Very Professional – I have been a patron of Kroma's since it has opened. My hairstylist April has been doing my hair for over 10 years now. I have traveled to different locations with her before she landed at Kroma and can honestly say that I haven't been to a more comfortable location. Kroma is an upscale salon without the stuffy vibe. It's easily accessable from hwy 26 which makes it convienient to get back on track to my busy day (with fab hair I may add).
On a side note I have gotten to know Leeza the owner personally, I have always known her as professional, respectful and caring of her staff and of course to her stylists clients.
I HIGHLY recommend Kroma!
Finally a Stylist I can trust! – I haven't gone to an actual Salon since I went to one several years ago and got a "trim" and "highlights" and left with 7 inches of my newly orange hair missing.
I recently went to Kroma. Cool place! I saw the owner, Leza. Awesome girl! I'm a burnette and in spring I always want to to add a few highlights. They are perfect! Finally, someone who knows how to give a burnette highlights without turning the hair orange and brassy! And I actually got a trim like I asked for.
Won't go anywhere else again.
A must try, you wont be sorry! – I visited Kroma a couple of weeks ago, I had never been to this salon before and went based on a recommendation of a friend. Her hair always looks great so I figured I would check it out.
I was immediately impressed by the front desk staff when I called to make my appointment. She was friendly and accommodated my changing mind without getting irritated. (I changed my appointment time twice during the conversation).
When I walked into the salon I was surprised not by how "nice" it was but how "cool" it was. It has an urban vibe and is decorated to the nines! I have been to several salons downtown (The Bob shop, Salon Nyla, Magnum Opus and two Dosha salons to name a few) and Kroma's ambiance is better than all of those.
On to my hair. I lost the BEST stylist in history to breast cancer about 8 years ago and I have been wondering ever since, until I found Kroma. I got the best color and cut I have had in years.
While the stylist was blow drying my hair two other stylist came over to comment on how nice my color looked. (I went from blond to dark)
I highly recommend this Salon and look forward to years of good hair again.
Amazing Service!!!! – Amazing gals at this Salon! They always make me feel like I am a close friend. But what I love most is how I feel when I leave. Love love love my hair cut and color! Not to mention how beautiful the salon is, they need to come to my house and decorate!!!!
Best haircuts ever! – I have been coming to this salon for a few years and have had nothing but positive experiences. My stylist, also the owner, is always positive and fun to talk to. She is always helpful when I decide to try new things, once I wanted to go blonde ( I am dark brown). She warned me that it would be a ton of upkeep and expense, so I stayed brown... if she was"just worried about the size of my pocketbook" she would have gladly done it and made much more money of me than she does. Every haircut looks great, I have never once been dissapointed.
I have NEVER been kept waiting, she is always on time. The salon is SO clean and comfortable, the hair washing sinks are to die for. I love the set up of the stations.
I would and have recommended this salon to friends.
Marginal at best. – I've been a customer of Yen's for four years now. She is a great stylist, an all around good person who carries herself with a lot of integrity, and is very personable. I've found that combination to be extremely rare in my experience with other hair stylists. Not only has she done a great job on my hair, but I've also enjoyed getting to know her on a personal level over the years. She is the sole reason that I was a patron of Kroma.
After some questionable actions on the part of the Kroma management, Yen was abruptly forced out of the salon and had to re-locate. I tracked her down (with no help of Kroma Salon) and have followed her to her temporary location.
I will continue to be Yen's customer long term wherever she lands.
That being said, Kroma Salon is not compelling enough for me to remain a customer there since Yen was left with no choice but to leave the salon. I see no real value in remaining a customer of Kroma nor any reason to recommend the salon to anyone frankly.
Mean! – I am giving this salon 1 star, even though am overly generous with ratings.
This is my, sorry so long, story:
I followed the best hairstylist ever to Kroma Salon 4 or so years ago. I will follow Yen Nguyen anywhere- although I would prefer she stop moving further away from me every time. :)
I went to Kroma salon since Yen moved there, but the lack of professionalism of the salon management was always apparent to me. For example, I bring my baby to my appointments- where she sits in my lap quietly the whole time! I have felt the cold stares from management even when my child was the one getting her hair cut, although I did try to ignore them. I could even tell the stylists were treated with no kindness or courtesy. I have never felt so uncomfortable in any salon, anywhere. Yen was their saving grace.
Today, after having left a message over the weekend to make an appointment for this week, I had to call back to find out why they had not returned my call. They did not intend to call me back. Strike #1 for today.
The receptionist or owner or whoever it was, informed me that my stylist was no longer there. Now, at this point, a good service oriented person would have offered me an appointment with someone else to try and keep my business......right? Strike #2.
I asked where Yen had moved to, I know that these salons tend to have independent stylists that can rent space and I supposed they would provide me with something to find her. Not only did they refuse to provide me with any contact information, but they even refused to tell me how long she had been gone or anything that could possibly help me. She was very RUDE and short with me, like I had done something wrong. Strikes #3 and 4.
I was so upset, that I called my husband in tears. I eventually was able to find Yen again after a miserable day online searching out any possible connections, facebook, my space, white pages, everywhere......
I started feeling almost like a stalker searching for Yen because I felt I was given no other options, but I finally found her and was so happy!:)
I will be happy to drive even further to see Yen now and avoid this salon altogether.
The short message from this is that the owners and managers of Kroma Salon are not professional, kind, or really the kind of people you would want to do business with- what an experience!
For anyone who wants someone that is fabulous and irreplacable and can always make me look good, Yen is in Portland, OR at 12th and Morrison at Moxie for Hair for the time being.
Friendly, upbeat atmosphere and hot stylists – I?ve been going to Kroma for almost six years for the great service. Leza has always been very friendly and I always get a great haircut. She spends time asking me about what?s been going on, favorite new movies, restaurants, show, etc. For a salon it does not have that overpowering ammonia smell many salons have and it?s not overly feminine. As a guy I am comfortable going in and look forward to my next visit. And Leza and most of the stylists are HOT!
The owner is more concerned with the size of your pocket book – I received a haircut by the owner - Leza. From the moment my service began I felt like she was over the top and fake. She cared about nothing more than the size of my pocket book and making herself feel superior. I care about quality and professionalism but I prefer an environment more genuine and down to earth. They are located in a strip mall next to fast food and Albertson's, she needs to get over herself.
worse hair cut ever – The Salon has nothing going on. The service is horible. My haircut will take months to grow out. Go there to be ingored.
