DON'T EVER CALL THEM...RIP OFF!!
I wish I would have read Jeremy A's post before I called Famous Appliance!! Infamous is more close to what happened to us. I called them three weeks ago about our washer that was not working and they were great to get out the same day. We were then told that the washer needed a part (a valve of some sort), that it would take 3-5 business days to come in, and that we needed to pay them upfront for parts and labor for them to do the work. Not having much spare time I went ahead and paid the $250. Seven business days later I called to get an update on the part and was told it was in and they would have someone come out that day. The technician did make it out installed it in about 15 min and stated we were up and running.
Two loads of laundry later it quit!! I called back to complain and they sent a different tech out (I didn't want the same person) who told us he knew what the problem was. It was the motor and to fix it would be an additional $300 on top of what we had already spent!! If they had diagnosed it right in the first place the bill would have been $550!
He kept telling us he was here for our benefit and all he was trying to do was help, the customer is always right, and if we decided to not have them do the work I could call and request a refund since they had misdiagnosed it in the first place.
We decided to do some research and found a part from the manufacturer was $150 so I ordered one.
I then called the company and asked for a refund last one week ago and was told they typically don't refund the entire amount and that I would have to pay a restocking fee on the part they installed in the washer they said I needed. Now I am getting bugged (if you couldn't already tell).
I was also told during that conversation that the technician was off the next day (Wednesday) and the dispatcher was off the following day (Thursday) so the first opportunity they would have to discuss my refund would be Friday. 4:45 on Friday I call to find out what the status was and was told they were working on it and would get back with me on Monday.
Called at noon on Monday was told it was sitting on the dispatchers desk and I she would call back in a few minutes. 4:45 I called and asked to speak to a manager and the person answering the phone told me it was Monday and a very busy day for them but they were working on it.
DON'T EVER CALL THEM...RIP OFF!!
Do not use this company. They came out to fix our air conditioner that had stopped the night before. Their tech spend several hours at my house doing who knows what just to tell us that we needed to change 3 parts on the air conditioner and that he did not have those parts and would have to return the next day. The total bill was going to be about $900. After a long hot night of having to have my family sleep in my basement to keep cool, I had another company come and give me a second opinion. Their tech had my air conditioner running in 15 minutes without changing any of the parts that Famous Appliance said I needed to buy. When I called to cancel Famous Appliance's services I was told by their tech that he was still waiting for the parts for my air conditioner. I told him not to come as none of those parts needed to be changed and my air conditioner had been fixed. Famous charged me the full $891.68 they had quoted for the repairs that I did not need. When I called and asked them to refund those funds as they had not performed any services (and had tried to defraud me out of about $900) they refused to refund the full amount stating that their policy was to charge a 25% restocking fee for the parts for my air conditioner. This despite the fact that they didn't have those parts when they arrived at my home or when I called to cancel my visit. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
I recommend you run away from this company. I called with washer issues. I told them what i thought the issue was. Three repairs later they still hadn't repaired the machine. It ended up the issue was exactly what I told them! They added two other parts my machine didn't need at prices 2-3x what it should have been! RIP OFF stay AWAY!
I would not recommend this company! They are WAY over priced. They charged me $150 for a part that i could have got for $35. You will pay double for this company.
They were very helpful in diagnosing the problem with our double oven, and then fixed it the same day! It was a relief to get the oven taken care of before Thanksgiving.
Technician knowledgeable about all appliances and proactive in making recommendations on how to keep appliances functioning long term. Arrived on time and did all that I asked to have done. I have used this company over the years and have always been happy with their service.
Overpriced Parts. We received fast and friendly service but they were going to charge me $366 to fix a dishwasher we bought for $345 two years ago. The part alone was $298. When I did some research online while waiting for the part I realized I could get the part for $100. I called them back and told them not to bother sending the tech back. I paid the $40 diagnostic fee over the phone. Ordered the part online and installed it myself two days later.
We had a problem with our washer. Steve was very honest in recommending only what needed to be fixed. He was very friendly and patient. I do recommend Famous Appliance Service if you have problems with your home appliances.
Famouse appliance – They were awesome. My freezer broke down they were able to come out and fix it that day. With me being a single mom that was awesome.
