Love the Q, hate the Haters! – Well where do I start. I know Judith Hardy and her name is right above her review. (smart kid) She doesn't co-own the restraunt, but mom loves her son. He's name is on the wall and you're likely to shake he's hand as he is the owner/operator and the only cook jazzy's has ever had! Who's the poser! Oh I got the inside scoop. I am a regular so I'm not going to let some sad person drag a great place to eat down. Great food!
It is OKAY – Well where do I start. The person Judith Hardy who wrote the wonderful review of Jazzys is actually the co-owner. Her son is Andrew Hardy who usually runs the joint. The fact that she poses as an actual customer is plain dumb. I have the first scoop on this place because I was there old cook. First off they treat their employees like crap so imagine how the employees treat the customers. LIKE CRAP.
The food is good on a positive note!!!! They could work on there corn muffins staying nice and warm along with some honey butter would be good! So if you want good food minus the service go there!
Good, solid BBQ joint – I can't speak for the service, atmosphere, etc., because I had the food delivered through a delivery service, but I can speak for the food. The meats were very smokey and tasty - I tried the beef brisket and the BBQ chicken and both were quite good. They came smothered in plenty of sauce, which tasted OK but not really exceptional - it was definitely the weak point of the meal for me, although my wife thought it was great so it may just have been personal preference. The other weak point was the corn muffin - they were extremely dry and tough and both of us thought they tasted like they were old.
Where they really shined, though, was where a lot of BBQ places fall short; we tried a pretty wide variety of sides and all of them were EXCELLENT. The red beans and rice reminded me of New Orleans, the macaroni and cheese was homemade with real cheese and nicely seasoned, the garlic mashed potatos were strongly flavored and very addictive, and the cold salads (we tried potato salad, macaroni salad, and coleslaw) all tasted fresh and homemade. The sides were good enough that I would be happy just eating side dishes. They also were quite reasonably priced,. which was nice because it allowed us to try such a variety. We tried the peach cobbler for dessert and it was quite good also, with some kind of creamy base under the peaches that was unusual but delicious.
Overall, we were very satisfied with our meal there and would definitely eat from there again. It would be nice to see them maybe offer a few different types of sauces for different tastes, and they should definitely do something about their corn muffins, but the meat and sides were both great.
Best Bar-b-que in the area in a delightful atmosphere! – I couldn't believe the prior review could be real, especially when I read the e-mail name, remember the Hogg on The Duke's of Hazzard? Lied all the time!! It must be a jealous competitor! The grammer and spelling fit old Hogg, as well.
We experienced excellent service by very friendly and personable staff, who anticipated our every need. Our large group, for a birthday party, was seated immediately and attended to us constantly during our extended stay at Jazzy's. They even let us bring in a cake and helped us light the candles for the celebration.
The meat we ordered, which was varied, was served in ample servings and satisfied us completely. It was well cooked and served in fun little baskets with lots of yummy sauce and tasty side dishes. This is definitely not bottled sauce, as it is better than we have had anywhere in the Portland area, and if the others could get it in a bottle, believe me they would! There were abundant soft drink refills and the adults enjoyed a choice of wine and beer selections.
Jazzy's provides a very attractive and homey atmosphere that left us all comfortable to sit and enjoy our meal, without commotion or feeling rushed. It was a delightful experience, with the pleasant jazz music playing in the background to enjoy in the quiet moments when we were all ejoying the wonderful food.
Too bad the previous reviewer missed the corn muffins, they were yummie!
Don't Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! waste of money – had to set up our own table when we got there because the women behind the counter was just standing there.I put two table together and grabbed a chair from another table. 1st warning to leave. There was two groups of people at tables we made up the third group. The group of three people I seen the boy in there group walk he drinks up to the woman to get them refilled. 2nd warning I should leave. But I really wanted to find a good bar-q place to go so I stayed. We set 20 min. then she took our order. another 25 min we got drinks. Then the food came I asked for the corn bread didn't get it they gave all of us two piece white wonder bread not even toasted. I reached to grab my chicken felt like it came out of the refrigerator. I believe they got it from the refrigerator and poured bar-q sauce on it. I told her when I final seen her again. She took mine and my sons back to fix. The ribs was all fat no meat at all (not joking). My corn was cold the butter wouldn't even melt on it. So in the end I ate sausage which was good and and the baked beans were good both taste store bought were you just have to heat and the bar-q sauce was good also store bought. I was thankful for the wonder bread to eat with the bar-q. Oh the chicken that was sent back we ate and sat for 10 min with only one glass of drinks she never refilled them. I got up and told her we want to pay she wanted to know if I wanted to wait so I could take the chicken home with me. I told her she can keep it. She was nice and took off one of the meals off the ticket. So in the end the bill was $54 not including tips. everyone came home and I had to heat left overs for them to eat :(
