My go to spot for morning joe – The coffee butlers are friendly to almost to a fault (some may find this annoying, I find the energy level in the early AM inspiring). I am so over Starbucks with its watered down coffee and barista language. Peet's does it with style, flavor and panache. Plus the scones and muffins are so good. At this location, they bring in scones from La Brea Bakery... so good
Great service and very clean. If you like your coffee strong, come get it at Pete's! However, if you are used to another place, I do not recommend any drink here.
Great spot to stop for coffee and watch the cars go by.
I like everything about Peet's - the atmosphere, the coffee, the tasty treats, the friendly employees, the service and the free Wi-Fi (one hour). Why not five stars? - I think it's silly that you have to get a special password when you buy your coffee in order to access the Wi-Fi. Are you really that afraid that someone is going to camp out on one of your benches eight hours a day while surfing on their MacBook? Only one hour of free Wi-Fi? Hello, if I'm there for more than an hour, I'm very likely to buy more stuff.
Incredibly friendly staff. Even willing to create something from scratch for you. Love the Espresso Forte and straight up cappuccino every morning.
If you're stuck with a cold, order the "Medicine Ball"! it works wonders. Infused with Peete's Lemon Rose, Xiao's Blend, Pure Peppermint tea this powerful punch will help clear up your congestion and fight that nasty cold.
Dark-roast beans mean extra strong coffee at this Starbucks alternative coffee chain. – The Scene
Since its Berkeley beginnings in 1966, this chain has swapped its beatnik spirit for corporate glory. Cool flagstone floors and rich mahogany-colored paneling make for a sleek stop, but not a haunt in which to linger. Once the den of intellectuals and fringe artists, Peet's went IPO in early 2001 and is now frequented almost exclusively by people who want the conveniences of a franchised coffeehouse without having to succomb to Starbucks world domination.
Robust without being overbearing, strong but not bitter, Peet's "deep roast" beans make for a fine cup of joe. Straight up or in a latte, its dark, full-bodied character carries through. Hungry? You can always nab a blueberry muffin or an orange scone, but why not opt for one of the fine French pastries? Almond creme croissants, buttery apricot bars or eggy pain creme fraiche studded with fresh blueberries pair well with the brews.
Way too strong – The staff are friendly but the coffee itself is way too strong and will give you the shakes. The patrons and staff however will make it up -- they're friendly and the regulars can always be found with their dog hanging out outside. And the pastry shelf is top notch. Just avoid the coffee.
