A terrible car experience – My 85-year-old mother bought a car through Mr. Orton, but within a month had to surrender her license due to age and poor health. Mr. Orton agreed to take the car back and sell it. She got the $2,500 price they agreed upon. But it took nearly FOUR WEEKS for Mr. Orton to get her the check. First, he told her the check had to clear. Next, as his business partner told me, the delay was because Mr. Orton had changed banks and the new bank was keeping checks longer before clearing them until they could establish a "relationship." Then, the delay was because Mr. Orton had the flu and couldn't get out of bed (or apparently press the buttons on a phone to call my mother and explain that to her). He finally dropped her check off today (2/17/12), but only after I called an attorney.
My mother just called me to tell me Mr. Orton delivered her check. As he was leaving her doorstep, he left a parting shot: "I will never do business with your daughter again! She is just, just, just..."
Just what? Looking out for the interests of an 85-year-old woman who simply wasn't a blip on Value Auto's radar? Yep. Call me guilty.
Let the buyer beware.
Complaint – I purchased a vehicle that Alan assured me several times did not have a branded title. I was weary to buy the vehicle since the title came from an insurance company. I took the title to DMV and sure enough, it has a branded title. I have called Alan several times to rectify this and he continues to ignore my calls. Pick up the phone Alan.
Amazingly Honest Car Sales – I have purchased three cars from Value Auto, and each has been an amazing experience. Alan is very honest, amazingly so. His knowledge of cars is extensive and very helpful. He insists on selling a car that meets your needs for an incredible price.
I call Alan anytime I need help with a car I bought from him and he bends over backwards to help. There is a reason all of his business comes from referrals.
Complaint – Warning: Please avoid this business to protect yourself from unnecessary hostility.
Business Owner Alan Orton is not open to any opportunities to support or improve his business through fair and equitable business practices, and he has no conscience about being uncivil with others in his community or hanging-up on potential customers or referrers of potential customers.
