New Favorite Salon – So happy to have found a new salon! Excellent service here--cut and colored my hair exactly how I had asked. Very friendly, and very reasonable prices. Gave me a ton of free samples so I could try products at home before buying them. Would definitely recommend to anyone--left extremely satisfied with the outcome and can't wait to go back!
Superb Blond – After years of parking battles on Newbury Street, I decided there must be a more convenient place who could still handle highlights, lowlights, and someone extremely picky about blond. My coworker recommended Kelly at Studio 291. I have now been seeing her for 2 year. She can do anything I request and the color is always outstanding. The cut is equally great. My hair is thick and she manages to cut it so I can easily style it straight how I like it. Not much more that I need to say. My friend is a 26 year old party girl and I am a 38 year old mom and we both feel great after seeing Kelly. I moved to Maine last year and I still come back. Kelly just joined Sylvester Franc in Newton. The salon is very nice and convenient. Also key is that I can often get in to see Kelly with short notice. I could never do that on Newbury Street.
SO HAPPY I FOUND THEM!!! – I have been going to studio 291 for 2 years now. I was shocked when I couldnt find my stylist Kelly there anymore. After alot of searching I finally found her over at Sylvestre Franc in newton centere. Kelly is an great stylist, and im so happy to have her back!!! I reccomend her to anyone that wants highlights, or color in general!
Happy! Happy! Happy! – I was very happy at Studio 291. I am new to the area and was looking for someone to duplicate what my old hair dresser had done. The cut and color were right on. My new hairdresser matched the color perfect and the cut was great. On a side note, Studio 291 is a very friendly and welcoming salon. I felt very comfortable there.
Great Blond! – I know the first step is to admit you have a problem. So here I go. My name is Natalie and I am a Blondarexic. I love my blonde hair and I won't cut it short. I have had many bad salon experiences. Either I turn orange or my hair has been fried. I have been going to Cindy at Studio 291 for a year now. My hair has never looked better. When I first went to her I have a brassy base color with highlights and my ends were VERY dry. My color is a light sandy blond now. She trimed my ends and put layers in. We lost alot of the damaged hair on the first visit. I listened to her advice and I don't regret it for a second. I always get compliments on my hair. A few of my co-workers have started going to Studio 291 now because of how great my hair looks.
Overpriced and Not A Great Value – This salon is priced like an expensive salon on Newbury Street, but it's really just a modest local spot. The person who colored my hair used chemicals on it that could strip paint, and when she was trying to match my existing color, she left a line in my hair between the new color and the old! The people are really nice, but I think it's overpriced for what you get.

Happy I found a new Salon!! – I have never colored my hair before. I started getting a few greys and decided that I wanted them covered. I went to Cindy. She did a color that was an exact match to my natural hair color! It was perfect. No one even noticed that I colored it. It was just what I wanted! Its me 5 years ago. Thank you Studio 291!!!
The worst hair color experience! – I read all the wonderful reviews and decided to have my hair colored at this place. Making an appointment with the owner was a bit difficult. I waited a whole week although my hair needed to be done super fast as my wedding was sheduled just 2 weeks away. I was really hopeful that she won't mess up my hair but i was wrong. The owner couldn't even wash hair let alone to color!!! I couldn't believe that after 1minute of washing she didn't even rinse the back of the head...my hair still had shampoo on all over my hair. After this i already had a bad feeling about her! Well the coloring went just as bad. I got a completely different color i wanted. To make things easier for her she kept saying that the color will wash out and will turn into the color i wanted. I believed her and i guess i wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. I went back the second time so she can fix the color. Oh gosh, that was a big mistake! A week before my wedding i had pitch black hair (if you had black hair you know how hard it is to get rid of that color and not to mention the strain on your hair) and this time permanently! I was speechless. She didn't let me pay for that because she knew it was all wrong. Oh and while she was doing my hair she was talking about other costumers behind their backs. The other customer was just in the bathroom while she was commenting on her bad hair color preference.In conclusion, i would not even try this place out if you want coloring. I am not sure about the cuts as i didn't need any. Thanks to her i had to run to a professional hair colorist in Acton where they worked on my hair for 3 hours and still have to go back to get my hair back to normal...
We at Studio 291 take our reviews very seriously. We enjoy the pat on the back with a good review. When we receive a negative review, we take it as constructive criticism and try then bettering ourselves from it. But this review has caused me to go on the defensive. I did everything I could to fit you in. I stayed open late on night to accommodate you before your wedding. I choose semi-permanent color because I thought the color you were choosing was too dark and dramatic. When you came back the second visit, you felt it wasn?t as dark enough. I can go on an on with all the requests you made. I did everything to make sure you were pleased with the service. I know that I can stand behind my work. The final result may not have been a color that you would want to have on your wedding day, but the color was exactly what you asked for.
