oscar de la hoya/ Tyson Beckford/ and David Beckham. that is the bartender – me and my girlfriends, were walking down 9th ave...we decided to go to a hookah lounge...it was ok at 1st nothing really special. Then he came...an amazing bartender who looks amazing...it was funny to see such a good looking guy at a hookah lounge in the middle of no where. He was very nice and made some drinks that tasted like heaven. the service was great and the guy looked great I go now once in a while to go see him.
Awesome Time – My friends and I went there after a couple of places... This place was awesome... lots of rooms, great music, great atmosphere.... and the hookahs are so much fun... Love this place
Great Place – I came here on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday. AT first I was a little weary due to some of the reviews read upon citysearch. I decided to give this place a shot because they are undergoing new management and such sort. I must say this place was fabulous. It was a bit hectic-ish because it was also the owners birthday, so they had a party in the back. Customers were allowed to the back and able to celebrate as well. Their drinks were amazing. It's nice and strong. The hookah is good as well but the drinks are truly amazing. The bartender [I don't quite remember her name but she was a really nice person] recommended the mango rum chilled. That was an amazing drink! Especially the way she made it because she also left ice in it as well.
The place is very relaxing, very relaxing and I will go def go back. The bartenders and workers are all very good looking. Depending on what you like, you will find your "type" there. I def recommend this place
Hottie alert – This place is unbelievable! A bit small but cozy. Warm and interesting. the swing is awesome, the hookahs are cool, and the bartender is hottttt!!! He made the best lemon drop i've ever had! This is becoming my spot for sure! only thing that was a bit disappointing was the fact that there was NO FOOD! I hope you guys fix that soon. other than that, Door Lounge=Hell Yes! :)
Worst customer Service – Called on phone to ask bar was open on a recent night I wanted to come. Guy who answered was RUDE, RUDE, on phone and I was told bar was open, only to get there with a group to see they were closed for a private party. Only writing this because they also fell through when I tried to book a birthday party there in October, so im just done with this bar. It used to be a cool place , but they really need to work on getting their staff together.
The Door Rocks!!!!! – My name is Daniel (or as my fellow co-workers and regulars call me, Paris)
I am an employee at this establishment, and as your resident bartender i would like to personally apologize to the patrons who left their less than impressed reviews about the staff.
I have read the reviews and would like to retort:
If you've had some trouble with booking the place for an event, we apologize for the incompetence of the person taking your reservations.
As a business, we prefer to have fabulous patricians who reflect the good tastes of a midtown bar/lounge in hells kitchen. We do not condone to "dodgy looking people" . Hence our security.
In regards to a review which mentioned an issue with Hep. A, we would never be so irresponsible as to endanger any of our guests. That was a contained incident regarding one of our employees at the time and we were taking cautionary procedures to ensure the health of everyone there, staff and/or otherwise.
I would also like to apologize to any of our guests who felt service was anything but exceptional. The work ethic of one person reflects on us as a whole. We have been working on creating a staff of individuals who love what they do, and do it professionally. So your next experience will be nothing less than delightful.
Finally, regarding music. We recently hired a resident DJ for the Lounge. If you were unsatisfied with the music before it was because we had a limited selection. Usually if you throw an event you are asked to bring a DJ, a mix CD, or an ipod. Otherwise we can't meet requests, we hope this won't be a problem anymore.
In conclusion, The Door Lounge is now a live studio! you can watch us online @ rockmetv usually after 6pm. Our food menu has improved, and we are currently developing a new cocktail list. The venue has been renovated with the inclusion of 2 mini bars, plasma screens and will continue to upgrade steadily. So come by and kick back, have a good time, you will not be disappointed!
New Owner - New Managment - New Sound - New Look – My name is Kaine and I am the proud owner of InListcom, The Nightlife Network. The Door Owner (Phil) and I have talking about a major change the The Door Look, Sound and Staff. And Phil has been doing just that. If you been here and like what you heard and seen, come back, you will love it even more. And if you been here with the old owner (d*ck head), come check out The Door now, you will not be disappointed! See Ya There!
DO NOT GO HERE – Avoid this place. I had a booking on Saturday for 20 people for a birthday party. I made the booking in person with some idiot (you know who you are Jay!). When I phoned on Sat afternoon to ask about bringing a cake, I was told that the place was shut as the owner was having a party!! Nice! As it happens, there is a far better place across the road called Tagune - unlike the Door, it's not pretentious, the staff don't have an attitude and the food is not rubbish. From what I hear anyway, the Door is building a reputation as a place where some unsavory people hang out, and that was a concern to me when I booked it as there were some dodgy looking people in there. Do yourself a favor and head elsewhere - this place is a dump and I suspect it'll not be open for long. I wouldn't rate it even a one but had to give it something it seems.
Avoid this place at all costs, When I was there, A bunch of officials where inquiring about a employee that had come down with hepatitus A – Beyond the scare of catching some disease, A short spanish looking waitress ignored us all night, we had to go to the bar for our second round of beer (we did not drink out of the glasses due to what we overheard from the people that were there conducting a inspection about a employee that came down with hepatitus) The food there looked good, but again why eat there? We had to pay our check at the bar because the waitress was watchig television. We asked for the manager, When he arrived he looked disheveled and smelled of booze. He said his name was charlie and he would give us some free drinks if we stayed. We passed on them and left. This place should be closed down, It is a dump that smells rank, The staff is rude and the manager looks like a homeless drunk. I feel bad for who ever the owner is of this place.
disappointing. – The interior deco is amazing. I love the swinging couch. I reserved a room for my birthday party and was pretty disappointed. I first came to the lounge a few months before and actually had a good time. The drinks were great, the staff was pretty attentive, etc. But for my party, they seemed like they knew nothing. The drinks were pretty bad, the music sucked (they kept repeating "Gimme More" by Britney Spears). I asked them if they could play something else and totally disregarded my request. My guests were leaving before 11pm!! I must have picked a bad night but I was pretty disappointed.
