Great place – Overall, I had a good dining experience. We had dinner here before we went to the theater. The place was beautiful and the service was great. They timed and spaced our dinner in accordance with our show. I wouldn't recommend this place for group events but it is a great place to bring a date.
an opening act worth coming early for – Pinot grill is located right in the middle of the music center and caters to a pre-theater crowd. It seems we got there right in time because most of the crowd left in a panic for fear of missing their show. Listen people, the theaters are right there, and my girlfriend and i quickly learned that since it is a pre-theater restaurant the food also comes out very quickly.
We were greeted by a lovely hostess and she immediatly brought us to our table. She told us our server would be right with us, and no sooner then when she turned around, there was our server Michael who quipped, "im the man who is going to get you to your show in time." We were instantly relieved. He got our drink order and left to retrieve them promising that he would be right back. When he brought our drinks he came prepared to answer any questions we had. In which we only had one: "what can be prepared fast?" "Everything," he said, "comes out fast because of the theater." I ordered the chateu of beef medium rare. My girlfriend ordered thier ahi. Maybe 5 minutes went by and there was the foodrunner with our meals. Wow! We took a few bites and both of us were pleasantly surprised that something that came out so fast was also so warm and tender. When Michael checked up on us he said, "told ya," and we temporarily forgot about past bad restaurant experiences. We finished our meal in time to enjoy a cup of coffee until the time came to get our check. When that time came we didn't even have to hunt our server down because he came johnny on the spot with our check already printed out.
I have never been to a restaurant which was so considerate to the customers needs. They know thier clientel so they adapt and for that i commend them. All in all it was a wonderful experience. I do however have to take issue that they don't serve tap water because they are outside with no plumbing. However there was plenty of good which redeemed the pinot grill.
Be careful – Unfortunately I decided to stop this Sunday for a lunch at Pinot Grill. After an $80 lunch for two (a rip off) my wallet was stolen inside the restaurant. I left my wallet on the table and as soon as I realized that I had forgotten it on the table (5 minutes later, still inside the music center patio) I came back and it was gone. Checked with staff and had very little help. By the way, there was no customer around my table and the time I spent away from the table was barely enough to clean my table completely (my glasses were still sitting in there). Bottom line is I am pretty confident I was stolen inside the Pinot Grill. Apparently not only their service is lousy, but not very reliable either. I would definitely not recommend it. Kendall?s downstairs would be a much safer bet!!!
