Gazillionaire's is just bad – I felt totally riped off. I saw Absinthe and was impressed. Got tickets for G and went and paid the crazy $11 a glass for wine-$3 more then a mixed drink. This would have been fine if the show was funny. You can only hear some fool say (words that are censored by Citysearch) and lesbian so many times before you get board. These were the only words he could use. They tried to be cutting edge and funny as hate filled people. But the show was only homophobic, not funny. Even 4 drinks couldn't make the show funny. I guess it is for a more conservative hateful crowd. If you want to be cutting and edgy they be equal with it. Yes, they made fun of races with very guarded words. But it was field day for anyone gay. No, anyone who wasn't that were made the butt of jokes.

good dirty fun! – We went to the midnight show of Absinthe. The whole experience was wonderful. right on the water over looking the bridges. there are a few bars and a busy dance floor with an awesome DJ spinning Brazilian jazz that but the music changes nightly. there is an area to sit and order food, and an area on the perimeter to sit by the water under the brooklyn bridge, either on a chair or a hammock!! drinks are plentiful, and they serve Absinthe the real deal! the show was so much fun and the acrobats were sooo hot!!!! this was a sensual adult circus! the hosts were hysterical. there is a full bar in the tent. show was about an hour and half. every seat is a good seat but if you sit in the front you just may be a part of the show. A must see!!!!

Great show, but LAME useless ticket pricing and uninformed/apathetic staff – Tickets came in different prices

paid $79 instead of $59 expecting to get a better seat, but it is general seating

the additional $20 was for them, no VIP seating, no head of line waiting or any PERK

in fact, when we asked several people on the staff what the difference between $79 and 59 ticket was, they did not know.

Meanwhile the space was filling up and we were in back row..

my friend demanded an explanation from the Manager, and they did not have any answer either

MGR: "what can we do for you?"

US: "um give us the $20 back on each ticket"

they offered us free drinks, and then actually tried to get us front row seats -which they did. and the performances were amazing, hot guys hot girls surreal stunts, wont give any surprises away, but fruit was used interactively.. oh my

amazing performers, tight intimate space-you don?t HAVE to be front row to get a good view,

in fact, pay the lowest price ticket and just get there early

it is certainly worth it., front row or not

just don?t freaking pay the higher ticket price..

DANGER!!!!!! – I am extremely troubled by my experience at speigelworld last night. I have seen desir and it was ok. Better than the show was the sliders. I decided to come back last night to have sliders and a drink. After eating and drinking, i left to grab a pack of cigarettes. when i tried to re-enter the main area, a Large Bald man stopped me and told me he was the manager, and asked for my id. I showed him my new york state id, i am not a minor, and he took it. Held on to it. Grabben the back of my neck, arm and back (at various times) and led me through the entire area to look for my friend, who is 22. He accused me of having a fake id. He took out a badge that resembled that of DEA. im not sure if it was real or not. He became very hostile yelling at me, and violating my personal space, all while keeping my id, and his hands on me. I did not break any laws or do anything wrong. The only way i got my id back, and was able to be allowed to leave, was once i pulled out my phone and told him i was calling the police. This is a serious matter, and i feel extremely violated. Please boycott this show at all costs. Also, if you work at the show, please notify your boss of this dangerous employee. I am a native new yorker, and i have never been abused like this in my great home-town.

Amazing show – Awesome! Saw Absinthe and Desir. Absinthe totally in your face, and Desir is like nothing I have ever seen before, its truly beautiful. And what gorgeous bodies! And they even have this spectacular cat, its amazing.

We had drinks in the very cool VIP bar (seemed okay to get in to), and ordered some food which was pretty good.

But this place has to be the most spectacular location in New York.

BOYCOTT SPIEGELWORLD UNTIL THEY STOP USING A LIVE CAT!! – This was my third year of being an enthusiastic fan of Spiegelworld shows until I attended Desir and was greatly disappointed to see a live cat used in the show. Half-way into the performance we looked up to the ceiling see a live cat being unlocked from a box and sent onto a tightrope going across the theatre. The cat walked cautiously to the middle of the rope then stopped and looked down fearfully. He/she sat there, unsure of what to do, while the next act carried on and the performers went on as if nothing was wrong. After 5 minutes (we timed it) the cat returned to the box. Everyone was watching this cat, terrified that he/she would fall, it was horrible. The rest of the show was ruined, we were too upset. Why in the world do they need to subject a cat to the noise (I love the music but it is loud) and danger, and it detracts from the talented actors. Until the cat is out of this show, Spiegelworld has lost a fan and I will do my best to let others know.

This isn't your father's circus: Burlesque shows in an art deco tent at South Street Seaport. – In Short
This internationally traveling event tent--a mirrored, art deco den that was born in Belgium--sets up shop in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge every summer and sticks around through mid-fall. The main event is Absinthe, a sumptuous burlesque performance that runs at 8pm every night but Monday (with an extra performance at 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights). Other shows include La Vie (created by alums of Cirque de Soleil), Desir, and the Gazillionaire's Late Nite Lounge.

Not so great customer service – Over the weekend I attended an event held in the ?SpiegelWorld? Beer Garden. While the atmosphere was amazing I must say that the service was insanely horrible!!!! Our waitress was not nice at all and was hardly around and when she was she did not seem to be happy with having to serve us. While we did receive a new server for a bit who was friendlier and much better at her job, she was only around for a short time. At 11 pm we moved the party to another bar near by where the staff was friendly and the food was actually good. For a night that should have been relaxing and fun our ?Green Room? server made it more of a hellish sideshow.

Great Show! HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! – While visiting Spiegel World to see Absinthe (which by the way was a fantastic show!!!!) I noticed that the beer garden had several cabanas looking out on the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge, a beautiful location and the prime spot to have my upcoming birthday party. I called several weeks before the party and made the arrangements to reserve two cabanas (between 25 and 30 people would be attending the party-- not too big but too many people for one cabana). Four days before the party I went down to the beer garden and met with one of the servers, explained that I wanted to order food ahead of time because I didn't want my guest to have to worry about it and I wanted to pick up the tab. Everything was arranged for as to make the party run smoothly for both me and the Spiegel World staff.

When I arrived for the party last Friday everything fell apart. I was given a hard time about receiving both cabanas our server was horrible (I assume because she had to work though it was her husbands birthday as SHE ANNOUNCED right away) she very rarely stopped in to take drink orders though we were told we could not order from the bar. I gave her a food order early on that she completely botched... and she charged us for everything ordered though not everything was delivered!!!! The garden was far from crowded yet we rarely saw our server. No one cleared the empty dishes or glasses until asked and one of my GUESTS eventually approached the floor manager to ask for a new server and for a little bit of help.

I spent most of my night trying to get service rather then enjoying my friends and family who flew in from all over the place for this significant date. For the number of people I had there and for the amount of money I spent there was no need for us to be treated so rudely? for anyone looking to enjoy there night I would suggestion seeing Absinthe and then going to The Paris across the street for food and drinks...

WOW, Great Setting, Great Show, Don't Miss! – Went to see Absinthe down at the SpiegelTent on a beautiful night last week. Absinthe is a small one-ring circus/oddity act that I found alot of fun and with very, very unique performances. The tent itself is also an interesting setting and enhances the atmosphere of the show. Two suggestions when seeing the show is to get in line early to get a seat close to the stage and to leave time after to attend the adjacent beer garden overlooking the river and the Brooklyn Bridge. In fact the Beer Garden is open to the public and worthwhile going to on it's own.
