This is the real deal – I sampled some of what this studio offers when they had free mat class on 'Pilates Day' Nadia warned us that even though we weren't going to do a lot of repetitions and not use equipment, we would be feeling it the next day...and she was RIGHT! She teaches a class called AFTERBURN during the week, so I tried it out on a Monday night and it worked me out-but I never felt like I couldn't handle it (I'm a novice) and she was really good about giving everyone equal attention. She seemed to really know her stuff and never let us get away with 'cheating'. It was a bit different from other pilates equipment classes I've taken. This one had us using the reformer in a cardio capacity while doing intervals of weight, ballet and yoga moves.
This studio is so bright and clean and it has less of that snobbery you might find at studios on the westside. They seem to also have reasonable prices compared to other studios I've been to. There is some construction work being done on Grandview, so you have to drive around to find parking on Kenneth road or try your luck in the parking lot across the street...that is if the owner of the grocery store doesn't come out to harass you about it.
Great Classes! – I love taking classes at Pilates Body! I always get a great workout and have learned so much over the past few months. I feel very comfortable at the studio and the instructors are more friendly and knowledgeable than all the other studios I have tried. It's worth the drive to get there! I have taken classes with many instructors, but I love Renee's classes because of the variety of exercises from class to class - it's always very different which makes it fun. Plus she really kicks my butt into shape. My husband and friends can already see noticeable results. I'm becoming addicted. I can't miss a class during the week and I really really want to go every single day if I could. Try it and you will love it!
Great People! Great times! – I look foward to my Tuesdays and Thursdays because of not only the wonderful instructors, but also the other students! Pilates Body provides a great, welcoming environment for toning all the muscles! The positive energy and patient instructors really understand you don't want to push yourself too hard because it can only lead to chronic injuries. But at the same time, they make sure you are properly utilizing the right muscles for each exercise. Instructor teaching styles vary from westcoast, eastcoast, classical, and even a San Francisco style Pilates! Typical weight training seems to tighten and shorten muscles while pilates, on the other hand, lengthens my muscles and increases flexibility. They offer mat, reformer, springboard, BOSU, and jumpboard classes which all make the curriculum exciting and new for an extremely affordable price! There's even a cute boutique inside where you can not only purchase work out clothes but also comfortable and cute street wear. Can't say enough about this studio!
