Don't Bother, too expensive and they don't even open on time – HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I am a faithful H.E.B customer but when I could not get a cutom design Barbie themed cake I went to The Cake Shop. I told the manager what I was looking for and that I needed it on Sunday. They informed me they open from 10-5pm on Sundays, no problem I said I would be there at 10 am. I showed up at ten but they didn't. They didn't show up until about 1230 and by that time I had already purchased a different cake from HEB! Go figure. They didn't want to return my money, offered to deliver my cake but honestly at that point the party had started and I already had a cake so what was I going to do with another one? They are very expensive and for the price I paid for their cake I expect nothing less than outstanding customer service whiche they do not. My advice is to stick with what you know and NEVER go to this place.
Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness in bringing the delicious cake for our office. It looked so good in the shape of our logo that we almost didn’t want to cut it (but we did). It was delicious and was a hit with all of us! Once it was cut, it didn't stay around long. Thank you again!
I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed Carlos' birthday cake! It was so delicious, but we almost hated to cut into it because you did such a wonderful job with the parachute! My husband really loved the skydive (he was not scared at all!). Thanks again for the wonderful cake!

DONT EVER COME HERE FOR BUSINESS!!!!! – I recently purchased my cake here & it came out NOTHING like how it was suppose to. The cake is usually the focal point of the party however when it looks NASTY & your embarrassed to even put it out its NOT a happy experience. Especially when you pay in excess of $47 & you get the most HORRIBLE customer service you have EVER seen from the Owner!
DONT EVER GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE DISAPPOINTED.
Terrible cake, even worse customer service – My experience was uncannily similar to the one described in NikiJohnson's review. I too was sold a cake that was stale and dry. Like Niki's, mine also fell apart and crumbled when touched. In addition, the icing on mine peeled off in places. The flavor was non-existent, like I was eating cardboard. Easily the worst cake I've ever had. Two other guinea pigs tried the cake and felt the same way. We had to throw our pieces away. The cake was so bad I pulled it and refused to serve it to the rest of the guests.
I called immediately after the party to complain. The owner/manager asked me to bring the cake in so he could look it over, and I complied with this. He looked at it in the back room out of my presence and came out afterward to tell me nothing was wrong with the cake. He even said that the style of cake I had was supposed to be that dry (it's not). Then he tried to shift blame by suggesting the dryness was my fault for serving the cake too soon after removing it from the refrigerator. He seemed to be intentionally ducking and dodging to avoid any sort of responsibility for the cake they sold me. I told him I wanted my $55 back and he flat refused. He offered to trade out the bad cake for another cake but since the party was over this was not meaningful compensation.
He could have easily made this right and created good will if he had handled the situation with any semblance of good customer service. However, he chose not to do that and has lost a customer. After reading other reviews I see this happens a lot with his shop. Eventually they will exhaust their clientele with this combination of shoddy product and customer service.
HORRIBLE CAKE!!!!!!! – IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR, I ORDERED A BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR MY EMPLOYER. IT WAS SO DRY AND STALE, IT FELL APART WHEN TOUCHED WITH A FORK. THINKING THAT WAS JUST A FLUKE, I ORDERED A CAKE FOR MY DAUGHTER'S BIRTHDAY SEVERAL MONTHS LATER. IT WAS A $65.00 WASTE. IT WAS BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED BUT AGAIN, STALE AND DRY. NONE OF MY GUESTS EVEN FINISHED A PIECE. I WAS SO EMBARASSED. I ENDED UP THROWING THE CAKE IN THE TRASH. $65 WAS WAY TOO MUCH FOR A SINGLE LAYER SHEETCAKE THAT WAS NOT EVEN EDIBLE. I COMPLAINED TO THE OWNER AND HE SAID HE COULD OFFER ME 10% OFF OF MY NEXT ORDER. THERE WILL NOT BE A NEXT ORDER. THEIR CAKES ARE AWFUL AND SO IS THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
