I'm not generally a fan of steakhouses, which tend to be ripoffs, but I have a soft spot in my heart for Harry's, a quirky downtown meatery with a big, robust menu. Yes, the steaks are good, but also look at the thick canadian bacon (basically a ham steak), a giant crusty behemoth of a pork shank, and some really good shrimp cocktails and crab salads. Don't go unless you are on an expense account or with somebody who is, though. The prices are sky-high.

A Wall Street Institution returns – I haven't been to Harry's since it closed for renovations almost 3 years ago. The work that Peter and Harry have done to the space is great. The restaurant now has a cafe and steakhouse, and managed to keep a lot of the atmosphere that made the old Harry's so great. The cafe menu is broad, offering steaks, pasta dishes, and some great appetizers. Try the chicken kebobs, which are served with a small bbq grill that you can grill them on. Service was top notch, and the wine list will rival most of NYC's steak houses. Desserts were also superior-the apple crumb is highly recommended.

A downtown favorite returns, with two restaurants at the ready for bull and bear sessions. – In Short
A once-musty Wall Street favorite comes back after a three-year hiatus. Though the old patina may be gone, it re-emerges with new polish--and as two restaurants in one. Enter on Hanover Square for the buzzing cafe where lobster clubs, burgers and pastas enhance office-related conversations; step in from Pearl Street for the swankier, more intimate steakhouse, great for celebrating deals over porterhouses and king crab legs. Both options are as welcome in the area as a rallying stock market, especially during lunch hour.
