Love this place – I pop in this place once every few weeks to trim my mop. I don't have a regular barber here so it's not the same person every time, but am never disappointed.
Cheap and Consistent – Been to 3 different barbers at this location and have been completely satisfied with the results. You may have to wait due to the popularity, but the price is right.
Overrated barber shop- very mediocre if that – The haircut was fine. However, the barber inadvertently cut my neck toward the end of the haircut when shaving my neck area, which caused a scratch with slight bleeding. This is the first time in my whole life this occurred.
Nice, but Igor's gone... – I moved to NYC from LA about 6 months ago and used these reviews to find a great barber. Well I found Igor at Neighborhood Barber, but he left to open a shop of his own. I was bummed. But then I found out he opened up his own place on 1st and 1st (20 1st Ave to be exact), right across the street from my place. How sweet is that? My favorite barber 11 blocks closer to my apartment. Who could ask for more?
igors' new digs – igor has moved to 20 first avenue(between 1st and 2nd street). just visited today and received his signature perfect buzz. the name of his new place is GL Barber Shop. $2 cheaper but worth much much more!
Igor Moved – I had my cuts at this place for the last 4 years, and would wait to see Igor...he was the best. The other barbers are OK, but Igor really pays attention to detail. He moved to GL Barber at 1st Avenue between 1st & 2nd Street. NB wouldn't give me his new address, but I found him. Same guy, same cuts, $2 cheaper.
Best Cut in the City – Ben at Neighborhood Barber has been cutting my and my son's hair for 5 years and as long as we're both alive, its going to stay that way. Every haircut I and my son have received has been perfect. And at $14, its the best bargain in the city.
Igor is a genius – I used to pay $38 every other week to get coiffed at Hoshi Coupe in the EV, but then I got sick of the super-styled, razor-cut thing. I craved a classic, cleaner Thom Brown look. I have to say that the $14 I now drop down at Neighborhood Barbers is probably the best money I've ever spent at a hair cutting establishment. Igor is a true genius. Completely concientious, meticulous and able to do a fade like nobody's elses business, I feel good giving him a $20 bill and telling him to keep the change.
Welcome to the Neighborhood – I am not sure I really want to review this place because it may become harder to get into; but I love this place that much! Eric is fantastic and his barbershop is the best secret in the East Village. Do not go here if you want some special hairstyle or are in need of heartfelt conversation. This is a standard barbershop that gives great service and even better haircuts. It will keep me coming back.
Retro East Village barbershop attends to only a few guys at a time. – Complete with a spinning barber pole and a bench outside to seat customer overflow, this casual downtown spot offers a true neighborhood vibe. Forgoing the fancier grooming shops, men are attracted to this narrow shop's classic look, with headshots framing just four swivel chairs and one faux-leather bench. Still, they'll find some upscale perks: Soothing cucumber creams during hot shaves and facials, as well as neck massages with vibrating gloves.
