Find Another Place for your Pet! – I just took my puppy for a groom...and they shaved him completely! He has been moping around like a sad depressed dog for almost a week. Has anyone else had this problem? Also I;ve spoken to people who pick up their dogs from day care and they are super hyper from being locked up all day!! I've had much better experience at other dog groomers.....more affordable too. I agree with another review...the 5 star reviews are FAKE..it couldn't be more obvious.....sorry mgmt.....you're trying, but not fooling anyone with an average IQ. People who run these kind of places should hire more experienced staff, from word of mouth, it seems you have a lot of work to do:(
Good People, Good Place – i normally dont write online reviews. i have been taking my chihuahua mix to b.a. for daycare and boarding for over a year at their old address and I now take cHico to their downtown location. he gets picked up and dropped off every weekday unless i work from home. i have never had anything but a wonderful experience with these dog people and i like that a portion of the proceeds goes to help homeless animals. im writing this because its really offensive what some of these people are saying and they deserve to be defended. im sure everyone takes these reviews with a grain of salt because really, who are the sorts of people that write reviews? are you actually claiming that they sold your dog and then gave you the proceeds? these are dog people in the truest sense of the term. Chico wontt go anywhere else.
BE CAREFULL WHEN YOU LEAVE YOUR DOG HERE !!!!!!!!!! – After been taking my small dog to bark ave for groomig several times I decided to leave my best friend for a long weekend, on the third day this people coll me to tell me terrible news """they lost my dog""" the person on charge told me that my dog ''ran away'', how a ''''professional dog care specialist'''' could lost a dog?????
after two weeks of pretending search they reimburse the ammount i had pay for my best friend (they want to give me a dog from the shelter) but the point is that how can you replace a man best friend? what do i tell my three kids 13, 9 and 7 years old that grew together with our beloved dog?how a professional staff could loose any pet? the only explanation that i could came up is that after watching the people that works there either they sold my dog or he was very bad hurt by a larger dog.
BE CAREFULL WHEN YOU LEAVE YOUR DOG HERE ask a lot af questions, aks for a tour of the place
FAKE REVIEWS – I looked up this place after having a bad experience (very uneducated staff) & was surprised to see it was almost rated a 5 star!! After further inspection it made sense! All positive reviews are posted by OWNERS melaniepozez jayblumberg jasonblumberg. What frauds! I knew something didn't sit right, I am sure the other positive posts are others with close relations to these people! This should be a RED FLAG to all those considering boarding their dog at Bark Ave.
barkave – We saw that BarkAve was "voted number 1" but our experience was the opposite. We went to the BarkAve because it was "cage free". But when we went to pick up our dog, he was either caged or put in an office. I rarely saw anyone play with the dogs, much less supervise them. Most of the time, there was only one person working. When we asked why the dogs were not playing in the open rooms, we got various answers- remodeling, cleaning, getting ready for a meeting which all required that the main playroom be emptied. I was not quite satisfied with the answers so we found another cage free location that was really cage free, where the staff played and paid attention to the dogs and a webcam that proved it. For less money than at BarkAve, you can find a place that is open longer (including weekends), and cares for your dog properly.
Confused – I returned to pick my dog up after four days of boarding, the first thing I saw was that the main room... the main room where the dogs play... was open and under massive construction with sawdust all over the floor, construction supplies everywhere, and not a dog in sight. It was not like that when I dropped my dog off. If this room is under construction, where do the dogs play? I was never given a tour of any other play area. My dog was brought to me by the same girl who was there when I dropped off. Another employee was cleaning, another was decorating, and another was standing in the main room that was under construction. Who was with the dogs?
When I saw my dog, she had DEEP, FRESH, BLOODY GASHES on her nose. I was told these were scratches gotten from roughhousing with a r@t terrier. Now... I've seen my dog play before. We go to the dog park all the time. Whenever it gets too rough she yipes in a high pitched voice and tries to get away. She never ends up bloody. These gashes, after closer inspection, look like she put her nose through a cage and was bitten, yanking her nose away, the teeth causing the deep scratching. I'm no forensic scientist or anything, but it seems pretty obvious. When dogs nip at each other, it's usually around the ears and neck area, not nose first. Nose first is aggression. If they would have been honest with me I might actually have understood.
To top it all off. Her bed, which I was told I could bring and was hoping it would make her feel more at home, was almost NOT given back to me, I had to ask for it, and then I noticed that it was as sparkling clean as the day I brought it in. There was not a dog hair or a dirty paw print on it. She clearly did not sleep on it. So where and what did she sleep on? Why tell me I could bring a bed if they weren't going to let her use it? I do not understand all the good reviews of this place. Are they from employees?
Great for Cats – I take my 3 cats here and they love it!!! I love how they take care of them too because as the other reviewer said, most places ignore cats. I will be back!!
Loving convenience – The great team at Bark Avenue picks my dog up, superivses his play groups, loves him as I do and brings him home to me tired and happy. What more can you ask?
Kitty heaven – Most day care and boarding facilities ignore cats. Bark Avenue not only welcomed mine but the care offered was incredible. Dawn, the in house cat expert provided such love it brought tears to my eyes. This is my only destination!
For the true dog lover – It took about 30 seconds to realize how much the team at Bark Avenue loved my pup. When I returned after a week away my pup literally refused to leave. When Melissa, the director walked us out to my car and gave him a kiss I became a loyal client for life!
