The worst – Joe - August 25th, 2011

I thought this Toni might be exaggerating. BUT Toni was NOT. I know that one of the Managers from Hometown Buffet. Has been working at this Ryan's. In the past this Ryan's has disappointed me and a friend. But since this manager went to work there. I thought I would give it another try. I was there about 7:15 pm. No one at the register for some time. As I stood there. The place was not real busy. I went on to my table my waitress was nice. I went over to order a steak , there was nothing. I did not mind waiting the 4 to 5 minutes I was told. But it turned into longer. I ordered 2 steaks cooked medium. Well They were pretty rare. I noticed a after taste. The waitress ordered me another one. It was cooked right. But there was that taste again. The meat on all 3 steaks had the same taste. Like the meat might have been left out most of the day or something. I told a friend on my cell phone. I was at a nasty restaurant and hope the food did not make me sick. The food on the buffet , you could tell had sat out there for a long time. some crusted over. There was a noodle dish with mushrooms that the noodle turned to mush. I looked and tasted like it would have been a good food, if it was fresh or EVEN fresher.I could not bring myself to eat it. The fried chicken had set there so long it had a old taste. They brought more chicken out and It was suppose to be fresh ,, " Right " Well it tasted like it had been sitting in the kitchen in a warming drawer or something. It had the same old taste, could not eat it . I notice the food that I could not eat adding up on my table, It had to be thrown away. Customers were coming in and I wanted to warn them, I felt bad more people were going to be eating the same old food. I did ask someone how there food was. She said I did not eat my daughter did. I said , " Well the food tasted like it been sitting out all day" She said probably so ...

I went into Ryan's with the open mind that I was going to give it another chance.

I did find a Mexican dish and some grilled vegetables, and their warm bread to be ok. Since I paid over $10.00 's to eat there and was hungry. I wanted to find something that was ok. The peaches and ice cream were ok. I figured , you can't screw up peaches, I told a customer that. We laughed.

We won't be going back and while I sat there texting, I told a couple people about it. More like warned them . The waitress was nice . I told myself it was not her fault the food was so bad.

I know Toni mentioned the staff back yapping. Well Toni was right. They were. I flagged one down since there was nothing in the Mexican dish.To put it on your plate. The soft serve ice cream was not working. And with all those people yapping , No one was filling it up to get it going again. I got the hard ice cream, like I said it was ok . The server said it was her fault the soft serve was not working . YES , she was one of them that was of yapping ... Toni . You are right ... DISGUSTING ! !

As I left and on my way home . and when I got home , I hoped I was not going to get sick.

I got home and my roommate asked me what was wrong . I said I eat at Ryan's and it was NASTY.

It was still early , but I went to lay on my bed in a bad mood. That I wasted money and time on the food.

Hometown Buffet is much better ... Owned by the same chain. I don't know what they do different, But I always said Ryan's could learn a few things . But You know I mentioned the manager from Hometown went to work at Ryan's . Well ,,, Seem to not make a difference. He's a nice guy. Not sure what is going wrong. It's better to replace the old food . They are going to have to throw it away from people not eating it anyways .. And it would be better for business.

Can't beat the price – I've dined at Ryan's many times in the last 6 or 7 years, I've seen everything from the food to prices to staff, even management change several times. In the last couple months I've noticed significant improvement in all areas. The lunch price can not be beat for the amount and quality of a buffet. I can see a major difference in staff attitude and teamwork, the new managers seem to really be hitting the nail on the head. On occasion I find servers who seem not to care as much as the others about staying on top of the job but the service is still acceptable. The only disappointment I have is that the staff really pushes selling. I like to drink water, but I guess it's no different than all the other companies. They're just doing their job.

The Best Buffett in Town!!!! – My family and I have been going to Fire Mountain since it opened 5 years ago.

We've seen it go through a lot of changes, but within the past couple of years they have really stepped it up.

It is the cleanest buffet that I have ever seen. I have even seen them keeping the food bars clean when they have 50 high-school kids tearing through.

Their staff is always friendly and willing to help. My kids always look for Suki, Debra, Nita, and David (the manager) whenever we go.

The fried chicken is definitely better than Golden Corrall's or even KFC.

They always have staples like mashed potatoes and green beans.

You can't beat their rolls!

We love it when they throw in a few surprises like mini pizzas or even their Cinnamon Pinwheel.

My Grandmother loves her "Senior Card" that she can use at other places, though she rarely does.

Once in a while we go to check out some other place , but we always go back to Fire Mountain.

Over priced over stuffed, think their to big. – I have ate at Fire Mountain for over two years, they havn't decided how much to charge, and the food keeps getting older. I'm a senior and eat at Fire Mountain 2-4 times a week, most of the time I pay $5.95 Monday we were there at 12:55 PM they said the price is $6:53 I asked why they gave me a smirk and said we were five minutes early, so we sit down and waited 5 minutes and then paid the $5.95 I went back Thursday at 1:30 the price was $9.50 I asked what happened they said it was a holiday B/S they said Valentines day was a Holiday, we left and went to the Golden Corral much better food. Thursday night we went to Furr's after 5:00 PM It's $5.95 every day. A few months ago I bought a $1.00 discount ticket at Fire Mountain, a few weeks ago I forgot it and some big bouncer that was working the cash register asked for my ticket I told him that I forgot it, first he wasn't going to let me in, he thought I was lying about my age, Im 75 years old, he pointed his finger at me and said the next time I had better have the ticket or I would pay full price. Needless to say I will never go back to Fire Mountain, they had better look at the parking lot, there is a lot fewer cars and with the stupid help and the management they have it want be long before they close the doors.
