decent food, horrid owner – Good italian, but will never go back simply because not going to give business to such horrible service
Going Downhill – The entrees, Raviolis and Veal Piccata, were good, but not excellent. The wine list was reasonable and we were able to find a good bottle for $30. The cocktails were a disappointment. A plain Beefeater gin served up with a 2/3 pour was $12 - extremely overpriced. We questioned the price with one of the owners; the waitress returned to say that no error was made. On the way out we complained to the same owner about the cost of a gin and said that next time we would skip cocktails and appetizers, the owner said we were overcharged and the price was adjusted to $10-- still insultingly high for a partial drink. Any quality restaurant in Reno serves a full-pour for $6-$9. We have been to this restaurant before and find that the food used to be better and and prices more reasonable.
The owner is a nasty piece of work – Tried to make a reservation, to go to the Pioneer Center for an 8:00pm show. The owner said how fast do you eat. I thought probably depends on how fast we would get served. Asked for a 7:00pm reservation, he laughed and said so do you want to eat. Hard to tell how long it takes to get served and out. It is hard to believe these people have stayed in business with this condecending attitude. Go to the Wild River, they are courteous and the food is great.
Good food and nice atmosphere – I have eaten at the resuraunt numerous times in the last 5 months while on business in Reno. Each time has been a pleasure. When trying to decide between two menu items, I asked the waitress for her recommendations. She asked me to trust her to get a dish I would like. When she came back with my order, the kitchen had a created a new dish that was wonderful! After this experience, I was sold. So far, I have not experienced any rude staff as described in other reviews. I find this place to be delightful. I woud recommed reservations as each time I have eaten here, it has been very crowded and the restaurant is small.
Worst Experience In a resturaunt in my life!!!! DON'T GO – La Famiglia on 1st
When we were making an intimate toast The Waiter who it turns out is also the "Son of the Owners" very rudely interrupted us.. He was abrupt and rude as if we were holding him up to make our order... I privately walked to the bar and let him know that it was my fiance's birthday and asked for a dessert He replied "No". Then after I stood there in disbelief.. He said that he had a candle.." Pease a small dessert and specifically one small cake with a candle".. He agreed. He then continued to rudely interrupt at every small moment I had with my fiance and felt he was doing this on purpose during intimate conversation and, as if we were taking to long with our salads...Well, it gets worse...We have our dinner and this guy when we are finished stops paying attention and we sit for nearly 20 minutes with no service, dirty plates, no water refill ever in the evening..He then comes to the table my Fiance hands him the credit card..and tells him we would like our check of coarse not knowing I have a surprise...I assume this guy is intelligent enough to bring the cake at this time and change the mood that he has created by doing something right...No so instead what he does..He charges the card for our meal completely dismisses the fact that I asked for a cake and it's his birthday while he should have handed the check to me because, that's what I had asked him to do. He then turns to my fiance hands him the check and tells him "Happy Birthday". and then tells my Fiance "I didn't want to embarrass you in front of everyone" ...I have never encountered such a situation in my life...I was in tears. I contacted the review journal for the owners names and when I called Paolo the father He completely dismissed me...Don't waste your money on these awful people they need to be driven out of town..We live in the Tahoe City & The Palladio down town and this was a real bummer for us...
