BEWARE FINAL PART.. PLEASE START WITH PART 1 BELOW – Roger claims to have done the inspection back in March of 07’, something called a “self certification” meaning he is authorized to do it without the DOB showing up. But according to the plumbing department at the Queens DOB office, they never received the paperwork he was supposed to submit. So now the job remains open and the violation still unpaid and due, and it cannot be paid until the final inspection is done. And all this after he had the nerve to put a lien on my building! So of course I am taking him to court for all this. Do you have any idea how much time, trouble, stress and money this has caused my life! Really… all over what should have been a 4 day at most, for a $2600 plumbing job! It incredible.

Feel free to contact me with any questions and I can even show you the proof from the DOB and other documents I have. Whatever you do don’t fall for Roger MaCaluso’s fast talk. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a plumber.

Thank you for reading the long post, it's just way to much to put into the 4000 charter limit that city search has.

BEWARE...PART 2 - SEE PT ONE BELOW... – WHAT THE HELL!! This guy is nuts! Not only that, but it is a very high likelihood that he called the DOB. After all, HE KNOWS that the fine, getting a permit and responsibility to finish the job lies on the homeowner…NOT ON THE PLUMBER, but he never mentioned this or the requirement for getting a permit. But he knew all along that we needed one “technically” as he put it! I was really in a bind, and at this point I had no choice but to pay BlueWater Plumbing to proceed.

That was around January 6th of 2007, it took Bluewater Pumbing until March 12 of 2007 to obtain a permit, that’s 3 months; because he had trouble obtaining his insurance and also filed paperwork incorrectly. During that period I had to live somewhere else because there was no shower, sink, toilet, or kitchen sink in my apartment. Also the marble work that was supposed to be finished was greatly delayed because of this.

I was extremely stressed, out as my Co-op board was on my back because the renovation was going over schedule, and the fine form the DOB was registered on the building files with the DOB. I also wasted numerous hours dealing with the DOB, trying to reach Rodger (which is difficult to do when he wants to avoid you as HE WILL ONLY GIVE YOU HIS answering service number) and a hearing at the DOB that I had to take an entire day off from work to deal with, and in the end I got fined $800 dollars anyway.

In the middle of March 2007 he finally scheduled to do the first inspection (on his own) and finish the job, which at this point only required one more day of work. Unbelievable, 3 months for one more day of pluming work, really painful for me! The sad part is that it doesn’t end here.

On the last day, his workers came to finish setting in the fixtures and his guys refused to set the sink, claiming that they did not want to drill holes needed to set the sink, into the marble walls. So again, after all this, I had to do it. Then, after attaching all the plumbing pipes for the dishwasher they went to set it, and cracked the brand new water disposal tube that came with the dishwasher. When they ran the dishwasher, it leaked everywhere. So they told me not to use it, and they would come the next day to put a new one in. The next day, the an employee of Blue Water swung buy and threw in a thin, cheap, soft flexible rubber hose in it’s place. This hose was not the proper one and kept bending not letting the water out of the dishwasher. It clogged up the dishwasher leaving the bottom full with dirty dishwater.

At this point the last portion of payment was due, upon speaking with Roger, he said all I needed to do was order the new hose and he would replace it, and when he came to replace it, he would collect the final payment. Which was about $900 hundred dollars at this point. Just to get “Roger” out of my life, I agreed. I ordered the part, it came in 5 days, and I called Roger to schedule an appointment.

He never showed up!! I tried calling and calling and calling his answering service, but he never got back to me. Literally the entire summer went by and he never returned my calls.

Then in the beginning of September 2007, I received a notice that there was a lien put on my co-op by Blue Water Plumbing & Heating! WHAT, I could not believe it!! This guy is the most unscrupulous businessman I have ever dealt with! Not only did he put a lien on my apartment (which meant my building, because it was a co-op) but he even increased the amount that was owed to him from around $900 to $1400!! If you don’t know what a lien is (I didn’t) then Google it and you’ll see how serious it is against your property. I mean we are talking bank foreclosure here!

As if this story is not bad enough, it is now January 2012, and I AM STILL DEALING WITH A BAG OF PROBLEMS!! The DOB will not close out the job and I cannot pay the fine until the job is closed out with the DOB. I am stuck in a catch 22!!

BEWARE....part 1 – Rodger MaCaluso licensed master plumber and the owner of Blue Water Plumbing and Heating, came to give me a free estimate for a bathroom and kitchen renovation I was planning in my Co-op. He went over the project in great detail, presented himself very well and sounded like a stand up guy with solid pluming knowledge. So I gave him a deposit on the spot, and he agreed to start what he said would be a 3-4 day job within 2 weeks.

The first day started as a disaster, he came with two workers and was completely unprepared with materials. He made a list of pluming supplies and asked me to go get them, complaining that if one of his guys left, it would take time away form their work day, and I would end up paying for their overtime. What? So I went, in fact I ended up going back and fourth 5 times that day. Unbelievable, but it was to late to turn back at that point. Not only that, but when removing my old tub that day, Rodger was so reckless he broke an expensive showerhead I was planning to reuse and wouldn’t take responsibility for it. They finally set the new tub in place, but it was shaky and I was told that the cement they put under would harden overnight and it would be solid in the morning.

The next day it was not solid and they wasted the entire morning removing the new tub. Then Rodger complained that it was the floor that needed to be made solid, and that it was not his job to do it. So if I didn’t hire a carpenter or do it myself he wasn’t going to be responsible for it. What? I was paying him a lot of money to replace the old tub, and now he pulls this? So I fixed it myself, all it needed was a few sheetrock screws to stabilize the planks of wood. Most of the rest of the day was spent resetting the tub they had set the day before. Even though it was completely his screw up, all he did was complain that the time that was wasted doing this again, was eating into his schedule to complete the job and that It might cost me extra. What??

The third day, which by the way was rescheduled until the following week, because Roger said he had another job that was more important to take care of. What? That day the workers set the kitchen sink pipes about 1.5 feet to far from where the kitchen sink was to go. When they realized, they didn’t want to fix it. After speaking to Roger about it he said they would not fix it and I should just cut the entire back panel on my brand new kitchen sink cabinet to make the pipes fit. WHAT!!! I just couldn’t believe this. This was the last straw. At this point I had already given him a deposit and 1/3 of the estimate. And the day earlier I had just given him another check for the next 3rd payment.

I asked him to fix the kitchen pipes and or I would stop payment on the check until it was fixed properly. He said he would fix it, but would charge me $150 per hour do it, and that it would take at least half a day. WHAT AGAIN? All it required was un-soldering the wrong pipes where they stuck out and moving them 8 inches over. He was being completely ridiculous, complaining about everything…. “oh, it’s tough to park around your apartment, traveling time cost money, I have to carry tools up and down”, etc, etc…completely full of crap…and he was totally being stubborn. He said NO! So I stopped payment on the check.

That night “someone” called the Department of Buildings (DOB) and said there was a pluming job going on in my apartment without a permit. The next day an inspector came by and gave me a fine (witch will be at least $800) and stops the job until a permit is filed permit and an expectation is conducted. So I call Rodger and ask him why the hell he didn’t get a permit for the job, and he tells me “oh it’s such small job you didn’t need a permit, well technically we needed one, but not really”.
