It is sad but this happens all the time , remeber Red Sqaure where a gun was brought in and a person was shot there ... do you blame the club or another idiot security Gaurd . There is a risk when drinking , drugs and late night clubs are involved in anything , oh yea Club somme another stabbing outside in the parking lot. .
Every company has made soem horrible mistake , and all they can do is correct it by firing the employee and changing its .
Shame on you Blur Bar aka Montrose Entertainment – Blur Bar...aka Montrose Entertainment should truly be ashamed...How much more of a public attempt at distancing yourself from a travesty could you really make then changing your business title days after a preventable murder occurred on your very doorstep? A bright, talented, loving part of our community was brutally murdered at your establishment in a scene that is the very embodiment of Apathy...When another human being pleads for their life no matter their differences or their similarities THERE SHOULD BE THE DECENCY OF ACTION...to know that a person was shut out of your bar after pleading for their life and then murdered in front of your security as well as patrons is unthinkable and the fact that the party continued if a travesty and in insult within itself (This is a direct police quote of what occurred found in the Houston Chronicle for reference)...because I value my own life and the life of those that I hold dear I would never attend your bar and I will gladly spread the word that no one with a glimpse of love for humanity should either...What a senseless loss...
Name Change Doesn't Mean Change of Heart – As many have read by this time, on December 10, 2010, a young man named Aaron Michael Sheerhoorn ran up to Blur Bar and said he had been stabbed and needed help. The bouncers closed the door on him. He attempted to run to another bar for help, but fell down in the parking lot and his assailant, still chasing him on foot, overpowered him and stabbed him to death.
Aaron was the helpless victim in this incident. But it could have been me. It could have been you.
How would you feel if Blur's bouncers had let your own brother die, without offering any help?
When human beings can't respond immediately to their human instincts to help another person in peril, then the party's over.
Your name change is nothing but cosmetic. What you really need, Blur Bar, is a change of heart.
Montrose Entertainment?!?...You mean BLUR?!?!? – Shame on you Blur...you can change many things including your name but you cannot change the circumstances and what transpired in your driveway...any occurance which happens that holds value deserves a recap...it is my pleasure to share the story with our readers thus, they will be informed patrons:
And...let not my opinion be considered bias...although I and many others loved Aaron Michael Sheerhoorn and are greiving his senseless murder at your establishment with no assistance to attempt to save his life and the fact that he was turned away by you in his time of need...I will opt for the police and the media to tell his story and convey your role in a precious life cut short as well...you cleared his memorials and sprinkled sand over his blood to "preserve your buisness this week"...you cannot do anything to cover the truth, his story or his life - your life as a buisness should be cut short as well...that is my hope and it will be one of my main perogatives.
Aaron Scheerhoorn, 28, Bayou Body Count No. 285:
A very public stabbing in Montrose Friday night is being described by police as a crime of passion.
Aaron Scheerhoorn, 28, as stabbed in front of witnesses standing outside of Club Blur on Pacific, the heart of Montrose's gay clubland.
Police told reporters that it was not a hate crime but more likely a "crime of passion."
The Houston Chronicle says:
The suspect pursued Aaron Scheerhoorn on foot in the 800 block of Hyde Park Boulevard late Friday. Scheerhoorn had already been stabbed once when the pair arrived on the front steps of Club Blur on the corner of Pacific and Crocker around 11:40 p.m.
The suspect proceeded to stab Scheerhoorn several more times, including wounds to the chest, abdomen, forearm, left side and hand, authorities said.
Anyone with information in the case is urged to call the HPD homicide division at 713- 308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
The official HPD version:
The victim was seen running southbound in the 2500 block of Crocker with an unknown black male chasing him. The victim ran up to the entrance door of Club Blur located at 710 Pacific. There, he pleaded for help and said he had been stabbed. At that time, he fell to the ground in the parking lot and was stabbed multiple times by the male chasing him. The incident occurred in the presence of security personnel from the nightclub and several club patrons. The suspect then fled on foot eastbound on Pacific. The victim was transported to the hospital.
I would never want to attend a bar where I have to step over a murder scene that could have been avoided and to think about the life that was lost...and God forbid I would ever have to place my safety in your hands inside of your bar or out...it is clearly not available...
This place ought to be ashamed! – If the rumors are indeed factual then I offer the following: You can change your name all you want, but in the end a life was lost and the employees of your establishment COULD have done something to help a fellow man in need and maybe in doing so, an awful tragedy could have been prevented! Period. If this is not the case, than I suggest Blur or Montrose Entertainment make a statment to the contrary. Otherwise, the actions of this "club," which allegedly promotes tolerance and love for all, are positively disgraceful and represent everything that is wrong with the world today. I wouldn't step foot in that place if ,my life depended on it and if that were in fact the case, the door personnel would tell me to screw anyway. Unbelievable...
Horrible place – This place needs to be sued and shut down. A person would be alive today if they helped the victim. Shame on you Blur. Hopefully you will be shut down SOON. Montrose does not want you here.
ANSWERS NEEDED REGARDING RECENT STABBING! – As all have likely heard, a young man was stabbed in the parking lot of Blur on Friday, 12/11.
News reports essentially state that the victim ran to the front steps of Blur, was begging for help, but received none. Rumor in the community is that Aaron, already stabbed once, was told by Blur security that the incident did not involve Blur, and he needed to keep it outside, where he was promptly killed.
If Blur feels they have no responsibility to our community, and offers no help to those in need, then our community should certain not support this establishment. Rumors and even news reports can be wrong, so I would encourage Blur to quickly explain its actions taken that night. Prior to that explanation, why in God's name would anyone go to this club? Does Blur give anything at all to our community? I sure don't ever hear about it.
I was mugged a couple of years ago, went to South Beach, and was quickly let in and allowed to use the phone. The guy at the door was very nice, and even got me a bottle of water, while I was waiting for the police to arrive. I didn't expect South Beach to solve the crime or anything, but they were decent and humane. I was completely upset, and they helped a person in need. What happened at Blur on 12/10?
USE THE VALET SERVICE!!!!! NO PARKING ON STREET. – I went to Blur Sunday evening for the first time. I am a single Hispanic female who does not live an alternative lifestyle and I had a great time. Great drinks and a great crowd. There was dancing in the main room and karaoke in the next. The drag queen in the restroom even touched up make-up. Next time I go to Blur I will valet.
I have no complaints about the club/bar. It was prior to entering that I will be careful anytime I go out.
I was with two friends (a guy and a girl) and we parked parallel as it is common in the area. We then proceeded to walk down the side walk of what is known to be a quiet neighborhood. The street was well lit. It was about 8:00 pm ish. Half way down the block a gold car dropped off a guy with a gun who then held up my guy friend. They guy was demanding his wallet . My other friend and I continued to walk toward the club. I looked back only once to catch a glimpse even though I was really scared. The guy had on a ski mask, a black jacket with his hood over his head and a pair of blue jeans. Thank GOD that my friend was not hurt. They let him go after taking his wallet which only had 1 credit card, an expired ID and no cash. They did not ask for his keys or cell phone. My friend filed a police report and canceled his credit card. The sad thing is, there was a police car already circling the area where the incident happened. Crooks are just so fearless.
Horrible place with bouncers who cause serious injuries. – Please be aware that if you sit down and lean against the wall, you can get in serious trouble at Blur. Rude bouncers will immediately kick you out only for this, then assault you verbally and physically outside. At the and you might find out that they broke your arm.
This is the worst place I have ever seen. If anything happens to you, please report them to BBR, TABC and call 911 if they assault you.
Awsome Club – I see the other reviews and can't believe what people are say..Blur is so much fun! Its the only gay club I have been to where GLBT and even Straight people can all party under one roof. You can' t do that at South Beach Unless your Tweeked OUT which most of the people at South Beach are. BLUR is the best. Love the music. The staff knows me by name. I could not ask for a better club.
