Nice decor, but........... – I made reservations for part of 10 at Zocalo?s, management stressed for me to be prompt or they would charge me fifty dollars on my credit card that they insisted I give over the phone at the time I made the reservations. Well??. I was on time and they made my party and I wait twenty minutes for our table. It took forever for our server to attend to us, they took the longest time to bring our drinks and food, not once did they ask us if we wanted more drinks. After making us wait so long for our table, food, drinks they emphasized that we needed to be out of the dinning area by ten thirty so they can prepare for the night club. The food was over priced for the amount of portion. As people inquire about Zocalo?s I would not recommend it at all.

Great find – I used to visit the previous restaurant in this location, Chilpancingo, and loved it. Went to Zocalo with a group and found it to be EVEN BETTER. The small plates are perfect for sharing, they are authentic flavors presented in a more upclass setting without being pretentious. The mini tortillas were a surprise as well. So good I'm guessing they're made in house. Ther service was friendly and explained dishes without being condescending. Best of all - the pineapple mojitos. Seriously - if you go, have one (or two!)

Yummy! – I recently hosted an event here for AidsCares called Dining out for Life. Food was fantastic, drinks were even better. The prices are just right and the service was great too. . . . .Definitely worth a try - even if you don't live in the neighborhood!!

Best Tequila Bar – A friend and I visited this new tapas bar during a recent trip to Chicago. I heard about the restaurant online. What attracted me to the bar was it's Tequila Collection. We visited Zocalo on a Friday night around 11:00 pm. We sat in the cocktail lounge area since the dining room was empty - which was rare for Chicago. One of the partners shared some great Tequilas with us and the food was good but not typical. It was a little too nouveau and some dishes just lacked the good Mexican flavor. I think they try to anglicize it or make it too nouveau which can be tricky with Mexican Cuisine. I enjoyed my experience there and would go back but I reccomend staying true to your roots instead of making it Nouveau Mexican. Service is Awesome!!

Must Try! – My boyfriend and I visited this new and definitely notable tapas bar during a recent weekend trip to Chicago. I heard about the restaurant online here at Citysearch and we decided to give it a shot. We visited Zocalo on a Friday night around 9:00 pm. We preferred to sit at the long, sleek bar over the dining room - but either area had available seating - which was rare for Chicago. The service was fantastic - the waiter was knowledgeable and extremely personable. The food was so good we could have ordered everything on the menu! The food and service was so great, we went back again two nights later. I'd definitely recommend this hip new restaurant to anyone looking for something new, a great atmosphere and friendly service! We'll be back.

Premium tequila and Mexican small plates replace fiesta kitsch in the former Chilpancingo space. – Housed in a re-purposed warehouse space behind the Ohio Street on-ramp, this nuevo Mexican cantina attracts a stylish River North crowd to its long tequila bar and dining room done up in rustic wood and colorful local art. The menu is a small plates format featuring familiar Mexican ingredients in unfamiliar preparations; guacamole comes in a flight, an al pastor preparation is deconstructed and queso fundido is flamed tableside a la saganaki.
