This is just a heads up about Digital Powell rip off that is taking place everyday in the heart of San Francisco. I bought a camera, a memory card (4Gb), and a camera bag from Best Camera (Digital Powell) on O'Farrell Street for 260, 39 and 27 dollars while the retail prices are $80, $9 and $6 respectively. I was lied to by the sale person (Tony) and made to believe that the items are discounted; otherwise I wouldn't pay that money. When I confronted the sale person about this an hour later, he refused to take back the items and return back my money. Something should be done to stop these crooks from ripping off Americans and tourists.
DON'T BUY HERE PLEASE! – TOURIST DON'T EVER BUY FROM THEM, EVER they charge you at least the double of the normal price. They don't show the prices on the products so you have no idea what they really cost. When you ask for a price they give you a really high one, so... you say no way I will buy that for that price....then they lower the price, and keep lowering it and try to convince you that you are getting the best deal ever. Well, people like me, tourist and from other countries were everything it is so expensive that even the things that are expensive here are cheap for us, well, we will fell on this game and we will buy.......and hey are no refunds for your purchase, you can only exchance and within 3 days. I am paying for my ignorance. They don't even deserve one star. They take advantage of people like me, that trust people, that they are honest.
PLEASE DON'T EVEN GET CLOSE TO THE STORE
Rip-off at Digital Powell – wow... I just wish I had checked this citysearch page before I went to buy a camera from this place. I live in the City, so it's even worse :( ... I was gonna go on a trip and needed a specific camera and this place seemed to have it. In my hurry I did not check prices well enough and the guy sold me a 32GB memory card for almost TRIPLE the price at 125$, where it's listed for 45$. Realizing this the same night I went back the next day and confronted the man... he was down to earth and not even ashamed of his fraud.
So, I learned my lesson. Check market prices before you go into sketchy shops like this. Otherwise they rip you off with no merci.
DO NOT GO THERE!!!
NEVER EVER PURCHASE FROM THIS STORE. – My father went to San Francisco for vacation and he stopped in this store to buy a camera. he bought Sanyo CG-10 Camera from this store.
They charged him $1,200 and w/tax equaled $1,314 for a camera w/retai price of $130. They confirmed the product's cost was $1,200.
My father was visiting San Francisco when this happened and just made me aware of this matter. they intentionally deceived him and took advantage of him. I cannot just standby and not let this matter be brought to the attention of those that can do something about this matter. I am going to complain about them and if necessary I will do all what I can to make them close their business.
Very Very bad experience
