Baffon – I guess you can't give less than 1-star. This guy is a complete jackazz. He is incompetent, uneducated, and thinks he knows everything. I have more guns in my personal inventory than he has in his shop, and I won't even begin to to talk about his ammunition stock...or lack there-of.
DO NOT DO ANY PAPERWORK HERE UNLESS HIS WIFE IS THERE!!!!! HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE IS DOING AND WILL SCREW IT UP.
Did a PPT here - went fine and fast – I met someone here for PPT and didn't run into any of the issues below. Granted, Deepak and his wife were there when I arrived (they are the owners). So I don't know if they'll do one if he isn't there.
But my experience was good,a smooth transaction and they didn't give me the slightest bit of grief for doing a PPT.
what would best buy tell you if your lap top broke? – your glock/ did not work? and the store told you to send it to the factory because they did not want to void the warrenty. i bought a HP lap top from best buy with out the extended warenty . when it broke the same week I went back to best and thy told me to send it back to HP for the MFG WARENTY. I was pissed off at best buy. It is easer to go after the small stores. It is also easy to assume the worst with preset judgment if some one that woud be different in apprence. Ihad spend $100 to ship my lap top to hp and I won,t get it back for six weeks but why be made the salesperson at best buy? after all he did not buid the laptop and someone in china did. white is right
1) Sold me a defective gun 2) "ITS NOT OUR FAULT, ****ER!!" – I bought a defective Gen 4 Glock 17C from this guy. I took it out to the range right after buying it, and about half the time it failed to load and/or the slide failed to kick back and eject the last bullet.
I spoke with the guy who owns this shop, and he seemed convinced its because I'm not holding the gun firmly. I've since shot a Gen 2 Glock 17, and had no issues, even limp-gripping it.
I spoke with Glock Tech Support, and they said he's wrong, and that it needs to be sent back to Glock for warranty repairs.
So, now I'm out 2 to 4 weeks and $70 for shipping my brand new gun back to Glock because Dublin Knives & Guns refuses to stand behind what they sold me. BEWARE.
UPDATE: The owners noticed this review, and the lady who called me seemed to be trying to handle it professionally, then the guy got on the phone, got irate, reiterated that it's not their fault, and ranted at me, saying stuff like "you probably don't even know how to USE a gun", and "you probably shouldn't even OWN a gun", letting not a word in edgewise, instead of trying to see what they could do to help remedy the situation.
Definitely not buying from these guys ever again.
Dublin store loses 2 more customers over bad policies... – Like Gnf2, I attempted to do a Private Party Transfer at this establishment. I also got the same story about how the "boss has to be here in order to do a PPT." I called ahead and was given a time when the owner was supposed to be there. Naturally, when I arrived at the store, the owner was not around. What made this particularly frustrating is that the other party in the transaction drove 40 miles and took a half-day off of work to do the transfer.
Don't be misled by their charades, this store store simply has decided to avoid doing PPTs--a responsibility that goes along with having a Federal Firearms License. By playing their little game, they are doing a huge disservice to the shooting community, and do not deserve the support of that community.
What close-minded store owners do not realize is that every PPT brings two customers into their store, and one of those customers has to return to pick up the firearm. This translates to three potential sales opportunities, as well as future business. By making a decision to "avoid" Private Party Transfers, the stores are cutting their own throats. I support the local gun stores, and go out of my way to buy gear and supplies from them in lieu of online sources, but I won't be buying anything from this place, even though it means driving a good deal farther to another store.
As for the transfer, we ended up driving a few blocks to Big 5 Sporting Goods, where two enthusiastic sales people were eager to help us with our paperwork. I have since been to two other Big 5 stores for PPTs and they have always handled them promptly and professionally. In other words, they treat it as just another facet of their business, unlike some of the independent firearms dealers who tend to interject their personalities into the process.
Rude, Arrogant & Cheat – The owner of this place is rude and arrogant. He is very unhelpful and over charges for everything. I would advise avoiding this place at all costs!
Do not go there for a PPT – On 11/27/09, I called the store at 12noon. Jack answered the phone and I found out that they will be open Sat. 11/28/09 from 12noon to 6pm. I tell Jack that I would like to come in on Sat. to do a person to person (PPT) handgun ownership transfer between myself and my Nephew. He said okay, but come between 3 and 5pm. I said fine, see you tomorrow.
Now, Jack is the Manager and he is the only one there working by himself. I never did see the Owner if he ever shows up. I have done a PPT there about a year and a half ago. No problems. That is why I chose to go back and do another PPT at their store.
So on Sat. 11/28/09 I show up at 3pm with my Nephew. There was one customer ahead of me and he just bought a firearm and Jack was busy doing the DROS paperwork on the computer. 25 minutes later, he was done and my Nephew and I were the only ones in the store. Nobody even came in during my wait. Jack approached me and said what do I need. I said I was here to do the PPT.
Here is where it gets f**ked up. Jack said he can't do it.
Dumbfounded I asked why and he said because the Owner wasn't here. I said wait a minute, I called the day before, told you what I needed done, and you NEVER said that the Owner had to be present to do a PPT. I said but you did a PPT for me about one and a half years ago by yourself, why not now ?! He said that the owner was supposed to show up to today and since he's not here Jack can't do the PPT.
I was pissed ! I traveled all the way from San Leandro and even scheduled my errands so that I could accomodate his time slot of 3 to 5pm. What the Hell does having the Owner present have to do with Jack being allowed to do a PPT. That wasn't a problem the last time I was there. He apologized and flatly stated that IF the Owner was present, the PPT could be done, but no Owner and Jack cannot not do it.
I just shook my head and left. Wasted the entire day. By then other stores were closed so I couldn't go elsewhere to get it done. It would have been nice to be told up front that doing the PPT depended on the Owner being present and there was no guaranty that he would show up, much less between 3 and 5pm.
The only thing I can think of is the Owner does not make much money charging $35 for the PPT. So he made a new rule that he must be present to see what type of firearm is being tranferred so he can decide how much more to charge. Another reason is maybe he no longer trusts Jack to do a PPT by himself because of something bad that happened in the past and it brought scrutiny from the ATF.
Would not recommend – I recently made a handgun purchase from this location. I felt that I found a reliable store and that my money was well spent. However, for my gun they did not have any magazines, but I was told they would be with the gun when I picked up. On pickup day, I was told I had to come back two days later... they had processed my paperwork late. On my real pickup date, they had no magazines for my gun. I was told they would be ordered and sent directly to my address. I am still waiting quite some time later for those magazines to arrive. Only positive thing is that the owner did accommodate around my work schedule so that I could pickup without waiting an additional four days beyond my first available day. But, in general I would not recommend this store. The younger guy is very pushy, and had it of been that they had the particular gun I was looking for, I would never have purchased from someone using his type of sales tactic. Avoid making purchases from this location.
No Country for Old Men – The grumpy guy rocks! He doesn't like small talk and hates working for people who create more problems than they can solve. Love the dude.
Give the grump old guy a break! – The ?young guy with the wife? I believe is the owner.
As for the grumpy old guy? He worked at Traders in San Leandro, a local and once legendary gun shop, forever before they lost their FFL. The young guy is lucky to have the old guy! He knows firearms very well and knows the routine without exception. As others have said he will get you whatever you need. He is an old school patriotic gun guy and actually has a personality once you?ve dealt with him a few times. If you want Nordstrom?s service with somebody following you around kissing your butt you should go elsewhere. But understand these stores are limited in the area. Had a bad experience first time at the Livermore gun shop (not Dom?s) but had a great visit the next???
I think you?ll find the prices at this store are competitive on selected items if you shop around.
