Very Professional Staff – Found this firm through Joe's website and hired them to handle my very messy tax situation. IRS had my account frozen, they said we had back taxes due. All my old paperwork was lost a few years ago during a fire we had at the business and the damage eventually forced us to close down. Recently we got jobs & were trying to pay on our bills, when the IRS did that to us. We went through an audit, and a lot of trouble last year. Me and the wife both have health problems and really couldn't handle all this stress anymore.
On top of all things, we made some poor choices in the past and hired bad help, had a young inexperienced lawyer trying to help us out with the IRS, and the only thing he did was to get us into more trouble. At least we put a stop to it and fired him before it could get entirely out of control.
When I first saw Joe's videos on his site, I felt a sense of confidence that he knew what he was talking about, so that's why we hired him. When we visited his office in Houston everyone was nice to us and we were assured that they will do whatever they can to clear up the mess we were in, and told us that contrary to popular belief, the IRS can be reasoned with if you know how to approach them correctly. In the past coupled of months since we hired Joe's firm we've managed to get the IRS to talk to us and negociate a settlement.
This is still hard for us but at least we're clear with the IRS now, and we can move on with our lives, both me and the wife are over 50 and don't have the energy to deal with such stress anymore, we're just thankful we found Joe and that they managed this critical situation for us.
Friendly staff... slow work – We've just been audited by the IRS and silly me, represented ourselves at the audit. Now we have a bill of over $100k and we just don't have the time to sort through all the receipts and records. After reading the reviews, we went with Joe. They charge a $300 upfront fee just to talk and see if they can help us, which I wasn't happy with, but I paid. Then we didn't meet Joe himself, we saw one of his colleagues instead. He was very reasonable about what we can expect and told us our best bet is to file an appeal. So we agreed and left our files in his hands. 2 weeks later, we found that they're trying to put together my receipts and files to re-submit to the same auditor! When I inquired about the appeal, the paralegal told me that re-submitting to the auditor is the next step and this is what they're doing. I wasn't too happy, but I went along with it. They're the CPA, so they know what they're doing, right? Anyway, another 2 weeks later and several phone calls, I'm finally getting a long list from the paralegal asking me to put together a spreadsheet of my expenses and receipts and telling me that the auditor was being generous and that I am lucky I'm only fined $100k. Meanwhile, they're already racked up over $1700 in charges to my account. Not sure how you would take this, but we decided to go with an IRS lawyer instead.
I do have to say, the staff there are very friendly and seem sincere in wanting to help. Their rates are also fairly reasonable. When we did speak with the associate, he was helpful in explaining what we can expect during the audit process. Maybe because it's tax time, but I do feel that they were slow in working my file. It shouldn't take a month for them to just go through the audit report and then after $1700 in fees, ask ME to put together a list of my expenses and organize my receipts. But then again, that's just me. I expect more service with my money.
GOOD HELP – Been using this firm for 2 years now and they always came through for us. Our business runs smoother now that we don't have to worry about any tax problems.
Their website is a valuable source of information on many tax subjects, found it very useful for my own personal dealings with the IRS.
Straight 5 star service if you ask me!
saved my home – Earlier this year I was shocked to find out that my husband was in deep trouble with the IRS. We've been living separated for the last year but we were still legally married. He was the one who moved out of the house, so one day I get a notice from the IRS about them levying some of our properties, including the house where I was living in. You can imagine my shock, I had no idea we owed any taxes.
I was so mad, but managed to clear my head enough to figure I'm never gonna get the whole truth out of George so I decided to follow my own best interest and protect myself from whatever he got himself into. I was also afraid I'm going to loose my home and everything I worked for to the IRS.
I did a lot of research over the Internet and finally came upon Joe Matriano's website, and read his innocent spouse advice, which convinced me I needed to hire his professional services.
It turns out my husband was in much bigger trouble than I imagined, but luckily most of that trouble he "earned" before we got married so Joe managed to save part of our commonly owned assets, including my home which was that only thing I really cared about.
Needless to say that the next thing I did was to get a proper divorce as fast as possible, and I haven't been in contact with George ever since, I'm just happy I got to keep my home and that I can move on with my life.
So I want to thank Joe and everyone in his firm for being so helpful and understanding with me, I sincerely recommend them to anyone going through any kind of tax or IRS problems.
good services – Me and my wife used Joe's services for the first time about 8 years ago when we got married. None of us really knew much about taxes and after we married we decided we were going to let a professional put together and file our joint return. Joe came with high recommendations from a common friend, actually it was my wife's brother, he had a small business at that time and handled all his tax issues through Joe. A few years back, me and the wife started our own business online, and again we turned to Joe's firm for assistance since many of his clients are small businesses just like ours. Joe has been an important part of our financial security for all these years and he helped us in more ways that I can imagine. We are all ok with our taxes, and in good standing with the IRS both as a family and with our business which has been picking up. If you are in need of a true tax professional to help you out in any matters of taxes or the IRS, give Joe a call and you won't be disappointed.
Always Top Notch Service – Used this company for many years of taxes for business and for personal. Always top notch. Best understanding of the IRS of anyone. Want to see for yourself? They have a free download on their site. It educates me more than any thing I ever did, all books, and my past accountants. Want to sleep at night, read it!
ex employee – I work for Joe Mastriano for a few months, back in 2010, and I just wanted to say that he is a demanding boss, but has always treated me fairly while I was there. Not many people have what it takes to work with him, but from what I've seen he's a very good tax professional and he runs his business right. I just wanted to leave this message here as a response to some of the complaints I've seen. Joe's firm handles hundreds of clients each year both people and businesses, it's only normal that out of all the many satisfied customers, a very small number will find reasons to complain. But some people can't be satisfied no matter what you do for them, I know this from my own experience. I left Joe's company because I was looking into a different career, not because I couldn't keep up with him, I guess other people just couldn't cope, that's their problem. I recommend Joe's firm to anyone looking to solve their tax issues. That's all I had to say!
Thanks! – I had not filed my taxes properly for a couple of years now, didn't care much for doing so nor did I ever have any concerns about the IRS knocking on my door. This summer I started receiving letters from the IRS, which I was foolish enough to ignore, till a few months ago when I got slapped with an IRS audit notice. Obviously I didn't have a clue as to what to do, went through a great deal of panic and I'd lie if I'd say I wasn't a bit scared, so I asked around and one of my friends recommended I called this CPA guy Joe Mastriano. I've never hired such services before in my life, and I had my doubts about paying, what seamed to me at that time, a pretty large fee, to have someone deal with the IRS for me. My friend talked me into it, and it was probably the best decision I ever made. It was a difficult time for me but with Joe's help I managed to get through the IRS audit and came out pretty well out of it too. Now I realize that were it not for Joe's help, the IRS would have probably ripped me apart for all the money that I had, and then some. Now I have a much better respect for filing taxes and especially for people that have to face the IRS on a daily basis, and I think Joe's fees reflect the value of his services and are a reasonable investment that can literally save your life's earnings. Thanks again Joe, and also thank your assistant for having so much patience with me, I know I'm a difficult person to work with.
Stop Slandering my name!!! – Stop putting my name up on here Joe! Take down my name from here. I never wrote any of those comments.
I have many things I can say about you. If you don't take my name down I will post things that you won't like, but that are very much true.
If you don't take my name down off this webpage I will continue to put more comments up and contact my lawyer for SLANDER. Yes, Joe I have a lawyer and I do have the funds, so don't push me. Remember I have recordings and pictures of you not being a professional business man with your employees. Stop your hatred towards me because I stood up for my rights.
People should stand up for their rights when they are being pushed around by bullies like you and a perv that doesn't know how to control himself.
So please, take down my name and any comments pertaining to me.
U.S. Tax Shield Needed 4 Sure – I needed someone to shield me from the IRS, just like the commercials I saw. Just got my audit papers from the agent at the IRS. We are retired and have rental houses, and also investment property that we flip for profit. Whenever there is any profit :).
The agent disallowed depreciation on the rental property. He said it was like inventory, because he asked me if i ever intended to sell it and I said yes.
The CPAS at this company said they represented cases like mine before, so I hired them. During the consultation, they took out tax books and showed me how you can have different types of property on the same tax return. They were professional, explained in detail how things are calculated.
My wife and I felt like we had that shield we needed against the IRS. We've had prompt contact with them getting receipts and other docs together. They haven't met with the agent yet, but after talking to other CPAs, they agreed with what we were told.
I just had to share the experience. There are CPAs who do this, without being afraid of the IRS. You don't have to hire some high priced lawyer, who won't even return your phone calls.
