So disappointed! – My friends and I are Ms. B's regulars for the great food, cocktails, and ambiance. Last night a huge group of our friends celebrated two birthdays there and it was a complete disaster. Keep in mind that we did call a day ahead of time and make reservations for our large party. Let's start with the good points: those of us that actually got our food really enjoyed it. Now for the bad. I should preface this by saying that they were understaffed. First of all, the amazing cocktail list we all loved is now gone. Apparently their bartender left and instead of getting another competent bartender, they just decided to eliminate the cocktail menu entirely. When our food came out, only one side of the table got food. Everyone on the opposite side of the table got their food about 45 minutes later. They dropped a tray with four plates on it and those people got their food more than an hour after the first group did. The worst part about it was that we actually had to ask to get any meals comped at all! It would have been a given at any other restaurant in this situation to at least remove the four meals they dropped off of the bill. The owner was there and we asked to speak with her but she would not come over to our table and forced the poor waiter to deal with the problems caused essentially by the fact that her restaurant was way understaffed. The whole ordeal was a complete disaster and we will never eat there again despite the food still being really good.

Amazing food - Disgusting service – To be fair I will start with all the good points:

I went to Ms. B's (E 11th St) for Mother's Day with my family. Walking in, the hostess was very welcoming and we were seated immediatley. They had a jazz singer at the front of the restaurant who was perfect for the atmosphere; he sang a lot of old love songs - like Frank Sinatra stuff, which my mother and sisters love - and it was just background music to listen to as I enjoyed the time with my family. The food was outstanding; the flavors, and the colors were wonderful. They had a special Mom's Day menu and after finishing our meal (sharing bites with each other) I was definitley interested in returning for their normal menu. (Their coffee is really great too, that is always important to me.) Then as we left, all us mothers were given a rose to take home - such a sweet thought as something a little extra special!

Now the rest of the story:

After being seated at our table, we waited, and waited, and waited, and waited for any acknowledge for the waitstaff. It seemed like such a long time before they even brought us our drinks, and by the time we got our food we had waited ONE HOUR (I know because we had made a reservation and it was over an hour later). After finishing our meal we waited for the check. Again, this took forever! We eventually had to flag down another employee to get our waiter to even come to our table; it was past my nephews nap time and we couldn't stand waiting anymore. It is really tough to decide whether or not the great food is great enough for such horrible service!!!!!!!

Worst service in Austin – I went to this eatery on a Friday night, and although it was quite busy, I was appalled at the service. We ordered the cajun dinner sampler for two, and found that everything was fried. That I could live with, but after sitting under the heat lamp for a LONG time, everything became tough and almost inedible. The plate was almost too hot to touch. I have worked in the service industry for years, and know what a hot plate means. I ordered a drink, and never received it. We waited a long, long time for the food, the check, and even water. We ended up bussing our own table because on the rare occasion that the waitress stopped by the table, she did not remove our plates. I might give this place another chance, because it seems promising, but if that doesn't work out, will find my creole elsewhere.

Foodies and New Orleans ex-pats clamor to get into second location of this popular local Creole favorite. – In Short
The Southern hospitality and menu are decidedly more upscale than the simple decor. The quaint room draws a steady flow of regulars who come for consistently good meals in a relaxed atmosphere. Bright artwork evokes a taste of the New Orleans jazz scene. A menu of crab cakes, sweet potatoes, bread pudding and other standard Cajun-Creole offerings is accented by daily specials so fresh that the server warns that it will take some prep time.
