I love their appetizers because they are so tasty and diverse. I like the fact that the people that work here are great people and very polite too.
I eat at Chappy's at least once a week and I love it. The service is always excellent and Chappy goes from table to table making sure everything is just right. If you need something more vegetarian or even gluten free they can make it happen. I have a friend who spends alot of time in New Orleans and she says the gumbo is as good as it gets.
I have been to numerous restaurants in the Middle Tennessee region but this one in out of this world. The food gives you that New Orleans taste but here in Nashville. It is very elegant and you will definitely get in good with the ladies if you bring them here, as long as they are not picky eaters and can truly appreciate gormet food. This is top notch!! Wouldn't think twice about telling a friend.
My wife and I had decided to go to Chappys for my birthday on Sat night. The fresh baked bread was nice, so was the 4 butters, regular, strawberry, garlic, and alligator. The Fried Green Tomato appetizer was excellent. My Mardi Gras Lambchops were great, and my wifes Blackened Redfish was awesome both came with a salad. The Bread Pudding was nice though a little cinnamony. My wife had a glass of wine, I had tea. And a cup of coffe with dessert. All for $70 before tip. There was also a nice Jazz band playing. My wife and I are still pretty young and if this was a normal dinner and a movie Saturday night probably would have just went to one of the Chains that Nashville has. There would have been no dessert, no wine, and no coffe. Which even at some generic chain would have cost the same as at Chappy's anyway. If we didnt have any of those at Chappy's our meal would have been about $56. At any of the Chains we usually spend about $40 for an apetizer, 2 entrees, one salad added on, and a couple of teas.So its only about $16 more to have a great meal at Chappys vs some Generic Chain Restaurant. And at Chappy's the food is fresh, and well prepared. The staff did a good job, we had reservations, showed up a little late, but quickly seated. They werent excellent, but werent bad either. The restaurant is still new and Nashville isnt exactly known for having the type of restaurants where wait staff learn these skills.
And being from N.O. myself no Chappy's dosent have a perfect N.O. ambience but then neither do places like the Orlando Pat O's at Universal Studio which is almost an exact copy of the original. Thats just whats special about N.O. and that cant be copied.
We didnt know this before but theres a few private rooms. Some large. Some looked to hold between 4-6 people. Could be perfect for a couple, or a small group of family or friends.
I'm puzzled by the negative reviews as I went to Chappy's with a group and was met with excellent service, terrific food, and an atmosphere unrivaled in the Nashville area. The food--from appetizer to salad to entree to dessert--was amazing. I will definitely return. Reservations are probably a good idea, and the private alcoves are GREAT for a small group.
This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants. Great service and delicious food that always keeps me coming back again! I've been here with friends and family and recommend this place to anyone!
Friendly honest people. Listened to our needs. Offered several options. No pressure. it was a very satisfying experience.
Had a repeat pleasure by ordering the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and also ordered the shrimp remoulade appetizer which was tasty We shared the seafood platter which had a generous portion of several types of seafood; very tasty with the fried oysters and scallops being the best.
Bad experience – Below is the exact email that I sent directly to Chappy's. I expected an email in return apologizing or something, but nothing.
I just wanted to make you aware of our first experience at Chappy's. My husband and I have been trying to find the time to try it for a couple of years now. We made reservations for Saturday, February 11th for our Valentine's dinner. When we arrived at the hostess podium, I thought the atmosphere was pretty cool and was looking forward to tasting several different dishes. Susan greeted us and seemed nice to us because we had reservations, BUT there was a couple that obviously didn't have reservations and wanted to sit at the bar and have drinks and appetizers only. The bar was completely empty and Susan told them they were not allowed to sit and have appetizers only at the bar on a busy night and sent them out the door. Needless to say, they were not happy. We decided to sit at the bar while waiting on our table and as we sat down a server was standing at the bar waiting on her drinks and her and the bartender (older man balding with brown hair) sat and argued. The server told him that he had a bad attitude and he needed to stop because his attitude would affect the amount of tip he received from her. The older bartender with white hair was very busy and extremely nice. Susan came to take us to our table where we sat beside the window where it was very cold. When it is 20 degrees outside, sitting next to the window is not going to be the best place to sit and there were other empty tables throughout the restaurant. The best part of our entire experience was our server, Michael. He was pleasant and knowledgable about the menu. We had the crab cakes as an appetizer which were probably the best part of our meal. My husband ordered the Barbequed Spiced Shrimp which was very dry and had very little flavor. I ordered the steak filet which was tender, but didn't really a taste any different than I could have gotten at a Logan's. The stuffed potato was like eating a baked potato plain. Basically, I feel we spent over $100 for a meal that we could have had at any average restaurant for $30-$40. There was also a table next to us where people were seated who got up and left before ordering because it was so cold next to the window. I wanted you to know what type of experience we had and how disappointed we were in our visit. I really don't see us visiting again anytime soon if ever.
