Last chance for romance ruined! – I went to Ghost Bar for the first time on Saturday, having heard many good things about it I decided it would be a good place to take my cousin for her bacholorette party. We get there around ten and there wasnt much of a wait at the door, we had our names on the list so we bypassed all this. However once inside we waited for about 15min watching other people come in make another line and go ahead of us. Never asked why didnt want an excuse. Once inside the place the ladies and I made our way to the bar where we were ignored by all the female bartenders who were of course catering more to the men. We waited there for another 7-8 minutes (standing at the bar, not in line) before the bartender finally asked what she could get us. Now I am not high maintnence by any means of the imagination but I do enjoy a glass of wine, and for such an "up scale" place you would think that wouldnt be a problem. Two kinds, thats it Chardony and Merlot thats all you get. So I go for a vodka and red bull....10 bucks. A coors light for my friend 6bucks. So far I am not impressed. So we go around the bar to see what it has to offer....nothing thats what. Most of the people there have their noses too far in the air to see that they just bumped into you and spilled half of your ten dollar drink. Well let see if there are any cute men here....Nope, none want to know why, because it costs them 40dollars to get in the door. I understand that men will go where the women are, but I dont think in Dallas they are that desperate for women or other places to find them. Oh and at this point I should let you know, there is no where to sit, unless you have shelled out 1000.00 for a table. So here we are 11 girls out for a night of fun standing in our high hills with our 10 dollar drinks with nothing to do. Needless to say I was less than impressed and next time will go for the cliche bacholrette party at LeBare.
Taste the High Life, and Pay for It – Went to Ghostbar for the first time last night (a Saturday night). Can't decide how else to write the review, so I'll go chronologically. I was lead to believe by the website that cover was $20 and you don't have to be on a guest list. This was acceptable to me, and I was prepared to wait in line, etc, etc. I showed up at around 10, and there was a small line for people who are on the guest list. How you get on and how much you pay - - don't know, couldn't figure out. They told me there was a different line for people not on the list, and sent me around the corner. Fine. I get there, and there's no line at all, but the bouncer told me it would be $40 to get in. This really wouldn't have annoyed me half as much if they had been honest on
their website about this. So that's one star subtracted.
I paid anyway, because I wanted to see what all the hype was about, and went up to the actual club. Pretty posh, about what you'd expect. Gives Dallasites an opportunity to feel like they're clubbing at the celebrity venues of, say, LA or NY. Drinks were about $10 each, which I expected, but I was a little put-off having just spent so much to get in. Anyway, fantastic view, all that other stuff. The crowd was very diverse, and overall I met alot of friendly people. Speaking as a single guy, I can definitely tell you that this is a good place to pick up women. That having been said, I feel like part of paying cover is to ensure the quality of women inside, and this was pretty lacking. About half of the women were acceptably attractive, and the other half was made up of old, ugly, trampy, or some combination. There were only a handfull of knockouts. So that's another star down.
I think Ghostbar deserves some rep for being a pretty venue with a high-class feel, but overall it was a let down. Let-down factor takes it down another half-star. Could it have lived up to my expectations? I think yes. Better face control + some honesty about price.
Showed us a great time!! – We went down for a girls weekend. We got VIP w/bottle service at Ghostbar on Sat. night. It was truly a great experience. We were treated like queens when we came in, the waitress was very sweet, and the VIP host was great. I would HIGHLY recommend getting bottle service. It is very pricey but well worth it. We loved it so much we bought a second bottle. No waiting at the bar or hasseling to get a drink.
We had a small problem with the bottle, the woman on the phone told me Grey Goose was included in the $300 and when we got our bill it was $350. I asked for a manager and they didn't change the price but offered to buy us a couple rounds the next time we came in. Which I thought was very nice since I did see a price list but failed to notice the difference.
The view was great and the decor in the bar is nothing short of awesome!! Good music, we danced ALL night!
The only bad thing I can say about this bar is the crowd. Everyone in there seemed to be too good for us, or was trying way to hard to be noticed and picked up by a rich person. That sounds silly but it is SOOO true!!
It didn't bother us because we were having our own little booth party, so we had a BLAST!!
Thanks to Carla, Brad, and everyone else who took care of us on Saturday!!
Annoying!! – If you want a place to go to throw around money you don't really have-this is it.
I went to Ghost with three other girls for a fun night out-but by the time we stepped off the elevator into the bar, I was already done!! Everyone there was really trying hard to look alot more important than they are-which gets old fast. Slow drink service, nasty guys grinding on me-no thanks!! Save your money and your time and go somewhere else.
Best Sizzle – Ghostbar is a blast! My girls and I went up there to celebrate my and my friend's birthday. We were treated with great respect by the hot VIP host and the cute and bubbly waitress was awesome. It is always nice to find a place that not only has a beautiful view, but a staff that gets it and has fun with the patrons. Its funny how all the people who don't have a good time at ghostbar can get on here and say nasty distasteful things, all the while trying to prove their credibility as they misspell words and make up stories. To each their own though, having fun is what you make it. Ghostbar made it a blast for us! Woo hoo! I will be heading back ASAP!
NOT GOOD! – This place has gone down hill since the day it opened. The type of people you should expect to see in this bar are your typical 30k millionares... People throwing around money that they don't have... The cocktailers no longer even make $300 on a saturday night, and so a lot of them having been quiting... Same goes for the male/bouncers... They had some good looking ones up there, but I recently found out they've quit too... The management doesn't care, and still holds their head up high... I am not sure why this place has a 8.4 rating... Should be a 5.4 in my opinion... The whole scene is just overated... The W hotel is just a failure all together... Poorly constructed and way overpriced, and the staff aren't that great. Not to mention a lot of the staff do inappropriate things in the parking lots around the W hotel... You could do much better at the Omni Hotel or The Crescent Hotel.
Beautiful club, poorly executed – Well, after all the hype... I expected much more than I got! After riding the elevator to the top floor.. I was welcomed into a beautiful club... however... it was downhill from there. First of all, the only way you can get in is if you are part of a group that bought a table (at an outrageous price!) Then the servers are slow (because the poor girls are bound together in spandex and working too many tables at once,) and the crowd was less than desirable. I say avoid the hype, stick to the downstars bar for a more laid-back, fun atmosphere.
Too much hype...just another trendy Dallas bar – I know that everyone wants to go to Ghost Bar to at least say they had been, but trust me: you're not missing much. The view is pretty awesome, but no better than you could get atop Reunion Tower or on the roof of Southside on Lamar...and I am pretty sure they don't charge you an arm and a leg to do that. The waitresses were cute but snotty, and the VIP tables are a complete waste: paying $300/bottle just to be able to sit down is insane...especially given that the place isn't even that spectacular. The decor is cool and trendy, but nothing to really knock your socks off. The crowd was pretty young and drunk, which means that unless you are completey trashed yourself, it's an annoying group (at least on the particular Saturday night that I experienced Ghost...so to be fair, it could have just been a bad night). Everyone was dressed to impress, but it seemed to only create an atmosphere of hyper self-awareness. All in all, Ghost Bar is ok, but definitely not worth all the hype and hassle. The best things about this place were the male staff/bouncers, who were very sweet and respectful, and, despite the lack of dance floor (which didn't stop most from dancing wherever there was space), the music/DJ was pretty good (pop/dance/80s/R&B). Hopefully things slow down a bit to calm down the lines and prices at Ghost...then it might actually become a great staple in Dallas nightlife. Until then, it's an overrated novelty.
