Will never call Mr. Rooter again.. called with a 2nd floor bathroom leak down to the room below.. a trickle leak at the molding with a small stream down the 1st floor wall. .. Mr..Rooter did a scope down the toilet opening and told us our stack was cracked and needed to be replaced or lined down to the basement. Quoted $3800 for lined stack and $5400 for replacement!! We must have looked like suckers because no way we would commit to that without a 2nd or 3rd opinion.
Insurance adjuster came the next day and looked puzzled.. he said there should be more water damage if the stack was the cause.. got second opinion.. new plumber said right away that this was a horizontal leak.. not a vertical leak... but opened walls to confirm his diagnosis. He confirmed that problem was the sink pipe to the stack.. he reattached the toilet and capped the broken pipe until he could fix it the next day.. toilet worked fine with no leaking.. .. he came back the next day to attach the sink pipe to the stack.. the old attachment was hard to separate from the stack,, so it did require cutting a small area of cast iron stack and replacing it ,but went well.. whole thing cost $850 plus tax..
I had a valve leak a few hours before having to go out of town, and Eugene was able to find the parts for my water meter and fix it the same day, allowing me not to have to move my travel arrangements. I sincerely appreciate his going the extra mile (literally, since he had to drive about 40 miles to pick up the part) to resolve my problem quickly.
Troy Sprague cabled the roots out of our sewer line. He and his assistant are pros. They even put booties over their shoes with they entered our house to check the plumbing! We appreciate this thoughtfulness. When they left my wife exclaimed, “They’re real gentleman.” Thank you.
Never Again! – Mr. Rooter arrived about an hour after they said someone was on their way. It started with him yelling my name across my house repeatedly to ask me if I had septic or sewer. He told me that my system was built incorrectly, and that he would need to take my toilet off and charge me more money to do so! I have since learned that that was not true! Ninety minutes later I had nothing fixed and a guy who was rude and disrespectful in my home who took an incredibly long time to "clean up" his tools (all two of them) while talking on his cell phone! Never again!
