great quality sushi and asian food in New York – As a regular customer of Haiku restaurant, I disagree with the previous reviewer and feel sorry that their experience weren't the best. And might have been the rare case. I eat out a lot, in the city or westchester, mostly Japanese and Pan-Asian restauants. The food quality and quantity of Haiku is truly one of the best! A big portion of items from the menu are really good. The Malaysia Red Curry happens to be one of my favor because it's delicate taste. The coconut milk doesn't overpower the spice, ingredients are fresh and cooked just right. The flavor is clean and cohesive. Sushi is also very good. Quality sashimi and generous quantity. You will find a good selection of chef's special rolls that are very creative and actually worked! I also recommend Vietnamese salad. A dish so pure and simple, no crazy sauce only fresh mango, jicama, kiwi, topped with cellophane noodle and crushed peanuts. You can't not miss it! The only complain from me will be the long waitting. This place is always crowded.
Nice ambiance, tastes good going down, rough coming back up – There aren't a glut of asian restaurants or somewhat tastefully decorated restaurants in Westchester, so I thought this place couldn't miss. The red vegetarian curry tasted fine going down. It wasn't anything special, but it was better than would be expected for a restaurant in the burbs. However, about 4 hours later, and 2 hours after that, and another 2 hours after that, I had the opportunity to see how poorly I chew my food. The people at dinner who ordered the same dish also complained about not feeling well but weren't woken up in the middle of the night to hurl it out. The 102 fever that followed the next day was no picnic either. I would strongly discourage anyone from eating there, no matter how innocuous it looks.
Nice decor, ok food – On a recent visit to Bronxville I tried this Pan Asian restaurant. The atmosphere was nice, very busy at lunchtime, but comfortable. I ordered a Malaysian curry dish with chicken. The presentation was very nice, square plates and a decent portion size. The food looked quite good, but I found the taste to be surprisingly bland. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good either, not something I would order again.
For such a nice looking, busy restaurant I expected the food to be far better, but the options for Asian food in Bronxville are quite limited, possibly a reason why this spot was so busy.
