I have had two issues with the sales/service department at Audi of Albuquerque. The first is very similar to Karen818's issue. In 2011 I purchased a 2009 A 5, where the original owners had bought a service plan that apparently transferred to me as the new owner. I was also encouraged to purchase an extended used car warranty, which was made out to be one of the best available on the market. But, when I tried to get specifics from the finance manager and the sales person they were extremely vague and basically gave me the "Don't worry we'll take care of you speech". Long story short, I've had nothing but problems over disputes from things like how many miles I have to have between covered oil changes to replacing failing parts of the multimedia system and so on. The most recent issue is also an issue with oil changing but this time it has to due with resetting the service indicated reminder that appears and makes a sound every time I turn the car on and off. In this instance, due to an inability to coincide my schedule with the schedule of the service department, I changed my own oil (How dare I do such a thing). Unfortunately, the only way to reset the service indicator message is via a scan tool that connects to the car, which is only available through the dealer or other Audi certified shops. So I called the service department, explained the situation, and asked if I could come and have them reset this message and they refused stating that because they did not perform the service they would not reset the message in fear that if something was done incorrectly it could come back on them. So now I basically have two choices, either tune out the annoying bing from the service message for another 8 months or have them empty and change a perfectly good tank of oil just so they can certify that the job was done correctly. And, it just so conveniently happens that they will charge three times what it cost me to change the oil myself. Audi's are fantastic vehicles and I would not discourage anyone from purchasing one, honestly this car is the best vehicle I've ever owned, but these vehicles with so much technology in them are very dependent on service from the dealer and this obviously can be an issue with this particular service department.
I have been a customer for 6 years and really like their service department. I live in Santa Fe and they provide a loaner and pickup and dropoff service. Dave E. is always responsive and helpful.
Beware of deceptive warranties – I learned the hard way about warranties and I hope my experience will help future buyers by learning from my mistake. In November of 2004, I purchased a 2002 Audi TT from Premier Motorcars now known as Audi of Albuquerque. The original factory date of the car was February 2002 which meant that the car was still under factory warranty until Feb 2006. When I was finalizing the sale, the finance manager promoted the idea of an extended warranty. I am wary of extended warranties and had him explain to me in detail what it would and wouldn?t cover and exactly when it would start and when it would finish. He told me the warranty would kick in the day I bought the car and last for 6 years ending in Nov of 2010. The warranty itself was a typical legal document with lots of fine print, but I trusted that the finance mgr explained it truthfully.
The warranty they sold me, at a cost of a little over $2700, actually started from the factory date of the car ? Feb 2002 ? and went for 6 years from that date (i.e., Feb 2008). The finance mgr. deceived me by selling me a 6-year ?new car? warranty that lasted only 2 years past the factory warranty. Not many people would spend that kind of money on a 2 year warranty. I believe they knew this which is why they misled me.
I recently had to spend $855 to fix an AC problem and this is when I found out my warranty had expired. I called Audi of ABQ and left messages for both the general and finance mgrs. The general mgr never bothered to call me back. The finance mgr did call and basically said that he didn?t understand why I would buy a ?new car? warranty on a used car, but other than that it was really my problem and there was nothing he could do about it. No apology. No effort to find out why they sold me this type of warranty in the first place.
Mea culpa because I did not take the time to read through the entire warranty. However, I was deceived by this dealership and I warn you to be very careful when you deal with them.
