Irish Gem in the Heart of Albuquerque – Hands down, the best Irish pub/ restaurant in New Mexico, Two fools creates a surprisingly genuine Irish feel, right here in Albuquerque. They know how to pour a pint correctly and offer a very good selection of Irish whiskeys. Food is fresh and well prepared, with a nod to traditional, higher quality ingredients. Portions are healthy, and servers were helpful with recommendations. The fish & chips is legendary, as is the apple cole slaw. It's a neat dark wood, rich atmosphere. Sunday brush is worth checking out.
As offered by the earlier reviewer, it might not be the best place if you're looking for cheap beer, a few shots, and greasy bar food. Recommended for those looking for something a little more unique....
Putting the "F" in Fake Irish Pub – Two Fools is a supposed Irish Pub in the heart of Nob Hill. Its obvious this place was set up from a "Irish Pub In-A-Box" kit or leftover parts from a low budget Irish movie set in a city that has no real Irish bars to compare it to. They are well known for their Fish and Chips as well they should be, its easily the best in town. Unfortunately the price has more than doubled, so now a two piece meal cost around $15. Two Fools also does not serve shots of any kind. If you ask nicely they might serve you a glass of whisky but will watch you to make sure youre not drinking it too quickly. Dont know of any other Irish bars in this country that do that. Also, if you are having too good of a time, like laughing aloud or being boistorous they will cut you off and kick you out. Even if youve only had 1 beer. On Saint Patricks Day they stamp your hand each time you order a drink and after your 3th stamp you are automatically cut off. They do not encourage lingering. Drink your beer and get out seemed to be the attitude
If you think that $4 for a domestic draft beer is a good special then perhaps you will enjoy Two Fools. If you want to have some drinks at a real bar then walk down a couple doors to Monte Vista Fire Station, where they treat you like an adult
