Just like a casino, it's set up for the house to win – As a cautionary tale, I would say if you choose to go, be very careful. Don't say you can't get sucked in, and don't think that you can go in there and spend lightly. That's what I used to think. "I just won't spend tons of money on the dancers", I USED to say. Well, that all changed. They can be VERY persuasive.

Anyway, that's the cautionary tale. here's the review. The facility is awesome. I really liked the two levels. Nicest adult entertainment club Birmingham has ever had. The food is good. It used to be a lot better, but the quality has declined in the last few years. But, it's still pretty good. The parking lot is very safe. No worries whatsoever on that end. For the first couple of years, the service was outstanding. But, as time has gone on, the service has gone to crap. If you can even find a waitress, they are so forgetful and slow it will drive you insane. There toward the end, I once sat for nearly 2 hours without a drink. And I was one of their regulars. Go figure. Even the bartenders act like they don't want to be there. They too have gotten very slow and forgetful.

And of course, the girls are greedy beyond anything you can imagine. One private dance never means one private dance. They keep going when the song ends and swear you requested more than one dance. Or, they lie and say "three song minimum". There is no "minimum" on dances. But, they get away with it because, hey, life is good on 309 28th Street North, so don't rock the boat! Wink Wink! And, be EXTREMELY careful when venturing in to the VIP rooms. It's not just the girl you must pay. Everybody gets their cut. The house, the waitress, the bartender. It's all set up with them in mind. And they all got each other's backs. A manager will side with a dancer over a customer any day. Yeah, one day the house of cards known as the Furnace will crumble. But, until then, enter at your own risk.

Not what it wants to be... – This is from a Saturday night:

As stated in an earlier review, you will think you have taken a wrong left turn somewhere driving to this place. You cannot see the name of the club from the road, only a two-story building with lights on the side, away from the road.

Inside, the club is very beautiful. It is clearly trying to cater to a more upscale clientel. There are two stories, and the main stage is enormous.

The girls range from a 1-8. There was one very scary looking dancer there, and one very pretty dancer, but for the most part, they range from a 4-7. Not very pretty, but not too bad. I would guess that the dancers are about 80% white, 15% black, and I saw one Asian girl. The dancer's bodies ranged from very, very thin to very, very large. I did see some impressive poll tricks and showings of flexibility.

It was completely dead from 7:00P to 11:30P. It started to pick up after that. I left at midnight. The crowd was mostly under 30.

For girls interested in working there (I was there to audition):

You have to have a dancer's license & a small-business license to work there- about $350 for both.

I decided not to work there because after nearly five hours of waiting for the owner to shop up - who was always going to be there in just another 20 minutes- I left. Several other dancers expressed to me that this was very normal business. They had each waited 6, even 8 hours for the owner to shop up. One of them said they thought they were being tested as to how bad they wanted the job. That's fine if you need the job- if you have to work at this particular club. However, I consider myself a very pretty girl, and I could get hired at any number of clubs. I didn't want to work somewhere that was going to treat me that way. I can only imagine that if that's there typical hiring process, the prettiest girls are going to work at their competition- Sammy's.

There are definitely better. – I wanted to let you guys know a few things, since there have been some changes since the last review was posted several months back. The Furnace (downtown) remains superior in terms of venue and quantity of services offered. With a two-story lavish interior, complete with two bars, leather seating and a gourmet menu, the facility is the best in town. However, according to several sources including myself, the staff has for whatever reason become extremely hard to deal with. It is increasingly difficult to get a private dance and/or drinks from the bar at a reasonable pace. It's like you almost have to beg for service and it is obvious that these new employees do not enjoy their work. (This is not how these establishments are supposed to run.) For this and other reasons, the best girls from the Furnace have all migrated to Sammy's (off of W Valley Ave on the southside). So for you guys who are looking for a warm, easy-going atmosphere with fast and courteous service, go to Sammy's or the Volcano (Ensley). Good luck and have fun!

Nice Design – When you arrive at the building, you get the feeling you are going into a compound surrounded by a destruction zone. Everything around it is run down and it is surrounded a tall fence. After you get pass the outside, you will be amazed by the inside. It is a beautiful building with rich dark wood tables and trim. It really feels as though you are in a wealthy British Gentlemen's Club. The women entertainers tend to be geared for an older businessmen audience. They were exotic and sophisticated but looked and act liked soon to be mistresses of the wealthy.

Super hot as the name implies! – Well, there is only one way to find out about the furnace. Go there and you will not want to leave.
