Worst dining experience ever – This was definitely my all time WORST dining experience. The service was terrible from the waitstaff to the bartenders. They were rude and definitely made it clear that we were just another group of customers. The waitress was flaky and completely messed up our check and then tried to make us feel bad about it. The food was definitely average. This used to be a place I enjoyed visiting on occasion but I will never return. There are many more restaurants out there that treat their customers well and provide great service that I do not plan on wasting my time or money at Coal Vines.
Good food, Great Service – I have to be honest I took my wife to coal vines b/c of the mixed reviews that I have read about it. The reviews that I have looked over gave it high regards in the food catigory but very low in service. I must say that we had a pizza that was good, but service that was great. People that write these reviews must understand that when you take a group into a small establishment don't think that you are gods gift to the dollar, this business is out to make money. Take large groups at off times and if you must take a group that is large move quickly. You people that think b/c you go into this restaurant and spend money you own the table have got to get your head out!! If you enjoy the food go on off times to sit and chat or go when it is busy and move your a** period.
These People are Nasty – This is a place for the people of Dallas who don't demand even a decent service. The staff is rude and completely unprofessional. Don't go there unless you want to be treated like an animal.
I Believe in Good Pizza – Top pizza in Dallas. "In Dallas" is an important qualifier. Not fine dining but a great place to eat. Take the time to flip over a hot slice and notice the slight browning underneath. Sauce to cheese to toppings ratio is good and it never arrives soggy or greasy. Hot, each slice is perfect for folding. Good wine specials and fair prices. Salads are delicious.
The place is reasonably priced, sort of a nice, cozy hole in the wall. Been amost a dozen times now and have an cccasional wait, but the place is small so we grab a bottle at the bar. If you sit in the back, Asian girl's section, Ann, guaranteed you'll get top notch service and honest food recommendations. Plus, they have late night hours which is very nice.
Don't waste your time or money!!!!!!!!!!! – I've never taken the time out to write a review, but after the unacceptable service my friends and I received (while celebrating a birthday), I figured I owed future diners a preview of a night out at Coal Vines. The evening started out with a 90 minute wait, but what do you expect since the entire restaurant is made up of about twenty tables. We stood outside by the door, drinking the wine we bought at the overcrowded bar, since there was inadequate seating in the restaurant. When we were finally seated, we were rushed through our mediocre dinner, and our glasses and plates were cleared when it was obvious our evening there was not over yet. The final straw was when the host came to our table and said, "Are you about ready to go, we still have lots of people waiting to be seated." A fellow patron at another table overheard the host and was just as disgusted as we were. I approached the owner about the horrible experience we received at his establishment, and instead of trying to rectify the horrible service, he defended his host. I let him know that we would not be recommending this restaurant to anyone, and he said, "please don't", so that is exactly what I am doing. There are plenty of other trendy eateries in Dallas that offer impressive service with food worth a 90 minute wait. Do yourself a favor and take your money anywhere besides Coal Vines. Campisi's pizza is by far superior anyway!
worst service EVER – Please pay attention to previous reviews, the service is easily the worst i have ever experienced in Dallas. The manager, Joe, was SO rude, I could hardly believe it. We actually ended up walking out of the restaurant. This place needs a serious attitude adjustment. I've eaten here a couple of times before, and found the food enjoyable, but even if this was the most amazing pizza ever, I would NOT return. I don't give money to restaurants to be treated like they are doing me a favor by acknowledging me. I'll take my business to Fireside Pies instead..good pizza, good service = loyal customers. Coal Vines needs to figure that out before I ever return.
Manager JEFF harasses his employees, steals their money – Jeff, the manager at Coal Vines, is the reason I boycott this place and encourage you to do the same.
He shaves everyone's hours down to 40/week. If they are entitled to over time, he takes it away.
Additionally, he harasses his (mostly female) staff by telling them they are 'moody b!tches' and telling them to 's_ck my d!ck.' He prohibits his employees from speaking to each other during their shifts.
Eventually the toxic environment will ruin the food.
Bad Service, small place – Very bad service. The a place very small and crowded of people who don't know any better pizza in Dallas.
Rude Service – The people who run this place think they are giving you free food and you have to behave as they tell you. They want to hurry you out of there before you finish eating. I don't know how they are able to stay in business treating their customers in such a rude way. I guess people in Dallas don't demand good and respectable service whan spending their money.
Worse Staff in Dallas, They are very Rude – This place could be good, but the people working there are the nastiest people in Dallas. They just want your money. They watch you very intensely to kick you out once they think you are done eating.
Very rude and uncaring people, go to Fireside Pies or Nona instead.
