Louisville's best sports bar – Celebrated my birthday at Jocks over the weekend. Met the new owner who bought me a drink for my birthday. We all ate and the food was great. Good drink prices. Karaoke wasn't too bad until the pretty bartenders tried to sing.
Irresponsible – This bar lacks all responsibility when it comes to the safety of its patrons and community.
A few months ago (2011), Jock's Sports Bar & Grill served a man over $30 worth of alcohol on a Tuesday night (which everyone knows is a lot for a bar that serves drinks at the average price of $3) and then let him leave. This man got into his car traveling 70 mph and hit a local man sitting stationary at a stoplight on Bardstown Road. The legal blood alcohol level for the US is 0.08. This man's BAC was 0.4.
Do not support an establishment that allows people who are double the legal limit for BAC to leave without question.
Oh, and their food is terrible.
wont ever go back!!!!!!!!!!!! – My friends and I have gone to Jocks the last couple of months, only because the first time we went in there we were greeted by a really friendly bartender named Jeanna! She treated us like family each and every weekend! We were very upset when we went up there last night and found out that the new owners had let her go!!!??? We will never be back to Jocks/shit hole! She was the best thing about this bar! Always smiling and always quick!!!! The new owners must be trying to sabatoge their own business or something!!! Wherever you go Jeanna we will find you just to hang with you!!! Big bad mistake owners of Jocks, word of mouth travels quick, and you lost customers by losing Jeanna,
you're obviously dumbasses!!!!!!
Lovin it – I have a good time every sat. night. Well I guss that is becuse I don't act like some idiot like my felow Brett24. come in I'll be the one dancing by the stage drinkn Bud lt and looking for a hot chica.
Tha block is hot. – It's Friday night and your lookin to go out with your friends, drink a few beers, and have an exciting evening. Does this sound familiar? Of course it does, who doesn't want to have a good time? If this is your idea of an enjoyable night at a bar, then Jocks is not for you. If on the other hand, you enjoy fraternizing with a motley crue of wannabe thugs and trigger happy bouncers, then you may feel at home at Jocks. Nesteled snuggly in the heart of a section 8 housing district, Jocks continually attracts patrons of the utmost class.
What used to be a nice place to hang out and watch a game has now become a venue for the so called "bouncers" to demonstrate their power and superior supply of testosterone, especially if that entails attacking paying customers with unwarranted haymakers. You see at Jocks bouncers aren't there to prevent fights but rather to instigate and participate in them. To be truthful, I couldn't look someone dead in the eye and tell them that there is no chance of a stabbing occurring at Jocks on any given night. In fact, many of us former regulars who have been soured by the management of the "new regime", believe that it's only a matter of time before our old haunt sees its first homicide.
It's unfortunate that such a friendly local hot spot could so quickly become a jump off for the kind of sad, pitiful people that everyone remembers from high school. You know those kids who watched so many videos on BET that they started to believe they themselves were actually "gangsters". The white kids who were too black to be white but too white to be black, you know the ones. I guess that's just part of growing up, part of high school, but that's where it belongs. It DOESN'T belong at a bar where "ADULTS" go to relieve some stress after a long work week that didn't involve breakin off dubs to 'Twan and his "boys".
Basically, of you wanna prove how G you are, go to Jocks. If you wanna see some women, go to Bardstown Road
great prices – I have to agree with some of the syuff that has been said about the atmosphere has changed. The previous owners i think had a more of friendly group of people goin up there. The bouncers were alot less violent and agressive with the previous owners, now you dont know when the bouncers feel like starting a fight or breaking up one. The best thing about jocks is that you got good food and great prices. great place to sing and dance for just a little amount of money, i would recomend it if you like small hole in the walls.
Jock's - not the place where everybody knows your name! – I have to agree with the previous post claiming that this bar has gone down hill. Jock's was always a great place to watch a game, but the new owner's have driven off the crowd that has kept the place in business for 25 years. I am dissapointed to see a great neighborhood bar turn it to a low class Club La Vila.
plus, nice to see an honest review (see below) this must be from the owner, no customer should know this much info about a bar like Jocks.
I LOVE THIS BAR – Don't listen to the girl in the previous review. Jocks is an awesome bar. It is a really nice place. She is just a cry baby. She hangs out with a bunch of wanna be gangsters. They came in the bar looking for trouble, and eventually everyone got tired of them trying to bully people. Her friends got thrown out. I have never seen bigger cry babies in my life. These thugs brought their parents to the bar the next day. I never seen anything like it. But anyways, It is a really cool place. It has a welcoming atmosphere all the time. Every time I go there I have fun. The drinks are really well priced. They have a different special every night of the week. On Monday nights, bottle beers are only a dollar. The weekends are always jumping. They have karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights.Saturday nights are a blast. S&S entertainment D.J.'s and does karaoke. The new owners turned that place around. The bartenders and security are awesome. I take my mother there. If it was a bad bar, that would be the last place I would want my mom. The young and the old mix really well there. There is very seldom any trouble. I highly recommend this bar to anyone. If anyone has doubts they should come check it out, I guarantee they will love it. I am glad the girl from the previous review and her punk friends don't hang out there anymore. The bar is truly a better place without them. Her review hasn"t slowed down business a bit. Her negativity just highlights her immaturity. She needs to grow up. To everyone else, please come have a good time with us at JOCKS.
worst bar ever – This used to be a great place to hangout with lots of friends and family. Ever since the new owners took charge this once favorite place to be is now a thug run dump. The type of crowd that goes up there now is either looking for a fight or just being rude to anyone they don't know. The bartenders and bouncers are a joke. Rather than breaking up fights they would rather participate in them. I used to love to come to jocks and it was a really fun place to be. This new management has totally changed my opinion. I will never go back to jocks and it won't be long before someone gets hurt with the regular fights that occur at jocks
Best Sports Bar in Hikes Point!!! – If you haven't been to Jock's since the end of summer(2008), you are definitely missing out. New Owners Bruce & Debbie Brantley have remodeled the interior and are currently working on a brand new menu with some of the freshest ideas for bar food around. Misty is heading up the team and making her mark. Drinks are more than reasonable and the food is actually cooked in house (or smoked out back on their huge smoker) Try the barbque pork or smoked beef brisket with any of their signature sauces. No longer a hole in the wall, this is the place to be, lunch, happy hour & dinner!
