Only if you want to look like a streetwalker – They will probably have to close their original store, which is why their new store is in a bad part of town. There's no way they could keep their doors open anywhere nice. The owner didn't listen to me at all. She didn't even get the color right. It was awful. If you want to look like a caricature from Brooklyn, then this is the place for you.

man-friendly salon – After years of impersonal service at barbershops and"salons",it is a pleasure to visit

either of these shops.I've been going to Le Chandelier from day one,and I'm glad to see it expanding westward. As a native New Yorker, brusque service,bums-rush departures and cancellations have been plentiful.I haven't had any problems here with a rare exception when a picky customer ahead of me stays a little longer than expected. It's a hop skip and jump from the LES and there is plenty to do once your out there. All in all worth the visit!

Take the treck, it's worth it! – The last negative review was sent in by a worker who got fired for her bad attitude and is now trying to ruin Tara's name. Just read past reviews of Tara on the Le Chandelier page and it will be evident. I am a customer of Tara's and just came from her new location today. At first I was not too excited to go to her new place on 3rd Ave since it's not on the main strip (5th Ave) but once I walked in to her salon, my opinion changed. The space is beautiful and it's onlty two blocks from the avenue. From the elegant tile work on the floor to the sculptures and chaise lounge, this place is fit for a Queen. Much to my own surprise, I prefer her new location to the one on fifth. Kudos!

Editorial Review – Smaller sister salon of its popular Fifth Avenue counterpart offers a full menu of services including styling, makeup and updos.

What a big dissapointment – I made an appointment with Tara at her 5th Ave store, from reviews on this website & others. I arrived at the store & was told that she was not working from this location, but their other store on 3rd (opended a month ago). I originally told the girl that I wanted an appointment at the 5th Ave location, as was closer. As I was desperate for a good cut, I dragged myself there, the receptionist calling ahead to inform Tara that I would be late. When I arrived at the Petit Salon, Tara appeared & then did some maintence issues for another 10 minutes. By the time my hair had been washed her next (more important) appointment had arrived. She cut a few chunks out of my hair & then removed my gown & put me under a "natural" hair dryer. The next appointment had her hair washed, cut & blowwaved before I had finished. Tara finally came over, with my clothes & body covered in hair, showed me a mirror which reflected a horror movie (forget any hand held hairdryer, product, brushes or styling tips). I tried to remove as much hair as I could from my clothes in front of her, but was a pointless excercise, and her reaction appeared like that was quite ok. I have never walked out of a salon covered in hair & with such an embarasing dry-off. I wll be spending my $50 elsewhere next time.
