Part spa, part yoga palace. Cause the only thing that could top a yoga class is a relaxing massage (or just passing out, but a massage is more classy).

Lies and Trickery. This place is shady. I purchased an online deal advertising massage as well as a scrub for hand and feet. When I call to book the appointment, the attendant was rude, and explained that what I bought was a hand massage. Nowhere on the deal does it say a hand massage, it says Massage. This is a complete bait and switch. When I explained to her the situation and how the deal was misleading, she agreed and admitted it was confusing, but refused to honor the deal. I have no interest in a hand massage, but she did offer me a full body massage for full price in a condescending manner! OH THANK YOU SO MUCH! Please don't give your money to these thieves. There are plenty other honest spas in the area which deserve the business.

Citysearch Editorial Review – Climbing vines, comfy rattan furniture, suspended decorative umbrellas and vibrant floor tiles create a Thai-inspired oasis at this El Leon sister property in Silver Lake. The breezy entryway-waiting area connects the spa with a 1500-square-foot yoga studio (formerly Lake boutique). With whitewashed walls leading up to exposed beam ceilings, flickering candles atop antique furniture and a brass chandelier overhead, the latter is an ideal spot to practice Kundalini yoga. After a workout, retreat to the spa for a traditional Thai, deep tissue, hot stone or lomi lomi massage. Ayurvedic and organic facials are also available, and if you want to get your energy flow sorted out, there's acupuncture and reiki. For the ultimate indulgence, opt for the Rock Star: two hours of head-to-toe pampering that includes a foot and hand treatment, full-body Thai massage, organic facial and a head, neck and face massage. Hey, you earned it, right?

a painful massage experience – It would probably be a very good place if you like really hard massages...really unbelievably hard. I have compressed nerves in my neck/shoulder area (thoracic outlet syndrome) and have a computer job and hold a lot of tension in that area. I was recommended to get a massage from my chiropractor and in the past it has released some of the tension. I called Raven and asked what was suggested for shoulder, beck and back problems and was recommended the deep tissue massage. The massage was extremely painful and so my body was very tense the entire time, which probably made it worse. I did say several times that it was too hard, but in the massage therapist's defense, I did not realize how bad it was and so was not forceful about saying it was too hard continuously. I also had not had a deep tissue massage only Swedish and shiatsu massages and so I thought the pain meant the knots were getting worked out and it would feel better after she worked the area and it was looser. I also figured that since she was a professional that she was in tune with muscles enough to tell if they were getting worked out or hurt more and I expected her to sense more when I was totally tensed up in pain (which was my fault to assume that). The next day, I am still very much in pain. The muscles are sore to the point of feeling bruised. Even though I am aware that I did not give enough direction about the strength, I would not go back. I definitely feel that the massage caused more damage than it helped. I also thought it was quite expensive.

Get beaten into serenity (in a good way!) – Aaah. I had the most rejuvenating massage of my life at The Raven yesterday. Although it is pricier than most Thai massage places, I felt extremely confident and trusting in my masseur.

After having a bad experience at a random Hollywood Thai massage place where the lady lightly poked me, I found it a huge relief that the masseuses at The Raven do not tread lightly unless requested.

The masseur was very sensitive to the fact that I am a big, hulking 5'1" and 100 pounds, but I asked him to go at my muscles no holds barred, and that he did.

If you're in serious pain from lots of sitting at computers and typing away, then do yourself a favor & spend the $70 for their one hour massage. You may feel like you've been stretched, pounded and twisted in every way imagineable, but you will emerge in a zen-like state, and your body will thank you!

Tranquil and beautiful spot, wonderful traditional Thai massage – A friend gave me a gift certificate to The Raven for my birthday. First, this is not a regular Western style spa, and that's a good thing. Don't expect jacuzzis here or cheesy key-lime or mango-peach treatments. You'll feel transported to another place. The open concept main room has a number of massage beds on platforms all separated by curtains - which gives a communal feel - but when you enter your little curtained off area, there's plenty of privacy. The sound of water fountains and the darkened, sage-smelling atmosphere really makes you feel like you've entered a sacred space rather than a spa. The traditional Thai massage was amazing. If you've never had a Thai massage, it's pretty intense. It can hurt, but you feel so good when it's done. I was greeted and sent off with a hug, and I'll definitely be back. Loved it.

reply to false advertising – My name is Barry and I am the owner of the Raven. I believe in Citisearch and I believe in free speech. I also believe in fair and accurate speech. It has been almost a year since "false advertising" came into my spa. I have avoided saying anything for this entire time. But she is not being entirely truthful. alas, I must speak my mind. "false advertising" came in after receiving a promotional offer entitling her to a free 10 minute hand and foot massage with her paid 1 hour massage. I told the masseuse and handed the customer over to her. My staff is Thai and in our conversation the extra 10 minutes was lost in translation. For this mistake we are guilty. The massage however was indeed 1 hour and 2 minutes. I personally clocked it because I was concerned that it did not last the extra 10 minutes. I discussed it with the customer " false advertising" and told her I noticed that the masseuse had not given her the extra free ten minutes and that I was very sorry. I asked her if she liked the massage and she replied "Yes, it was very good" I wanted to honor the free extra 10 minutes but we agreed it didn't make sense to put the out fit back on and go back into the whole routine so I asked her if she would consider coming back again. She replied " yes". I gave her a business card with a hand written note that she was "entitled to the extra time" when she came in again. After she left I made another note for the front desk staff to give her an extra " 30 minutes " as a little consolation to her. If " false advertising" had ever told me that she was that upset or that she wasn't going to come back I would have just refunded her a more than the fair amount to make good with her. Our masseuses never give less than a full hour massage. on the contrary they are famous for going well over.

NOTE " false advertising" still has a thirty minute credit at the front desk. thank you for letting me be fair and honest.

False advertising – The Raven is very close to my house, so it would naturally be my first choice of spa locations, however after my last experience, I am now going to look for an alternative. I had decided to get a Thai massage and know that these are available all over town for $45-$55 per hour. I had received a promotional card from The Raven advertising a free foot and hand massage with any service so I called and was promised 'a longer massage than one hour + a 12-15 minute hand and foot massage." The gentleman said "you will definitely be here for an hour and a half." I actually received a 50 minute massage with no additional time OR the hand and foot massage. When I pointed it out to the same gentleman who took my original call, he said "next time you're here, I promise we'll give you the free hand and foot massage" and then promptly charged me $70.00. I will not be going back.

Exquisite massage at this magical sanctuary – Absolutely the best massages I've had anywhere! The atmosphere is so calming and magical with the candlelight and antique fountain. You almost get the feeling of being massaged in some jungle retreat. I always walk out feeling totally at peace. Definitely recommended!

Best spa in LA (especially Eastside) – This past weekend I was looking on Citysearch to find a massage on the Eastside. I came across The Raven and decided to give it a chance. Being the massage junky that I am I went in with BIG expectations...especially since one of the revues stated BEST MASSAGE. Let me just confirm this. The Raven is the MOST AMAZING PLACE I have ever been to..the BEST massage, the BEST atmosphere (so intimate and unique), and just down right BEAUTIFUL. This place rocks....and I don't think alot of people know of this place still since it is so enchantingly hidden behind it's 100 year old Moroccan doors. The BEST find ever!! This is the real deal...AMAZING music (believe it or not) not the cheasy spa stuff, gorgeous decor w/ old wooden doors, tiles galore, soothing fountain, and for sure the most amazing massage I have ever had!! I didn't want to leave. I think I am going to have my next Birthday party there. They do private parties! Cool, eh? I can't wait to go back soon and try perhaps the Hawaiian Hotstone massage...then bring my man and get massaged together on those gorgeous Thai platform beds...such a romantic place at night if your with someone you love. Anyway, check it out and just melt away like I did.

Best massage in los angeles!!! – I have been searching for a true traditional Thai massage since I returned from Thailand. I've gone to all the cheap spots like pho siam and such. I then stumbled upon The Raven and was completely transported to another world. And then THE MASSAGE happened, and I have never been the same!! This place is by far the most incredible massage I have EVER had and the most unique and special experience I have EVER had in Los Angeles. This place is intoxicating and just so special!!
