This is just a quick note to say that I really appreciate the friendly and professional assistance that the people in my house received from maintenace man Behadil Zukanovic. During the cold spell last week he worked very hard to repair water service issues in our house. He was very willing to explain what was going on and he did a good job of getting our water restored very quickly. So, thank you Behadil.
I have a lot of negative things to say about BMG, but we found one positive thing to remark on and that is their maintenance guy, Bruce. We have been through MANY maintenance people and Bruce is the only one who knows what he's doing. If you are renting from BMG and have a problem, request Bruce and accept the extra waiting time...because it's not extra waiting time when the other maintenance crew members don't bother coming around at all. Bruce, when he gets a chance to come by, will actually come by and fix the problem. Imagine that. He is the only competent employee of BMG I've ever interacted with. He knows what he's doing, and he'll do it.
We struggled for OVER 2 months to get our A/C fixed, by someone--anyone, not specifically Bruce (we didn't know him yet)--but the office staff at BMG seemed to be working together to fail miserably at communicating this problem to the maintenance staff. I might have been irritated with maintenance on their slow response before, but now I see that it is the fault of the office staff. I called 46 times in two weeks (counted the calls on my phone, that's not an exaggeration), they never answered. Left a message four times, they called back four times, but had to ask for a full run-down of what was happening each time. When I explained to them what was happening (that someone is miscommunicating and we keep getting bumped off the maintenance list, "I just need an update on what's happening"), the office person will inevitably tell me "I'm going to check on that and get back to you, I'll call you right back." I wait patiently for their call, I call back after a few hours (no answer), and two days later I give up, call back, and leave a new message, only for the whole hellish process to repeat itself. THIS CRAP is why it took so long to get the A/C fixed. Because BMG is too lazy or too scared or too stupid to work a phone to call me back and let me know what is happening. (Note: I only wanted an explanation, not a promise that it would be fixed that day. I just wanted to know if they were ordering a part or had lost our info or what. But no. No explanation. Just frustration.)
I understand the office gets busy. But this went on for two and a half months. If you can't find the time to call me back in two and a half months, maybe I can't find the time to pay rent.
That being said, Bruce is our saving grace. He left us his cell number so we could bypass BMG's horrible service and call him instead if we need to get a message through to him. He ran into just about every problem you can possibly have when fixing a heating and A/C problem (mostly due to the laziness of past maintenance crews), but he was patient and happy to help. He revamped our entire system, and he did it in a timely manner and with a great attitude. He's a fun guy and while I don't trust any other maintenance person alone in our house, I would trust Bruce to be here without supervision. We've had a lot of issues with maintenance at BMG in the past, including theft and a guy who just didn't know what he was doing so we endured a winter without heat because he could only offer a temporary solution that would fix the problem for a couple days before we had to call and put in another maintenance request (and we know how long it takes to respond to those...).
Bruce is the first one we can trust alone in the house and the first to actually FIX the problem at its source, not just slap a band-aid on it and hope it goes away. His solution will save us money in LG&E costs as well as keep our old apartment cool and working efficiently. He's a genius, I tell you. Nothing sways him. BMG did something right for once when they hired him!
Worst people to pay rent too. They are only concerned with making money and do not care about the renter. They have very shaddy business practices. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere to rent.
BED BUGS BED BUGS!!!!!!! – BED BUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NJOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!! I HAVE HAD BED BUGS FOR OVER A YEAR AND BMG DOES NOT CARE. I HAVE SPENT OVER 2000 DOLLARS TREATING THE PROBLEM MYSELF. THEY ALSO LOST MY RENT MONEY TWICE AND TRIED TO EVICT ME FOR THEIR CARELESSNESS!!!!RUN PEOPLE RUN-ITS CHEAP FOR A REASON!!!!!@@@!!!@!@
Warning! DO NOT RENT FROM BMG!!! – In late June 2011, the apartment I currently rent from Broadway Management was broken into. This was the 9th occurrence of home invasion. I wrote a letter to BMG, which I sent as certified mail to ensure its arrival. The letter stated this: "In its current condition, the apartment (103) in building 315 West Hill St. is completely unsecured. There are several changes that must be implemented. Tenant?s rent of said apartment will furthermore be withheld until said changes are made: ? Porch light fixture fixed and functional ? All windows able to open and lock, functional ? Mailbox lockable/ functional ? Security gate lockable/ functional In the past 12 months, apartment 103 in building 315 West Hill St. has been burglarized approximately nine (9) times, with over $2800 in cash and personal effects stolen. Wednesday, June 29th 2011, another home invasion occurred. This most recent attack resulted in a stolen laptop ($500), Ipod ($399), and a backpack that contained several pricy textbooks and a passport. Broadway Management Group is not being penalized for the actual theft- but Broadway Management Group has a responsibility to make its rental properties secure. In doing so BMG can help prevent such heinous events from transpiring. A fully functional porch light is the first defense in deterring thieves. Located right off an alleyway, the apartment is surrounded by darkness at night. The security gate does not lock at all nor does it have any type of locking device. Anyone strolling down the alley can enter the premises. This is unacceptable. Due to the unsecure gate, the mailbox for apartment 103 (315 W. Hill St.) has been tampered with. It has been pried open with a sharp apparatus and no longer locks. Mail has been stolen from the box, including but not limited to, paychecks, electricity bills, and correspondence from Broadway Management Group. The windows of the aforementioned apartment are currently all nailed or drilled shut. There is only one way in and out of the apartment unit and these windows pose a serious, life-threatening fire hazard. They are definitely not up to code. Having the windows in this condition does not deter home intruders either. In fact, on several occasions the windows have been jammed up by intruders; the old wood splitting easily, allowing the windows to open. These preventative measures must be fully enacted before another tenant payment is made. " The letter was received in the first week of July, on the 7th. A week later maintenance came by and fixed the outside light fixture and the mailbox. That's all. True to our word, we did not pay the rent because not all problems had been fixed, the most concerning being the security gate lock. My sister, also a tenant, called BMG on July 25th. We had not heard anything from them; not a rent payment late notice, not a letter stating they were going to fix the remaining problems, nothing. She spoke specifically to a guy named Eric. She called and asked if we needed to get a
THEY ARE JUST LAZY! – Moved into the apartment almost a year ago out in olham county called The Meadows. We went and checked the apartment out and i have to agree that for $465 a month for a 1 bedroom they are pretty spacious. Thats about the only positive thing i have to say about the apartments.
A couple months into the apartment i started noticing while walking into the building that the hallways were DISGUSTING. Leaves everywhere, cobwebs everywhere, chunks missinging out of the carpets, and old dead bugs laying on the ground. I wish we would have noticed these things before signing a lease.
We started to notice other things a couple months in....
One day i was putting some things away in the storage room and i started smelling cat urine or mildew. I got down on my hands and knees to smell the carpet and looked under the fernace and there was cat poop along with cat litter lying on the floor....WE DONT OWN CATS!!!!
In the past couple months we have complained about the bathroom ceiling leaking water, my boyfriend almost fell when he slipped in a puddle one morning. We didnt notice when he first moved in but you can tell it's been a problem before because it looks as if it's been patched up mulitple times. Just like the blinds, we can't even put them back up because they have bee screwed in so many times the dry wall will no longer hold them. And the screen we have asked for our patio door EVERYTIME we went to pay the rent. All of these things have been complained about multiple times and we keep getting the same run around..." we will be out there in a couple days to fix it." Its been months now. We even spoke with the manager at the Broadway Managment Group face to face and she pretented to act concerned and said somebody would be out in the next couple days. IT'S BEEN 2 WEEKS!
If you ever tour one of their apartments make sure you look at EVERYTHING. Now i know that if they can't even take care of their hallways where residents and guest have to walk threw the most...that they proabley cant take care of anything else either.
I see how another user has made a comment about no hot water. IT COULDNT BE MORE TRUE. Almost 3 or 4 times a month the hot water just stops working...nothing will even come out of the spout! I agree with the people who say whoever gave BMG a rating over 2 stars is lying or must work for them because I have never heard anything BUT complaints from the people who have actually had to live in them!
I had a terrible renting experience with BMG. – Broadway Management Group are one of the most unscrupulous property management groups in town - several others are reported to be bad, but BMG are truly the most notorious slumlords around. They pay no heed to their properties, often leaving them in disrepair, they have their employees write up false positive reviews on websites like this one in an attempt to boost their ratings, and they will nickel and dime their tenants whenever and however they can. Should you choose to rent one of their properties:
- Be sure that you give them 60 days notice when you decide to move out, and do it in writing. They will take your security deposit if you don
Great Management Company - Big Thanks to Quannie – Thanks to the hard work of Quannie and Shawnna we are looking forward to moving into a beautiful house in the highlands.
Thank you so much for all of your help and support!
They are improving greatly – My bf and I have been renting from BMG since July and our experiences so far have been great. Any time we have a maintenance problem they always respond in a timely manner. With a more recent issue, they were out here within an hour and stayed for at least two hours. They made sure the job was completed and even took the time to clean up their mess. Whatever happened 3 or more years ago that I have read about is a thing of the past.
Also, our rent check is always cashed within 2 days, whereas our last renter never cashed them within a week, leaving our bank account on the fritz. So they have made vast improvements. All in all, I give them 4 stars. Thanks, BMG!
Great experience! – I've been with broadway management for 2 and half years now. I've never had a problem with them. I even got few of my friends to use them. Everytime I get some kind of issue they seem to always take the time to make sure the issue is taken care of in a timely manner. When I drop the rent of at their office, the workers are very friendly. I have nothing but good things to say about broadway management group. Thank you Shawnna and your team for the hospitaly we've received through out the years. I highly recommend giving them a try.
