My favorite gift store in town! – I frequent Butterscotch to find nice gifts for myself other occasions like baby showers and weddings. I love their selection of cards, ornaments, jewelry, handbags, and baby clothes. I have worked with the owner and her staff several times and they have always been extremely friendly and helpful to me. I will be back for sure!
Fabulous selection of cool, unusual gifts and great kids/infant stuff – This section of 28th is turning into a shopper's paradise. Not only can you eat, taste wine, but you can find the most unique and eclectic selection of gifts at places like Butterscotch.
Some stores are so tempting because they really understand how to display their merchandise...this is one of those great places where you just keep wandering around, drawn by this great book and that fabulous jewelry.
And if you have friends with kids or are an aunt or uncle, this is where to get good quality and useful (but super cute and fun) clothes, books and toys for them.
And they are "quality tested" by the families that come in the shop. Kids seem to gravitate to the good stuff and all you have to do is see what the age group you want to buy for is playing with or reading when you are there.
As a greeting card freak, I love the selection here.
Butterscotch Response – We here at Butterscotch try very hard to ensure a satisfying shopping experience
for our customers. We seek out fun and unique merchandise and people know they
can find the perfect gifts and cards at our shop. We consciously try to create an atmosphere in
the store that is welcoming to all our customers. For instance, we make sure
that strollers will fit through our aisles. We also have a small table and toys
so that kids can keep their hands busy while their moms shop. People are much
more likely to report a negative experience than a positive one. It is
regrettable that a few people feel they did not have a good experience in our
store and sincerely hope that they give us another chance. We have many loyal
customers, including moms that come in often with their children. We truly
appreciate all the customers that have made the three years we have been in
business fun and rewarding for our sales team.
GREAT Gift Shop – In response to the negative reviews, I STRONGLY disagree!
I come to Butterscotch all the time for cards, baby & wedding shower gifts, and for my favorite Voluspa candles. My child is usually in tow, and I try to corale him to the kid-friendly area so he doesn't feel tempted by all the shiny, fun things to touch.
After all, it is a gift shop, not a toy store.
The owner and staff always great me AND my child with a smile and make sure we're included in Holiday open houses, and other fun events about the shop.
Butterscotch is great place to shop for the shower gift, girlfriend gift, candles and cards.
Would not go back, owner very rude – The owner of this store made me feel very unwelcome. I had an infant with me whom I was carrying in my arms and the owner followed me around like the child was going to destroy her store. She never once asked if I needed help and seemed very relieved when I left. I will not go back even though she has a great selection of baby toys and clothes. Why own a children's shop when you HATE kids?
Butterscotch – I would not reccomend this store. The woman who owns this store is extremely rude and unpleasant. She does not like children and shows a strong distaste for having them in or even around her store. This woman only cares about making a buck. If you don't like kids, why sell children's things?
Darling store, nervous owner (not kid friendly) – This store has the cutest merchandise ever! I have shopped there quite a few times, but once I had to run in and pick up something quickly with my two kids. The owner actually hovered around us (followed us) the whole time we were there like my kids were going to trash her store. I had to make them stand in the doorway while I paid, and then she went and stood by them over there, too! She made me feel very unwelcome. The kids did not damage anything! I will shop there again, but beware of the owner if you have kids. (She does have toys for very little kids to play with.) It's really easy to pick out cute gifts in a hurry there--just don't have kids with you!
Editorial Review by Leilani A. Wertens – Modern mercantile in Laurelhurst caters to both children and women with kitchen ware, inspirational books, bags, jewelry and a variety of stuffed animals and toys.
Yay! I found the handbags!!!! – I have been looking for these cute "local" purses forever! Jane bags or stylesisterstudio--I don't know but they carry them here!! And lots of them, I bought three....
Great Card Selection and open on Sunday's – I needed to get some long overdue cards for missed birthdays etc and came across Butterscotch on NE 28th. Great little shop and Great card selection and they were open on Sunday.
