Great staff--they make it fun – I took my elderly father to Coin Cottage AFTER talking with other people who have gone there and getting assurances it was the best place to go. They were right. I worked with Rick and James and both are excellent. They take the time to give you their full attention. They run a fair business and I can't wait until they expand into their new spot!

Worst customer service in a long time – 04mar11 So today I had went and sold an old broken necklace to another shop wich was a great experience. They didnt have the silver i was looking for though. I went to the Coin Cottage for the first time. I was looking to spend the cash from the gold I had sold back into metals. While looking the owner aproached me, my 2 friends and 1 friend's son. He had a survailence photo and said that it was me! The photo was birds eye view, hood on with 5% of the face showing. By the way my two friends were asian maybe that was the suspicion in the first place? Seems extremely paranoid, if you want the police after for nonsense I guess thats ok. I gave hime my ID and phone number, showed him my veteran card. He sacnned them and of course the police never called because it was a BS accusation. But not what I was expecting going to buy by some damn silver, what a joke. I will never go there again. The prices are not even good compared to the rest and obviously he missed the customer service class, If you dont have one or the other....PS (coin cottage) I see you write your own reviews considering I have been there and see that those are all fake. You have my address and number If you Dont like what I have to say. Calling a 2 time purple hearted vet that just got back from afghan so you can pedal metal freely a crook is not good for bussiness.

The Coin Cottage truly understands the meaning of Customer Service. My son and I are just beginning to collect currency and we had a GREAT experience at the Coin Cottage speaking with owner Paul and his son Phillip. We spent over an hour learning about the history of various notes and what has the most value. Paul gave us his business card and invited us to call him anytime with questions. And, they gave us some great prices to help us get started on our new collection!

Tiny shop does tons of business – I've been looking for a coin shop where I feel comfortable enough to sell a decent sized coin collection I've inherited. Some have been dark and uninviting, some large but impersonal. More than one owner was downright rude.

Then I stumbled on the Coin Cottage in Multnomah Village. The shop was very small but bright and friendly. The two men who run it, Paul and Alvin, were welcoming and helpful. They always seem busy but but they still found time to spend an hour or so each time going over my collection. There was no guesswork or smoke and mirrors, they pay an agreed upon percentage of "greysheet" (which they are more than willing to show you) and go over every coin with you to set the grade on each. If you can't agree on the grade (and they are happy to show you the grading books) then you don't have to sell them that particular coin.

I am willing to concede that on a coin by coin basis you might possibly get more at another dealer but in the long run I think it would be hard to do better. In the end I sold them over 500 coins, kept a few, and walked away without any regrets or thoughts of being taken advantage of.
