The decor is really fun and the place has been around a very long time. People definitely seem to gravitate to the burgers. I had a grilled sandwich and fries, and I have to say, though delicious, the sandwich was a bit greasy and fries not hot. I went around 2pm and it took almost 40 minutes to get my food an others served ahead of me that got there later. Not sure if this was an anomaly but I'll definitely give it another go.
Kindof rough – We thought it would be a good idea to go down there the other day and was pretty disappointed. We had the breakfast. It didnt make us sick ot anything, it just wasnt very tasty. The coffee was good and the sevice was okay. Might go back for the lunch after looking at all the other reviews on here. Maybe they just had a bad day. Only if we are in the are though. Wouldnt make a special trip there.
good food, good price. – Plenty of different types of food, standard beverages like coffee and hot chocolate, but nothing fancy like lemonade or mochas. very good food.
A OK – Don't get me wrong. too much food is sometimes a good thing. but not in terms of quality. This place is okay for a number of reasons. First you can typically find the owners there. That is a no no. Second the food is okay. the grass fed beef is OKAY. The fish and chips are pretty good. breakfast is not good. there is not even eggs benny on the menu. Potatoes are burned a number of times. Bisquits in the gears are huge. WAY TOO huge. Went to the crab feed this year and found out it was not even fresh crab...it was frozen crab from there seafood distributer...uh for that price is should have been fresh....Like i said this place is okay. its a good place to go if someone just dumped you. you can eat your way to happiness and flirt with the lady server in front who has no one else to talk to and nothing more to clean.
Awesome Sandwiches – My husband and I go here and split the Moofaletta /Muffaletta(not sure how to spell it) All of the flavors just melt together perfectly. I like the salad, fries, or soup with it. They are all good. I've also had the wings, tuna sandwich, meatloaf, and oyster special. again...amazing.
Great food Industrial Cafe!!
Great Little Place! – The best cream chipped beef on Toast in Portland.. yEAHHH BUDAY!
Great food and relaxed atmosphere – I love this place and have yet to have anything off the menu that wasn't fantastic. Their sausage, biscuits and gravy and the rest of their breakfast fare put Besaw's to shame. Never again will I wait in a 20+ min line for breakfast when I can come down the street and eat here.
For lunch and dinner, they have the best chicken pie. The hot wings--made with smoked chicken wings--are the best I've had in Portland and in my top 3 ever (which is saying something). Not fatty at all--just flavor. Even better with the house-made bleu cheese dressing. Burgers are tasty, too.
All of the meats are locally sourced as well and you can tell when you eat them!
If you're looking for a tasty meal in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place. Definitely an oasis from the sometimes uppity ambiance of 23rd.
Phenomenal Food and Service – Industrial has quickly become a favorite of mine and my housemates. Both times we've visited in the last few months, we've experienced incredible food at very reasonable prices and with great service. Kirsten is an enthusiastic and fun-loving server and she even remembered us from our previous visit a couple months back. She will tell you her honest opinion about each menu item as well, which is greatly appreciated. The macaroni and cheese is the best I've ever had--there must be a half-pound of cheese in there! If you don't suffer from high cholesterol, I highly suggest it. ;-) The muffaletta sandwich was delicious, as was the corn chowder, chicken pot-pie (of course), and everything else we've tried. In fact, it's so good that we all just share our meals with each other so everyone gets to try each item. Service is quick and friendly, food is wonderful, location is good, and the prices are right. Try Industrial...it won't let you down.
Try the muffaletta – I live off Raleigh, so I normally walk there with a neighbor or friends. I tell everyone about this place, and advise them to order the muffaletta sandwich, but have not written a review yet.....was telling my friend in Oklahoma about it this morning, and he suggested a review...so here I am. Its the least I can do for such a friendly staff.
I am a muffaletta addiction specialist. My name is Melody. The bread is phenom, the tapenade necessary, the variety of meats on the sandwich enviable to all in the sandwich industry. I'm just guessing.
I'm not a potato fan, and don't care for fries, but always order with the sandwich, as they are the absolute best.
I always take a friend, as there is way too much food for one person, and we split the muffaletta, some fries, and a beer may or may not be involved. If it is, it is served in a glass colder and frostier than my heart, with the precision of a good saloon, it hits the spot, and I can continue for another week.
Until the next time, muffaletta! Until the next time.
Wonderful Homecooking, Great Staff, Good Prices- Only the interior design is Industrial! – We've been regulars at the Industrial for well over three years, since they opened. For us it's like a refuge for homecooking on the nights and weekend mornings when we just can't, for what ever reason, bring ourselves to cook. Among the things we love- the grass-grazed beef (ribeye, burger, take your pick), the chicken potpie, the mac & cheese.. almost anything that comes off the BBQ grill they periodically wheel out onto the walk. The portions are always generous and the prices, especially for the quality of the food, are quite reasonable.
As far as the staff is concerned, we are huge fans... they can be casual but there's no way any of them would ever be brusque, much less rude, without considerable provocation. We have two very large and, to us, very lovable that we always bring with us when weather permits. They know the place and love the waiters (and the beef) as much as we do.
Finally, I can't imagine anybody being oblivious enough to think this is a place for kids - the design is industrial: hard surfaces, sharp corners, tables obviously designed for adults. If Serena's husband needs a place for kids with a happy hour (?????) I suggest he try any of the McCormick & Schmick's establishments.
If you're looking for a genuinely Portland place with wonderful food, an affordable/drinkable wine list, good brews, and decent cost... the Industrial should be at the top of your list.
