Expensive and awful – You get what you pay for.
They charge an additional $20-$30 for parking and there's no free parking nearbye.
Add $10 per night for internet cause they don't have any wireless or free internet anywhere in their premises not even their hotel lobby.
Awful customer support.
Awful customer service.
Small beds - not for tall people
You'll hear your neighbors through the thin walls talk.
Everything is expensive.
Feels like a cheap run down resort rather than a Hyatt.
I felt feeling scammed!
Mixed Reviews – I give this Hyatt mixed reviews... First off, I traded my timeshare for a week in this Hyatt... For a trade with my timeshare - I would give this a 5 star! The bed was super comfortable... the grounds were nice... it was pretty good... but, this is ONLY because I used my timeshare... Now, let's say I didn't use my timeshare and I actually had to pay for it... I wouldn't! Why? The bathroom was tiny and it smelled like a dump. There were no elevators to get to our room... we have a 10 month baby so carrying the stroller up and down the stairs isn't fun. The pool wasn't heated so we couldn't use it. The beds were nice - as I stated above. To sum it up.. .for a timeshare, great... for a hotel you pay for - no way!
Service is above and beyond! – My wife and I were visting and we found this hotel on-line. When we arrived, the front desk perspn was beyond nice and even found us a king bed at the last minute. It's our anniversary, can you blame us for not wanting double beds. The bell cap was friendly and full of stories. He took us to our room in a little golf cart and was crisp and efficient. The room was comfortable and had a great view, terrific shower and well appointed. When I had a question, the front desk was incredibly nice and knew the answers by heart. At one point, my wife realized she forgot her curling iron. I called the front desk and asked if they had a curling iron she could use. (a long shot I realize) The front desk called right back and said they didn't. Housekeeping called 30 seconds later and said they didn't have one, but they could send someone to the store. We didn't have the time, but the level of service was outstanding. While my wife slept in, I dipped my feet in the hot tub and it was magnificent. We called and had a late check out, which the front desk gladly accomodated and they recommended Wilma's over on Balboa Island. (see my review) I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The service is outstanding in an era where service and our expectations have been watered down. Stay here and relax. Soak up the sun, you'll leave feeling refreshed.
Citysearch Editorial Review – Located within walking distance of Balboa Island and Newport Harbor, this 430-room hotel caters to beach-bound families and business travelers. With a contemporary California Mediterranean motif--landscaped gardens, palm trees and rattan furniture upholstered in bright, buoyant colors--each room comes with a balcony or private patio. Three outdoor swimming pools and whirlpools add to the tropical setting. Sol Restaurant offers simply prepared meat and seafood dishes while Sandbar Lounge is where folks convene for an evening cocktail.
Great Getaway Hotel – Really nice hotel and a great deal on their website. Perfect for a getaway from LA. Service made you feel like you were at home. Our room was large and had a nice balcony with a view of the golf course. 3 pools with one away from the families/kids. Landscaping is nice. Lot's of palm trees that make you feel like you're in Hawaii. Restaurant was so-so. Bar was fun. Had a firepit and had a live band. Easy walk to Balboa Island. We'll defnitely come back.
Business and pleasure unite at this bayside resort. – The Scene
This huge resort is located on Newport's Back Bay and offers recreation for both leisure travelers and convention-goers on 26 park-like acres. Martha Mitchell occupied one villa when she made her infamous Watergate-era phone calls to blow the whistle on the Nixon Administration and her husband, then U.S. Atty. Gen. John Mitchell. History aside, some of the world's top CEOs meet here for meetings at the large convention spaces.
The resort's collection of pink stucco, Spanish-style guest rooms and villas are spacious and casually decorated, and some feature bay views. When not in meetings, or if you're simply here for pleasure, there is a wide range of activities, including 16 tennis courts at the pro-run Palisades Tennis Club, a nine-hole golf course with bay views and acres of secluded paths that wind through the compound. A summer jazz series livens up the scene.
