Summary - no plans to go back. I have had much better experiences at some of the other top rated national steak chains.
A wonderful dining experience – My wife and I frequent Del Frisco's for many reasons. You must try their steak tartare and their crabcakes. My wife is a big foodie and states that the crabcakes are the best you'll have anywhere. The steak tartare has an amazing flavor. Their mozzarella and tomato salad is delicious, as well as their salad with avocado ranch. Our favorite sides are hands down the spinach supreme and the skillet potatoes and onions. My wife usually orders the special fish and I get a steak. It's not my favorite steak in the metroplex, but all of the appetizers and sides are too tasty to miss for too long. Dress up or be more casual if you want.
Best Girl's Night Out Ever... – Upon recommendation from another girlfriend, I decided to have our "girl's night out" at Del Frisco's. What a great idea it turned out to be. The valet greeted us with a smile, and from the start made us feel like princesses pulling up in our carriage. We entered and the smiling host staff greeted us warmly, said our table was ready, but we wanted a cocktail first, so they suggested the bar or lounge. At the bar, we recieved prompt and courteous service from Dan. He was funny and cordial, made us feel at home, and mixed the biggest martini we had ever seen. Properly primed for the evening, we skirted off to dinner. Our waitress, Susie, greeted us and told us about some delicious features that were "to die for". We enjoyed a shrimp combination and crab cakes, split a few salads, and shared some steaks and lobster tail. Susie didn't even blink twice when we asked about sharing. She was so gracious. The steaks were the best we had tasted, and we dine out frequently at local prime steakhouses . The lobster tail was incredible. It was huge; and delicious! During our meal, Rick stopped by and made sure that we were enjoying everything. Later the general manager, Mr. Hall, stopped by as well. They both made us feel like celebrities. Susie couldn't persuade us into dessert, but convinced us that sharing some Del's Delight drinks would be fun. It was like the best milkshake we had ever had. Susie then told us that we really should check out "The Lounge" Having heard about it both from Rick and Mr. Hall, Susie sealed the deal for us. We went to the lounge, enjoyed live piano music, more phenomenal martinis, and some dancing. No shy guys in here. We left feeling completely satiated and can't wait for our next "girl's night out" at Del Frisco's!!!
Great Service/Amazing Food/Atmosphere the best in Dallas! – Went to dinner here last night with my girlfriend!!!! We both had a great time the minute we walked through the door. The valet parkers to the GM were so friendly. We had a drink at the bar and were off to our table. We could feel such a great energy at the bar and people just flat out having a great time. The service was top from our waitress to our servers. Really felt comfortable and my girlfriend kept commenting how much she enjoyed the restaurant. After the amazing steak and she had salmon we split the meal and it was incredible!!! We had after dinner cocktails in the back lounge and it was fun. Great music and people having a blast. We ran into some friends and they could not stop talking about how much they enjoyed the place. The GM even came up to us and started a conversation up with us and made us feel like we were family and should come back. We will definitely be back to eat and drink and have a good time here. Best restaurant I have eaten at in Dallas and have lived here for 12 years. Just good atmosphere and made you feel welcome. I know that there are fine dinning places that get better reviews but a place to relax and have a great meal and service you gotta want to come back here!
Best martini's in Dallas, best steak in USA – Went to Del's last night. The atmoshere and food were amazing. It was a saturday night, very busy but were treated like the only customers there. Their martini's are the best in Dallas, their steak is the best in the USA. After dinner we were taken to Havanna Dee's this cool piano bar in the back and we finished our night with an after dinner Dels delight and a dance. Will be back again real soon.
One of the best in town – I have been to most major steakhouses atleast twice in the Dallas area and everytime I go to one I still end up saying that Del Frisco's was better. The service has been beyond excellent, everyone is treated like they are VIP with fine attention to detail. A nicely aged filet mignon in my opinion should be cooked medium rare over a very hot searing grill so the outside is nice and toasty. Del Frisco's is one of the only steakhouses in town that seems to understand this (Capital Grille being the other). The food and service has been consistantly excellent everytime I've been there, with a formidable wine section. The only issue I have with the restaurant is the dining area is a little cramped
