AMAZING !! BEST TIME EVER !!! – BELO ROCKS !!! all of you are hating cause you cant handle your liquor and you probably got kicked out before the night even started..
Not worth it. There is better clubs in san diego. The music wasn't that great and the security guards are jerks.
Great music, bad dance floor set up – okay the Security is ridiculous and borderline prejudice agains military patrons and minorities they made my husband tuck his Armani dress shirt into his Diesel jeans. Next the dance floor where the House/techno music was empty while the Hip-Hop room was so packed that you could not even dance, they need to move the hip-Hop room back to where the Techno room is at since the 3 times that I have been there it is always empty on Saturdays. I gave them a chance but we will NEVER go back there, by the way there is so much space in the Hip-Hop room for VIP but nobody ever uses it so if they opened it up there would be a lot more room.......Do not waste your time there.
Watch out – While it is convenient to use your credit card at the door the pending amount superceeds the amount that cost for entrace to the club. I did not notice this until later while checking my bank account statement. The bartender added a little extra to the tip amount that was specified on the receipt, then found another ghost charge of $25.00. I tried to contact the general manager Rob Matthews but with no response. Now is the way to conduct buiness especially for a fellow SanDiegan who frequents this club.
Gaslamp's glitzy new dance club combines retro/modern decor with a sophisticated menu and internationally acclaimed DJs. – In Short
Featuring a wild clash of neon colors, Jetsons-inspired furniture and pulsating lights in a massive 20,000 square-foot-space, this hotspot is divided into three main rooms for dining, dancing and mingling at the bar. Music spun by superstar DJs ranges from hip-hop and R&B to 80s dance favorites with occasional live performances. The menu offers big plates of appetizers for sharing plus dinner entrees like pumpkin ravioli, swordfish skewers and Creole lobster mac and cheese.
Horrible experiences here – I went to Belo on March 9, 2007 for Armin Van Buuren. I reserved my ticket and got in no problem that was the only good part of the night. Got downstairs and like everyone has stated before me drinks are WAY over priced and super small. OK, nothing new for big clubs but it really hurts the pocket. We went to the main dance floor and the sound system was absolutely the worst. It was just the opening DJ so we were thinking maybe this is just how they warm up the crowd. Nope, when the main DJ came on the sound system wasn't improved. It was all muffled and just the worst sound I have heard at a club.
We went to use the rest room and the line was crazy long. The line was so long it stretch from the bathroom to the hip hop DJ booth. Horrible!!!
The layout of the main room is also horrible. It isn't that deep but very wide with a VIP section taking up the back 1/5th of the room. There was so much pushing it was unbearable.
Finally, the smell of the club was horrible. Smelled like a sewer. Not sure what their problem is.
I love Armin's music but like the rest of my party we left early because of how bad this club is. Needless to say I won't ever go back. For as much as one spends to get in and spend on drinks, seems like they could use some of that money to make one's experience better. And get a new sound system!!! My $100 radio at home seriously sounds better then that muffled mess they have.
The Worst Bar in SD – Where do I start? This is the worst place I've been to in San Diego. In fact this is the worst place I've been to...ever! I went there with a few friends on Saturday night. We were put on the "guest list" which was a load of BS since they make you wait in line with walk-ins anyways. Once we finally got in, the first thing we noticed is that the place smelled like a public restroom that has never been cleaned. It was repulsive how disgusting it smelled, not just the restrooms in the back, but EVERYWHERE. They need to seriously upgrade their ventilation system.
We decided to get a drink, which was a total rip-off since I paid $10 and what I got was a small glass of club soda without any liquor in it. It was our first drink, and I had my friends try it just to make sure I wasn't wrong. When I brought it back to the bartender to tell her that I didn't think she put the alcohol in it, she responded with "well, you drank too much of it and you should have given it back to me after I first made it". She was right, but the place was packed and trying to get her attention was ridiculous. So I finally got helped by another bartender, which instead of fixing the situation, told me to go back to the bartender that made the drink! What kind of customer service is that? The sad thing is that I am a bartender, including the other 4 girls that I was with that tasted the drink and we know what a drink is supposed to taste like. I was completely ripped off and they did nothing about it.
Thinking that the night couldn't get any worse, it did. We were there for about 45 minutes, and within that time, every one of my friends including myself had been groped and basically harrassed by a number of guys. It was pathetic. It seemed as though they just let whomever they want into that bar as long as they pay the $20 cover, and the bouncers are useless. We left soon after and we will never go back.
So overall, we hated this place and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy....
truly a 'dance' club – There are a lot of clubs in san diego, but this is our first true "dance club", where everything from drinks to decor to theme nights -- it's all about music and dancing. there are two rooms, which i like because you can pick between hiphop and house, and they really do draw in the top djs. Yeah, the lines are long and door policy is strict, but if you into clubs and dancing -- this is the place.
Great Music PRICEY Drinks – Great Music, awesome DJs plus hot girls dancing on stage with skimpy lingerie...I went on a Friday night with my man around 10 and the place was empty. Didn't really pick up until 12am.
However, get drunk before you get in. Drinks are expensive. We got around 8 drinks and it cost us around $110. Cover is $20 per person. Within the first 10 minutes be expected to spend $60 for two ppl.
