We totally love this new place we discovered. Elephant Bar, you rock!!!! – The best Elephant Bar we've ever been. We've been to this Elephant Bar in Daly City twice. We were so lucky to have the same waitress twice. Her name is Stacey. She's awesome. We have to be at church before 7:30 p.m. and asked her if she could rush the order for us. This is her second time now to do it for us. I don't think she remembered us from the last time. Anyway, she always comes out with flying colors. We got there at around 6:45. She brought our orders by 6:55. That was totally unbelievable. Their mahimahi plate with the macadamia nut sauce is a winner!!!!
Thank you Elephant Bar for making our visit always right on time and always pleasant! You rock!!!!
Bad Service – Last night I went to the Elephant Bar in Serramonte. I was expecting the same mediocre food (with really great ranch dressing) and average prices that come with the Elephant Bar experience.
The service was horrible. The wait was 30 minutes longer than they said it would be, and we ended up just leaving. I I might not have minded the wait as much except that while I was waiting at the bar the two bartenders spent all their time talking to the wait staff and my drink sat empty for like 15 minutes. I was actually waving my arm at one point and they did not notice.
When I was on the way out I asked for a comment card and the hostess pointed to a box without saying a word. All around bad service. Is this place run by 8 year olds?
Go With the Appetizers & salads – Have yet to try an entree here, but the appetizers are pretty good. The artichoke dip comes with thin, crispy tortilla chips and the new fried tempura salmon sushi roll wasn't bad except the rice was mushy. The fried coconut shrimp was very good. The shrimp wasn't overcooked and served w/a dipping sauce. The Vietnamese rice roll was nicely filled w/lettuce and vermicelli noodles and came w/a delicious peanut sauce and spicy sauce, but they didn't give you enough to dip. Their salads are very good, tried the iceberg wedge, caesar & mojo salads, the sides are enough for one. Skip the onion soup, it's terrible. The French Dip roast beef sandwich & jambalaya are pretty good. The tri-tip wasn't bad but the lamb shank tasted very gamey and I wouldn't recommend their Pad Thai, better to have that at an authentic Thai restaurant, it was like some bad stir-fried dish. Have been there a half dozen times and staff is usually friendly. The desserts are huge and easily shared by 2-3 especially the cookie sandwich & mud pie. The creme brulee was huge and too much for one person to eat. The fruit cobbler was too sweet. The NY cheesecake was big enough for 3 to share. Large portions!
